  1. Does anyone jump with this camera? Any experience with it would be appreciated.
  2. There is another option now that you might not now about. It is called Pinnacle Edition. Pinnacle bought it from a German company where it was known as FastDV. They have integrated many of the programs into it and released it under the name Edition. It is also the software version of their high end stand alone video editors. The program is rock solid and offers a few interesting features like auto save and background rendering. It saves automatically several times a second. If you pull the plug on the computer in the middle of a project when you open it back up every thing will be where you left it. I am buying a copy with a real time editing board. You should check it out before buy anything else.
  3. Exactly but it is the about the only way to bleed off speed mid swoop. I have done it before to swoop and stop on a spot.
  4. Pumping your brakes will bleed off some speed. You just have to be careful to not over do it.
  5. I don't think this thread is going to be of any use to most of the readers of this forum as it is not written in English.
  6. I have taken stills off video before and sold them to students on video but only when someone decided later they wanted stills. The major problem is that you would now have an extra step every time to record the stills on a CD.
  7. Have not jumped one but I have looked at them. Thye only obvious negative that I can see is the lanc port is under the same rubber cover as every other port. To hook into it you will have to remove that protective cover and all of your other ports will always be exposed.
  8. I couldn't get the link to work.Quote
  9. No one has even made a comment on this. Has anyone ever heard of this camera or does everyone think it is a bad idea for some reason I am missing?
  10. I don't know if you will see much of a drop because of those new models. Their price will be so much more than the D60 it should not affect it.
  11. Has anyone taken a close look at this camera. It is a revised version of the 7I. It does have a PC sync terminal for hooking up a remote switch. It is just over 5 MegaPix and has a 3 frame per sec continous shooting mode. The camera sells for just over $1000. Has anyone looked at it closely for skydiving? Looks interesting.
  12. What lenses do you use with your D60?

Icarus canopies seem to do the same thing. Not a big deal but I have noticed it and wondered why some canopies labels seem to last a lot longer. William
  14. What are "bayonet fittings"?
  15. Can you take your lens apart?
  16. I know I will not be able to wear my own video helmet. We were discussing either mounting a camera on a halo helmet or modifying a camera helmet to take the oxygen mask. What I am wondering is if the Video camera will function correctly under those conditions. William
  17. I have two FX99s. I load them at 2.4 to 1. I am very into high performance landings. The best canopy I have ever jumped for video is a Crossfire. I am sonsidering going back to Crossfire2s as I am looking at switching to a heavier camera setup. William
  18. Has anyone had any experience with shooting video at high altitudes like 30K feet? A friend of mine is planning some high altitude jumps and we would like to video it. I am curious to about what kind of camera problems you would have and if anyone has had succes shooting video at this altitude. William
  19. I would like to ad that slide film is a little more sensitive to camera settings. It is easier to correct exposure during processing with print film. Slide fim can be a little sharper at lower speeds but is totally unacceptable at anything over 400. Overall cost of slide film (film plus processing) is a little cheaper. Print film is easier to scan on a home scanner. You can find some good articles at www.photo.net/learn. William
  20. < BUT!! worst case scenario I've heard about is some dumbass picking the pilot BETWEEN the wing and the harness and dumping it. So the the bridle goes "thru" your suit...That might result in something not so ice...and then dumping the res in the mix? HUHH, no thanks...!!> I know that happened because I watched it happen. I don't like suits that have a gap between the wing and the body. He tosed it out a little and then it seemed to get sucked under his wing. William
  21. Dereck, Have you juped many FX s? If so how would you compare the crossfire 2 to an FX?
