The helmet it's always recommended when you jump in skydiving, motorbike, roller blade, bmx ecc. The full face helmet is a Must in base ! I use a Factory Diver it's great solution for good visual and protection ; It's very light and comfortable testing ! the Factory carbon fiber it's more expensive, but is very very light #726

I was thinking about Italy ! Italian terminal wall and Norwey are two best exit for first base wing suit in Europe for me ! The article "Advice for starting wing suit base" by James Boole are very interesting ! #726

The wind situation at the terminal wall in Italy is very particular ! The wind from the lake (South) generally rise half morning and drop at sunset particularly in summer. The situation are different if the wind come from nord or are perturbation wind, in this case can blow for whole day . Are very common have wind situation different between exit point/fly zone/and landing area. I have often experienced this situation and generally when the wind have various direction (Stratifield) the turbolence are very common, particularly at sunset. I don't no the real reason of this situation, i presume be tied at valley morphology and lake presence !
