  1. I have built my own. Its not very hard and there are lots of websites out there that will help you through it. http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/index.htm http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/pc_building/preparation/ http://www.buildyourowncomputer.net/learntobuild.html If you need help with picking out components like the CPU, GPU, PSU, Motherboard, ram, etc... let me know I will try to give you a hand. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  2. I always enjoyed going to the see the blue man group. Its a great show. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  3. And I appeciate the advice you have given. It seems like a lot of people around where I jump give in too easy to peer pressure. I am trying hard to keep it out of mind and know that d/s'ing at this time is a bad idea (d/s'ing wasn't really my intention, as I said before, its mostly to seek advice about my current canopy). Thanks rwieder. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  4. What is your experience level? How many jumps do have on your current canopy? What other canopies have you jumped, and how many jumps have you put on them? Also, why are you in such a need for front riser performance? Have you exhausted the other capabilities of your canopy? To the point that you are ready for a smaller canopy? What would you be doing with the 'improved' front riser performance of the smaller canopy anyways? My experience level is 74 jumps. I probably have around 40-45 jumps on the 170. I have jumped a 240-210 nav before getting my A, then a few jumps on a 190 Spectre, and now my 170. I am not saying I am ready/or have the need to go to a smaller canopy. This is why I am asking all these questions so that I can stay with my current one and have some more fun with it. I would just like to try some new things while making the ride back to the airport. One of my favorite parts of the skydive is the canopy ride back. I can sit all day practicing my flares, rear riser turns, spiralling with the toggles (which I do). There fore I am looking to try something new. If people say that they can make front riser turns on a similar canopy with similar w/l's then I want to know why I can't. The majority of this thread are skydiving giving me tips for my current canopy, all of which I will try this weekend (NY weather permiting). _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  5. Livendive: Thanks, will ask them. Billvon: I never realized that it might cause a problem after the slider is stowed if a cutaway would be needed. I just asked bacause I see a bunch of guys with bands on the top of there reserve flaps where is looks like the stow it. But I will try all of that. thanks again. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  6. Without being flamed to death: is D/Sing to a 150 Sabre2 w/ a w/l of 1.26 be a bad idea for my experience level? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  7. How much I actually pull it down. My original risers didn't have front dive loops to grab on to, so it was a bit tough on my hands to pull it down all that much. But now I have brand new RWS risers with the loops and when I pull one side down the canopy will only turn ever so slightly but nothing I would call a dive. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  8. tdog: I have heard about these classes but haven't gotten the chance to go anywhere to actually take them. If they have it at a dropzone close to me one of these days I am definitely going to take it. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  10. So when I am under canopy next time I should pull the front riser down and look up to see if the tail is deflecting, that will telle me if my brakes are incorrect? When putting the slider behind your head you need to install a band back there to hold it? Also does the slider come past your risers (sorry just trying to visualize it) _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  12. rwieder: By saying you think I should bore myself some more you mean I shouldn't consider downsizing anytime soon? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  13. Thanks guys for the advice. Billvon: What is so different from collasping the slider to putting it behind your head? I would think that putting it behind your head does the same thing as collapsing it. Next weekend (weather permitting) I will take your check list with me and go through all of it. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  14. Currently I am flying a 2001 Sabre 170 with less then 150 jumps on it. Since I am still new to the sport I am not in a rush to D/S but I would like a bit more performance out of my canopy. For example: I can not get the 170 to dive on front risers, no matter how much I pull down on them it will not turn. Would a Fusion/Sabre2 semi-elliptical canopy give me slight more performance then my current sabre? Also is there a big different in flying a 170 Fusion/Sabre2 compared to a Nitron/Stilletto at the same size? Thanks in advance for your input. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  15. The free skyhook was something I was considering. Thanks for your help guys. I am going to jump until I can't move my arms in freefall (well atleast right before that point). I am definallly going down to Florida during the winter to jump for a week. I will stay with this container until I can move down to something smaller so I dont waste my money. Thanks again. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  16. Currently I am jumping a 1997 Vector 3. Its in good shape and fits pretty well. But recently I just sold my laptop and now have the funds (if I want to) to buy a new container. My questions is the following: My Vector 3 works and fits me good, but I would like a container thats more customized for my body(not to mention colors..etc...). Should I just put a few hundred jumps on this container or should I go out and buy a brand new one? Any opinions would be very helpful. Also any suggestions on jumping in cold weather (50f-60f on the ground). New york's winter weather is setting in and I would really like to keep on jumping. Thanks in advance. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  18. Just curious, how much does a jump ticket cost in USD over there? I am just trying to visualize how much things cost of there. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  20. If done correctly, it's not bad. Just have your rigger give it a bath at your next repack. Well I was going to have Relative Workshop do it since they will have it for a while. I was guessing having the manufacture do it is the best thing. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  21. Well this thing probably hasn't been cleaned since 1997. In regard to phoenix, is it a bad thing to get it cleaned? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  22. This winter during some down time I am having Relative Workshop install some new ring covers to personalize my used container. During that time would it be worth it to have them clean the container? It is a 1997 Vector 3 in black. Opinions/comments? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  23. SDLI is using them on some of there tandems. I have a vigil installed on my rig. 20 year life span, no routine maintenance, the battery can be replaced by your rigger (I believe), great little unit. The vigil was recommended to me by my rigger and art from the skydive store. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  24. I jump a 170 sabre. The only time this canopy really put me into my harness is when it was packed without the nose being pushed into the tail. I now roll the nose, bring the slider out infront of the nose to catch the air, and roll the tail for consitant openings. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
