  1. Thanks Johnny, you have been a big help. I will be making my way up there if the weather ever gets better. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  2. Lol @ daisy, hope you guys are enjoying your new house. Well my season hasn't offically started yet, and I was only able to put 3 jumps the canopy this past saturday. I was playing around with toggles but didn't quit understand the stall and collapse. After readin the manual it hit me what was happening and now I am anxious to get back in the air and start playing around with it. But now I know what I need to look for and will be practicing the flairs up high to get the right point. I was just use to my Sabre which you flaired all the way when you landed. But this canopy is a different animal. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  3. So I was just able to put a few jumps on my canopy, a Safire the other day. After reading the owners manual I found out that burying the toggles will cause the canopy to stall and possible collapse to which mine does when you bury them. My old canopy a Sabre 1 didn't do that when the toggles were pulled all the way down. So my question is this: When landing do I bring the toggles just to the point of the stall? If I bury the toggles I risk the chance of falling out of the sky when landing correct? I also heard the Safire 1 has a two stage flair, is this correct? Any advice would be helpful, thanks. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  4. I have thought about this as well. But it would seem that the purpose of the 3 ring system is to be able to re-use the equipment after a cut away. Cutting those loops could be more expensive then just replacing the reserve closing loop. Also in my mind I was running through the situations in which cutting away the main and cypress activation would be needed. I came up with a spinning main that passed the parameters at the activation altitude or a bag lock followed by no EP's by the jumper. In the other situations it would seem that there would be no need to cut away the main (unconscious freefall or a no pull) _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  5. I believe RWS does. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  6. I don't think there was any slack in the brake line. But would that cause the canopy not to flair the right way? I would think that no slack would make the canopy flair earlier, this one didn't see to flair at all. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  7. Thanks Johnny, I know that there is very little if any slack in the lines when it is deployed, I check for that. Also as I said, if I do a hard flare the canopy goes crazy, my end cells collapse and last time I did it, it just about sent me into some line twist. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  8. So this weekend I wound up going to Sky's the Limit to try out my near gear. The Safire had some great openings, very consistant. The problem(if it is that) was with the flare. I opened high to play around. At that point I tried to flare like I use to with my Sabre where I pull my toggles all the way down. When I did that it seem like the chute was going to collapse and I got spun almost into a linetwist. So I said forget that. As I was coming in for a landing I tried to flare and it seemed like I barely slow down. Like I said there is a lot of toggle pressure. The last jump I made I tried a two stage flare which seemed to work better. Any ideas? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  9. I missed the chance to go to eloy with some of the guys from SDLI since my gear wasn't ready . _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  10. The old timers have no problem telling me how small it use to be! I know SDLI is having safety day but I just really want to get back into jumping, winter really sucks. I will check Cross keys out. Does Cross Keys have freeflying coaches all year long? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  11. I was thinking the Ranch too but I do have on concern about it. Now first off, I am confident in my landings as that I have been practicing every jump to land where I want to (as in picking a spot and landing close to that). But that is at SDLI which has a 10,000FT runway and you could pretty much land anywhere you want on that if something happens. I heard that the landing area at the Ranch is much smaller and I know that I could do it, but I am just a concern over new gear-new dropzone. Should I be worried? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  12. Alright so this whole winter thing is getting to me. I just got my brand new gear (it's just about complete, they sent me the wrong d-bag and now they are sending me the right one) and I would really like to jump. I am willing to drive the 2+ hours to get to any one of these DZ's. With this weekends weather approaching the 60's it seems like jumping would be a good idea. The only problem is that looking at the weather I see partly cloudy everywhere. I would like to know from the locals of these DZ's what party cloudy means to them. When you see partly cloudy on the news do you plan to go to the DZ, maybe call them? I know at SDLI normally partly cloudy means there are a lot of holes in the sky and the chances of jumping is good. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  14. On page 79 (cookie ad) is that guy wearing a chest strap or am I just missing something? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  15. Thanks guys! I was told the canopy has around 300 jumps on it. It seems to be in good condition. I installed it myself and ran the lines, they look like they are on straight. Unfortunately it did not have covers for the rings so I think I might go the softlink route. Are they hard to install? Johnny I responded to your PM. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  16. Thanks, I will leave it like that until I can see him! _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  17. If anyone could help me it would be great. I am trying to attach a Safire to my Javelin D bag, is this the correct way?: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Javelin/DSCN0435.jpg Also in the next picture the lines on the right are from a Sabre and the lines on the left are from the Safire, are they the same material? They feel different? Also does it look like the Safire needs a relining? Thanks in advance! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Javelin/DSCN0436.jpg _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  18. Was there a reserve in the tray when that experiment took place? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  19. Thank you!!! They told me 11 weeks. But apparently they had a problem getting hardware from France which delayed it about a week and a half. Still worth the wait! _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  20. After 12 weeks my Javelin Odyssey finally came in! I need to give a big thanks to Art at the skydive store (www.skydivestore.com). His customer service is top-notch! He always had time to answer all my questions and put up with me on week 11 when I would call all the time for updates! Also a big thanks to everyone at SunPath. You guys went above your line of duty to assist in my request! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Javelin/DSCN0432.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Javelin/DSCN0433.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Javelin/DSCN0434.jpg _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  21. My home DZ is SDLI which uses the old Grummans Airforce base that use to build the F14's. There is a monument in the front with one of the planes you can walk up too. Lucky us we get to use the 10,000FT run way. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  24. From what I heard is that the sudden pressure change of slamming a door can cause it to fire. When I first got it, it crossed my mind but since I always leave a window open I don't really need to worry about it. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  25. Honestly you should be fine this the SRAM components. I use to do a lot of hardcore riding with people from work (I use to work as a bike mechanic) including someone who rode with SRAM and it held up well. As someone said its like Ford v Chevy. As long as you take care of your equipment you shouldn't have a problem with any brand. If you really want to get into the pros and cons of the equiptment I can direct you to people who really know there stuff (the pro shop at where i use to work). Here is some pics of my ride. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Toys/DSCN0001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Toys/DSCN0002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/outlaw12cz/Toys/DSCN0003.jpg _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
