  2. Well, I don't have one... I like being behind the camera... But I like your last avatar, I'd rather see your hottness than a road sign!

    Well... Ummm.... OK!
  14. As a private pilot, it's my understanding that unless the airport is marked private it's fair game for landing (unless of course as you stated in your question that is's a military field). You have to be carefull about that though because some airports will charge you ramp fees for landing. I would think that any airport that has ATC (i.e. government funded) that would make it fair game for GA traffic. As far as ATC loathing light aircraft, I'm not sure but I would think for the larger airports smaller and slower aircraft entering the pattern would make thing a little more compilcated. But then again I would also have to think the would have to deal with that on a regular basis so maybe they have SOP's for bringing in smaller aircraft in on the smaller cross runways. I have a friend that used to fly in/out of Memphis from time to time and from his point of view being in the lineup for departure in a small plane amongst all of the commercial and cargo planes can be somewhat imtimidating. Especially if you're about to go wheels up on departure and you realize the passenger door wasn't secured and flies open and your approach plates fly out causing one of the active runways to be closed down for half an hour while the ground crews walk the runways looking for them. Long story short they found his approach plates and brought them back to him while he was (back) in line for departure. Apparently one of the other pilots made some remark along the lines of 'What's this guy doing now... Having a pizza delivered'.
  15. WOW! That sounds incredibly familiar. That's almost exactly verbatim the last four or five years of my life. IMO, sounds like you're in a good place right now. I think there's a simple answer to your question and that is only one you can answer. If you're happy where you're at then no you shouldn't feel bad - you should be on top the world! I do have to wonder why you have to ask though...
  16. That's awesome! I'm gonna have to make it a point to swing by and jump with you guys next time I'm up that way visiting the parental units.
  17. Being an amateur photographer, I still find it hard sometimes to capture what I see with the camera doing all of the work. Artist that have the ability to see like a camera sees and put that on canvas, to me is remarkable. To be able to see the world like a camera and put the 'toon' twist on it and do it well is simply amazing to me. Nice work dude! The Eastwood theme is an awesome touch.
  18. Oh... I thought it was a tandem rig!

    C++ help!!

    Yep, that's one reason I got lazy - working with the same technology/platform for so long. I thought I'd never make a major switch from that (UNIX/C++). But now I've taken a perm position in a Microsoft (.NET) shop. Almost like starting over again... .NET is kinda cool at first glance (compared to J2EE stuff anyway). Yep, agreed... Debugging a real biotch of a bug sux, but really gratifying to find/fix.

    C++ help!!

    Regarding mathematical or logical order? I'd have to agree with you on the mathematical after thinking about it now. I'm probably just a little gunshy from C and the loose standards from long ago. I'm still pretty sure that the standard doesn't mandate that logical operations have to be evaluated from left to right. I could be wrong or could be remembering older standards but I sure I remember reading several warnings about short circuiting in C++. God, I must be getting old... I used to know these rules inside and out.

    C++ help!!

    First question 2: Both your answer and piratemike's answer would be correct. Sometimes I use extra parenthesis to make the expression clearer and to make sure that the order of operations is enforced. With Java the order of operations is guaranteed but, as piratemike said, with C++ it all depends on the implementation of the compiler as to what gets evaluated and in what order. Most implementations usually follow the correct mathematical order of operations with the standard mathematical operators but with logical operations you can't assume complex operations will be evaluated from left to right (i.e. short circuiting). Also the oddball ?: operation (which I use a lot) can be rather squirrely sometimes when it comes to evaluating non mathmatical expressions (e.g. object comparisons, function/method return values, etc...). As far as question 1, I have to agree with piratemike again. There are many answers to that question. One answer is if the variable will be used in calculations that will yield a value other than a whole number without having to explicitly having to cast. Other than that the other worry would be if you were going to assign a double value or a larger than int value to it but that's streching things a bit since the question seems to revolve around the declaration and not the use of the variable. I have to say question 1 is very poorly worded. Awfully vague. Good luck whith that one.
