Hey Top, when did cross connectors fall out of favor? I understand why... I used them when CRW was young in the 70's but was away from the sport awhile in the 90's. That may be true, but I'd argue the baby boomers inherited those issues. The problem is, based on your attitude and my perception of your argument, your also not willing to become part of any kind of solution to what is clearly a problem. Do you have a solution to this problem that makes more sense? I'm not sure ignoring the issue by allowing any Tom, Dick or Mary to paste a camera on their forehead is the answer? I. for one. support stronger regulation and training with regards to cameras. And moreover, I'd be the first in line to get that training. On the flip side, I thought I was a fairly proficient belly flier until I got into a tunnel. I found out just how much work I needed. Hmm? I think the problem is pretty clear. People want to disregard USPA's recommendations and jump a camera whenever they damn well please. Just a couple of points of interest... a. C-license is the recommendation (not 200 jumps) b. and, that's the minimum requirement. c. I don't remember seeing any Mad Skillz exemption? IMHO as always... While shooting a tandem video, I was informed at the plane that the student's mother, an experienced but not so current jumper, would be joining us. The TI, who has many thousands of Tandem Jumps, ok'd it. so, I was fine with it. I did, however, keep an eye out for her. To make a long story short, she was all over the place. At least twice nearly flying thru the drogue. She never got near the student and is not seen in the video. At break off, she barely tracked away and I went lower than I like just to get any kind of separation. Flying with Tandems has it's dangers. Make sure you know what your doing. This is DZ.com, where the prevailing opinion of the populace forgets the adage that more rules create a greater illusion of safety, the only reason anyone would ever want to fly a camera is "mad skillz" or videotaping tandems, and education is frowned upon in favor of brute force restriction. Skydive Twin Cities has a very strong belly group with load organizers Thur, Sat, Sun. We have several 4 way National champions that call this place home. 8 and 9 way sequential skydives have become common place. On Weds, there are tracking and angle organizers. There's a lot of participation and training going on in this discipline. The Wingsuiter's are a large growing group and I believe Jake "Feather" still calls this home. Free fliers are all over the place and there are some very talented fliers including Freestyle National champs Carl & Merriah Eikins. Or, if your looking for some real excitement, Proz, Plozay or myself will take you up for some F-111 CRW. All that being said, the best thing about the place is the vibe. Good people, great DZO's, supportive community. Bon fires every Fri, Sat. Kid friendly, Free camping and one of the nicest grass landing areas you'll find. Give it a try!!!
