  1. I think what will be funnier if this ends of resulting in A&E committing ratings suicide as a network. If this is their #1 show, they might have just killed the show (and their network). We'll see...
  2. Some friendly candid photos. I hope this doesn't scandalize everyone with its civility. http://www.policymic.com/articles/76375/8-photos-you-didn-t-see-from-obama-s-trip-to-south-africa
  3. Wasn't the PD Vengeance an airlock canopy? They seemed to be "in" a while ago, but I guess there were issues and PD doesn't make them anymore. I never flew one. Anyone have an commentary on the Vengeance? Just curious.
  4. Well, at least they know how to have a good time at a funeral. I think they're in on the latest "selfie at a funeral" rage. http://selfiesatfunerals.tumblr.com/ I didn't to page 2 in case someone commented already, but most of these are "meh". Now, if there were selfies WITH the deceased (e.g. kneeling down next to the open casket and taking a pic with yourself and the deceased), THEN that would be a bit disturbing.
  5. Don't know if Jarrett Martin still posts here, but he had just turned 14 and had 105 jumps when I met him. So he was at least 13, maybe even 12 when he started.
  6. Unfortunately, the dog would 1) end up pooping everywhere since I wouldn't be home in time to walk it and 2) die of loneliness since I'm not at home most of the day. My cat is pretty low maintenance, but even that is pushing the limit for me. He was being a dick again after I fell asleep, then FINALLY settled down. Maybe he's done punishing me.
  7. I'm "staff" as well. But I'd like to think she calls me "Momma". Did you have anyone stay at your house or come in to spend some time with him over the weekend? I'm just back from 2 weeks away and my girl is cool as hell. Probably because she got lots of attention while I was gone. My roommate was there to feed him and scoop the little box. He is usually friendly and affectionate with the roommate, but he doesn't let the cat into his bedroom like I give him free rein of mine.
  8. Takeoff reported successful. I wonder how close it was to the end though. Did they do some engine revving to get it to take off faster?
  9. And many Bonfire posts are NOT first world problems?
  10. ....if that gets your attention. [/laugh] I was out of town for a long weekend to attend my cousin's wedding. Upon returning, the cat won't curl up and calmly sleep on the bed. Instead, he's being a total dick and I have to shut him out of the room so I can sleep. Just after I've fallen asleep, he decides he wants to screw around, loudly crashing into the blinds (large sliding glass door), purr on volume 10, fuck with other stuff, cause mischief or make noise in other ways. Sure, when I came back he's all glad to see me so I can feed him and change his litter of course. Any other cat owners (or cat staff as NWFlyer likes to say) experience this? I'm thinking that he'll return to "normal" soon - probably just his way of lashing out at me for having the audacity to leave town for a few days.
  11. Haven't really heard much precedence of "MidCal", but not opposed. I just can't accept Cali, but will tolerate it in small doses.
  12. sass and myself are "Cali" originals...maybe hookitt too. And no one from California refers to anything as "Cali". It is NorCal, SoCal (or even LoCal for San Diego area).
  13. That near grab of the cutaway handle didn't really look unintentional either....nor safe for that matter! But what do I know...and I'm only on page 1 so someone probably already beat me.
  14. Oh, and #6 "Best Beer in the World" had fallen several places and is gaining ground on Marcel.
  15. I just realized that I should be able to vote 2x this evening as opposed to once more. I wish that Hoptimumless chode would get dropped to #11. That secret lives of the cans guy seems to be unaware of his downfall.
  16. I hope this isn't too off topic, but I was at a party Saturday evening and someone there told us all to get ready to spot the ISS (International Space Station) about 7:05. She had some app on her phone that showed when it would come into view. To me, it seemed way too fast to be something orbiting, (more like the speed of a plane), but Wikipedia says it orbits 15 times per day making it plausible to me. Was this likely the ISS we saw?
  17. Totally NOT a fan of inversion tables - doesn't feel good on knees and ankles. What works much better IMO are yoga slings. You hang by your pelvis.
  18. Don't know if this helps, but one thing I tell whuffos I know that I think is cool about skydiving, is that when I am holding on by a finger and a toe in rearfloat out of the plane, I have the power to climb back in the plane IF I wanted to....but I don't. I know that once I let go, do my skydive, I can deploy a flying apparatus and land myself safely on any reasonable flat surface below me. It's rather powerful and gives you confidence. How's that for "door anxiety"! If it too you 10 jumps, doesn't that mean that you have landed under your own parachute (i.e. not a tandem) and are now getting comfortable doing so? See if that helps!
  19. This is interesting...especially about the reserve. I was one of the 15 dumped into the Pacific in Nicaragua....or should I say blown. I did not have flotation gear (yes, shame on me), but definitely sensed my reserve helping me float. I was probably about 200 yards or so out to sea and ended up swimming back by the time the fishing boat got to me (others were a lot further out then me). I remember someone mentioning 20-30 minutes for the reserve, so to hear >40 for the ocean is reassuring news. Oh, I was in a wingsuit too. I just did a casual elementary backstroke, staying in all my gear and dragging my main back with me (and it cooperated by floating on top until just before the end).
