  1. I'm going to come down to Montreal for one of the nights during July 1st weekend for a jump. I'll send u a pm with contact info of the locals. You'll definately want to jump with the Montreal crew since you'll need to use their equipment to gain access and they are careful about their jumps. the ground IS the limit
  2. I went to check out an 800' A last night on city outskirts with my crew. It was getting dark and as we approached, the maintenance building's lights went on. We were next to the fence of the A to observe it and about 3-5 mins later, a security van came around the building to where we were so we ran to hide in the bushes and waited out for the van to leave. It wasn't a regular security check up since the van came out aggressively. We definately set off motion detectors which may have flagged the onsite security officer. Since these detectors can detect any wildlife, I'm sure the officer(s) came after they saw us on the closed circuit camera(s). The road is fenced off and there is a facility near by, so it is my conclusion that there's 24 hr security on site. I was surprised since the A didn't look any more spectacular than other A's when it comes to security. On a side note, there was great landing areas and nice take off platforms at various heights. the ground IS the limit
  3. Once you pack your chute at a low compression strain rate, your chute will not want to open since there will be compression forces when the plys in your chute onfolds. Your 3do body protection won't help much at that speed. the ground IS the limit

  7. What's your experience with any Aiptek camcorders? They are small, light, cheap and operate on an SD card. I have not found a canadian retailer that carries them so I hope some of you have experience with them. The model I'm interested in is MPVR for 200$ US. It's resolution is 640x480 VGA@ 30 fps, Dims are 4.1" x 2.6" x 1.25". It has some other fun media features but I only care for the video and its light weight. I want to know if the camcorder records steadily when subjected to opening force and if the quality of the image is worth the camcorder, but not for professional use. the ground IS the limit
  8. That was my first Canadian and lowest jump! Thanks Jaap and Steve for introducing me to Vancouver. That was a wicked jump, wet dirty ass landing. Jaap, your a wuss for complaining about this rain. You know I'm the one with big balls that controls my C.G. You better get your ass back in town before Steve and I open up your hotty for you New Year's Resolution; get my local A pronto. the ground IS the limit
  9. I told my family that I was getting into BASE before doing the FJC. My sister understands the risks of the sport and why I'm doing it. My dad, on the other hand doesn't want to hear about it. It's too painful to hear about the possibility of losing his child. I've explained to him my approach to BASE and I've left it at that. The part they do understand is I've tried a variety of things to keep myself busy through school, work, flying, and skydiving so my mind stays off of BASE. It doesn't work. They understand my emotional involvement with BASE. They know that it is more important for me to live more fully at a higher risk instead of trying to keep myself alive for them. the ground IS the limit

  15. winter is coming... arghh I saw snow today! for u northern jumpers, do u jump guyed A's during the winter? what gloves do u wear so that ur hands don't freeze up? how thick are ur gloves and do u change to thinner gloves once u get to launch point? do u freeclimb the guyed A if u can only climb it on the outside or do u use a steel cable ascender with a secondary harnsess? the ground IS the limit

  17. I'm a product designer/engineer with experience in products for extreme applications. I also have a strong background in logo creation, image manipulation and marketing. I can be of use to design you a "A service contracting company" with company ID tags, and work order sheets. Wear them when u go check out a new site along with a bright construction safety vest and hard hat. I'm a newbie to the sport and can't wait to do my first A! the ground IS the limit
  18. I had a cheeseburger dinner date out of a 182. it was a sunset load and we didn't have enough time for altitude so we ate our burgers on exit for a pop n hop. on another pop n hop, I ate a banana. the next step is to have dinner in freefall. has anyone had close chocking incidents? the ground IS the limit
  19. If I didn't have school work, I would be a STEALTH TOWER ACCESSORY I would have a satellite dish on my head, a big red flashing light on my ass, then I would unsuspectingly go climb antennas the ground IS the limit
  20. toss Fluffy out! using a descent rate calculator for a 46" http://www.aeroconsystems.com/tips/descent_rate.htm, and assuming it's a 0.5 lb kitten, the cat will impact at 5 mph, which is far too safe for BASE. u could get a kitty cypres so that Fluffy can at least enjoy some true freefall or go down to a sporty 20" square so that Fluffy can perform a catswoop. the ground IS the limit

  22. how were the legstraps and stowed PC designed to be stealth? I'm contemplating making a complete rig cover that would have the legstraps stowed into the "backpack". the second option would be to leave the legstraps out and wear pants over the leg straps. I would only need to peel off the cover before exit. are there any pics of a smuggler rig? the ground IS the limit
