And I thought I was keeping Jump Shack in business!!!
-
The only reason he is included in a SPORT/SKYDIVING Hall of Fame is pure exposure plain and simple. To survive is qualification? As I said earlier why not Art Starnes?
-
The point I'm trying to make is his accomplisment had nothing to do with SKYDIVING!!! This is for the SKYDIVING HALL OF FAME not the Aviation Hall of Fame. If by the sole fact he made a high parachute jump than why not proceed his nomination with Art Starnes who did more for SKYDIVING than Kittinger!
-
YES I DO !!! When there are many more individuals deserving of the honor. Every time you put on a rig, regardless of the manufacture, what kind of canopy release does it have? Is the container a single, hot knifed piece? Is your canopy a ram air? You can thank Booth, Sherman, Jalbert, and Snyder for those innovations. They have contributed more to SPORT PARACHUTING than a single high altitude test jump!
-
I'm not really sure why Capt. Kittinger has been nominated as an inductee to the Skydiving Hall of Fame. Can someone tell me of his contribution to SPORT PARACHUTING? To include him and ignore real contributors ie. Booth, Sherman, Jalbert or Snyder to name a few doesn't make sense

The reason the RSL caused a malfunction was because a dumb ass rigger mis-routed it! All the Tandem Master had to do was pull the reserve handle and it would have worked. You know this is true as this thread had a response from Nancy @ JumpShack.
-
Gee, I wonder why there wasn't a Racer included in USPA's death notice? If other rigs are so great why do they continually change them?( ie Mirage relocation of the reserve pilot chute?) Say what you will but when it comes time to use my reserve I'll be glad it's a Racer and not some other rig where the reserve pilot may or may not launch!

I agree, you guys rock!!! Great vibes/planes/people and very little to bitch about. Thanks again!!!!

Thanks for the info!!!! I will give him a shout when I get back from the redemption boogie.

Goodbye... I am quitting skydiving
racerman replied to fmmobley's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I made the same choice for almost the same reasons. After awhile I started looking at the sky and regretting the decision I made. Unfortunately it took almost ten years to realize this and save up enough money to buy gear. You have to do what you have to but you'll be back!!! -
I don't think that is true. The yellow coating is something different, but Racers have a red teflon coating (with some debate about the possibility of it being able to crack/stay on the cable), isn't that right? Quote When Parachute Labs first started using the red teflon coated cables there was a problem with the supplier (many years ago)where the coating cracked. The old yellow cables were supposed to be lightly coated with 3in1 oil but that was a long time ago

No!!!! The family should sue the vehicles driver for emotional distress, loss of affection etc. I mean why not isn't that the way society has become? -
give me a pm and I'll give ya the run down on the DZ'z

Sorry to all, I really screwed up. I was thinking of the 2,000 jump wings. I'll just be quite and go back to eating my jello -

I was referring to their construction, not the intent of the award. It's like something you'd get out of a gumball machine -
Made my first jump in 76 there. Lucinda taught the course and Dale flew the load. I had been going there to watch since I was seven and couldn't wait to turn sixteen. I've been jumping all over the world and consider it my Home DZ. I hope it can survive this latest turmoil. Happy Birthday Dale! (We need to have a reunion)

I've been jumping since 1976 with over 5,000 jumps. During that time I've trained, JM, did demos etc all without a D license. I would like to have all the accolades that go with the time and money I've invested but I really don't need to have a cheap assed pin (have you seen them ?) And yes,I've been a member of USPA the whole time.
