  1. Geepers Darryl Hey would someone out there be able to beam me a link to the French Wind Tunnel. For those of you who have been to it...whats your opinion. Is it worth my while to go there (coz i think on an earlier thread it was considered about double the Skyventure prices) or just hitting Skyventure straight. A point to consider is that i am in UK and therefore the travel element weighs quite significantly. And what about differences in standards of coaching between the two? Lekker
  2. Quote Stupino is the place, where you can feel yourself a white man! now now ...care to explain what that means?
  3. ***FWIW, I do not believe she ever said she wasn't briefed. All she said is that it startled her to see the truck in her landing pattern. Steady...what you have quoted was part of an "either or" type scenario. Just trying to put some rational into what she was saying. She is asking if it is normal practice to have the truck there. In her words "i was pissed and scared". Apparently it is and has been for a very long time and everyone is aware of this...or so you would think. Guess she now has the answers.
  4. ***Im pretty fit and work out in the gym on avergage 20 hrs a week and i lift about 40kgs + the bar on the bench press for example Now thats where your problem land aches come from!
  5. i havent but i have met some guys who have jumped there and they reckon its quality! and heading to Kolomna in July for some summer slam jumping.... yeah baby!
  6. *** For those of you that do come to our playground. Just know the truck is there and he saw you before you even thought about seeing him. The only people he hits are guys on motorcycles on the runway racing planes. Plus, there are dirt roads all over the landing area and he usually only drives on those, unless it is an emergency. I hear you man but that isnt necessarily something easy to put into a plan..think of the questions that can go through your mind.... "ok there is the truck...he sees me...but..wait...where is it going?...am i dodging him?...or will he dodge me?...i'll land there then...oh no..he is also going there!"..PANIC PANIC PANIC...hook!
  7. Mmm so admittedly this is a rather strange case. I wonder if the original poster would care to comment on this and shed some light as there are only two answers to this 1) The original poster got briefed and forgot...and is still unable to recall that she got the brief...hence the post. OR 2) It didnt take place. Any other options?
  8. Ok trying to rescue Rosa and deviating back to the original issue at hand In response to It's covered in the briefing all new jumpers get when they arrive at Perris, along with the hand/arm signals to announce someone hurt, someone who needs pick up, ect..... Is this really the case then?? Looks like the process was ommitted. To be fair in sure the work that Tim does is awesome and well appreciated..BUT without warning any unwitting person could actually be put off by seeing a car driving around the landing areas...and believe me..that is a potential serious incident waiting to take place.
  9. cut-away- "login failed...please try again later" reserve "is this late enuff?"
  10. Ok so then what constitutes an impact considerable enuff to necessitate the replacing of a helmet? ============================
  11. Ahoy! Im keen as mustard. Im in Birmingham and i am down for some action there. I will be there last 3 weeks of July if i can get the rest of my act together. Logistics is quite a snag.
  12. I smell being broke and abject poverty about to set in.
  13. Ahoy. I am a homeless skydiver. I have recently found myself in Birmingham (the last 5 months) and dont know where to jump..therefore as far as England goes...im a virgin. Need to fix that. Where do you Birmingham guys party?
  14. Ron i hear you buddy. Ok so...with the hope of getting a helpful conclusion out of this thread...what do we do? I think what we have touched on here is the fact that safety should be our number one concern..but just like in any other problem in life..there is the question of practicability. On the one hand Flyingarabs's mate intentionally undid his chest strap and no one picked it up and Flyingarab and his mate find this a sore spot calling for more attention from the genral community. On the other hand..some say that its basically not practical to take ownership of every other person in the load...and thats being honest! The question to pose to you all therefore...is what is practical and what isnt? Where does it reasonably end because in the light of preventing safety..we could spend less time skydiving and more time preparing or avoiding potential incidents. Could we go as far as repacking our reserves after each jump? Having the aircraft checked by a tech after each shutdown? Compulsory safety exam refreshers each week at the dz? Every jumper checking every other jumpers gear in the plane? Bottom line is it dont look too practical to do all of this...and this fact that we cant eliminate all possible chances of problems puts pressure on individuals to get their own acts together (eg not take things lightly like entering the plane with straps not tied). You talk of family? You wouldnt want to endanger your family needlessly would you? Take reasonable care yourself...but then again...where does reasonable end?
  15. Gees steady there Ron. You dont have to be that hard on him! Man and you are an instructor as well. All he said is take time to cast your eye around or check gear. We know it aint your job unless you have a student under you but on the same level it doesnt take long...shit happens for whatever reason. It dont hurt...but to be fair your attitude to this discussion sucks. Its our own responsibility for our gear...but...no one is invinsible. Better safe than sorry....or probably in Rons case..better sorry than have him do something he aint paid for.
  16. Can this container accommodate a main and reserve in the 150 - 170 range?
  17. Um i,ve looked in the listed DZs and seen nothing. Would somebody know if there is hopping in Barbados or nearby?
  18. Um so where is the closest place i can get to to jump. Im in Birmingham......and i aint got a ride either. Im also terrified of the cold so i might need granny to start knitting me a jump scarf.
  19. dude.......sometimes its better to crash and burn than never to take off at all. By that...i dont know what im saying...but chicks dig it!
  20. justdumi

    I wont do it!

    ...ar?? but chicks dig it!
  21. Right ok i`m at work and i`m bored as a fish so i`m thinking.... The more skydivers in formation the slower the formation falls right? So how in formation before we can land without opening our parachutes (and live to tell the story over drinks later on)?
  22. Well Jimmy on a scale of 1 to 10.....that was a level 3 joke...most of it was serious. Obviously our man here has some insecurity/ jealousy issues....and on top of that he seems to have quite a lot of power over her...(this is my deduction from her story starting off by saying "i have a skydiving hating husband and i make 2 weekends per month....and i`m not allowed to stay for beers" He might be a whuffo and think skydiving is an unecessary and dangerous expensebut then that wouldnt explain the after jump beer sanctions....thats full on insecurity...and seeing how the "baptism by fire " operates would probably make it worse if he actually saw skydivers partying Insecure men know what they would get up to if they were left alone....and i`m assuming he isnt the most outgoing person on the planet. Maybe he just needs to be reassured occassionally or start his own "thing" that he does... As to your last comment.....he probably thinks that she is important to him and he should be important to her so why should she skydive and spend days from home playing with her life! waffle waffle waffle....i`ve run out of things to say except.....relation ships suck.
  23. Quote Sounds like HE needs to attend an "after hours jump party"........ If that happens he will probably never let his wife go back to the dz ever again....."after jump parties" are not for the faint hearted!
  24. Well just down the road there is a town here called Matusadona....( that actually means "the shit has fallen"
