  2. Well this weekend I got 1 jump on the 170 Sabre before the winds got nasty. The opening was very quick. Normally with the Spectre I can look up and see the canopy snivel for a fwe seconds, but with the sabre there was a canopy over my head before I even had a chance to look up. The opening did really hurt it was just very fast (although I have some neck and lower back pains today). I am going to try to roll the nose and tail (the pack job I jumped was from the rigger and he only rolled the tail). Hopefully this will help to slow the opening down slightly. Other then that it flew real nice. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  3. I have a vigil, I am set to go. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  4. He is a good friend, but I am thinking my spectre is a better friend , so before I do the switch I just want some opinions. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  5. Look at this, its my day to ask questions! Right now I am using a Spectre as my main, but as a favor to a friend I might be switching to his Sabre 1. From reading I understand the Sabre 1 has a history of hard openings. But what are the differences in flight between these two canopies. I like the way my Spectre opens (takes forever, but its on heading and soft) and they way it flies and want to make sure I will enjoy the Sabre also. Any thoughts? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  8. I am currently jumping a used Vector 3 container. I am just curious about the maintenance on the cutway cables and housings. How often are you suppose to clean them and what are you suppose to use for lubing the cables? Any help would be appeciated. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  9. I might be wrong but I believe that the USPA requires all students to wear an AAD until they recieve there A. So if you buy the equiptment now w/o an AAD you will not be jumping it until after you 25th jump. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  12. Just like you I am lucky to have my parents paying for my school. It is going to be a very nice thing not to have to pay loans when I get out of school. As for paying for skydiving: I happen to land a very sweet job while I was at school (teacher got me it). It not only pays well but it is also in the field of what I am studying. Last year I did two tandems (one with my mother) and really enjoyed skydiving. I spent the entire winter putting aside money for skydiving. I made sure that I had enough money to do it and also enough money in case something happen to my job. I informed my parents that I would be saving for skydiving and that it wouldn't interfer with other money obligations (I make payments on my car, cell phone, and insurance). What I thought I was going to spend on skydiving was nothing compared to what was actually spent. Remember not only do you have AFF to pay for but you also have to pay for renting gear and evenually getting your own stuff. I think I have spend maybe $7000 in skydiving this year (including a used rig). The biggest thing I do is to make sure that I thank my parents for putting me through school. They may not like skydiving but they sure do enjoy the smile I have on my face at the end of a jumping day (which I guess is a funny way to support me). If you can get yourself a job and pay for it yourself. Also tell them that you want to commit to this and maybe even give your parents some money each weel/month to show them that you really do care (it doesn't have to be much). In the end listen to all the people who have posted already, they are the ones with experience. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  13. It wasn't bad. I got stable right away, no problems there. Even did a 2-way and 3-way with no problems. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  14. 3:0:3 Did my 1st 3-way on Sunday, lots of fun. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  15. Congrats Brian!!!!! Just don't scare us like that again with that landing (J/K). Now get to getting your A! _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  16. Honestly I haven't decided yet. Yesterday was also the 1st time I jumped out with someone for fun (excluding the coach jumps) and basically we just had fun trying to dock up and spinning around. I thought skydiving was fun when I was doing solo's, now I think skydiving is the best when going out with people. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  17. Alright I made the jump and it was awesome! It was my first jump with my own gear and my spectre (although fast on landing) was awesome. Flying in normal clothes was no big deal. I had a somewhat snug fit long sleeve shirt (to keep me warm) and did just fine. Thanks guys for all the suggestions. # jumps tonight and still have the rest of the weekend, life is good. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  18. Thanks guys!!! I really wanted to just jump in plain clothes from day one, I dont know why but it just seems cool (plus the jumpsuit is very hot). I appeciate everyones advice and I will make sure I tuck everything in nice and tight, last thing I need is my handles covered. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks again! _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  19. I talked to my rigger about putting one on but since its a Vector 3 it would have to go back to RWS to get the right parts put in. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  20. Last Sunday(7-24-05) I did my 25th jump and recieved my "A" Lic. Since I was student I have always been jumping with a jump suit on. But now that I have my A I am free to go without one. Is it a big change jumping without a suit on? Am I going to find anything more difficult to do? My next jump will be my first jump with my own gear (My gear doesn't have an RSL and they wouldn't let me jump it until I got my lic) and I would really like to go out in just plain clothes if its no big deal. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  21. Wait, you can now use them to surf the net? Can you be anywhere? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  23. I think you should replace the batteries? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  24. A question from a newbie. Can't this be advoided with a proper gear check. I know that when you cocked a PC it changes the color of the line next to your main closing pin. If you include checking the line along with your other safety checks, this should reduce the chances of a PC in tow? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
