Okay. I'm in the early, tentative stages of a relationship with what seems like a great guy, except -- HE'S A WHUFFO. In my experience, dating whuffos causes: 1) the guy to feel emasculated because his woman has more balls than he ever will, thus making him hostile 2) the guy to feel abandoned, because his woman is off jumping out of planes and getting drunk with other guys every weekend, thus making him hostile I have a few ideas, including dragging him to the DZ and strapping him in the co-pilot's seat for an observer ride, or buying him a tandem for his birthday. Anybody got ideas/experience with this?

True dat. I remember those days, looking out at a beautiful sky and not able to make my legs move to the car. But I managed to do it, sometimes, by telling myself I didn't HAVE to jump once I got out there, and more than once I would just hang out and chat and get razzed for not jumping.

HELL YEAH! On my last lift, I was sitting up against the pilot's seat, just grinning, looking around at the full load, looking out the window at the sky, feeling the wind from the little window by the pilot whip my hair around, and I turned to my friend, an AFF instructor with an L-4 student in front of him, and I tugged on his sleeve, and I grinned at him and yelled, "I LOVE DOING THIS!" And he grinned back and said, "ME TOO!" Then I jumped out of the airplane.

I pale.

So I have this, um, friend. Let's call her Jennifer. "Jennifer" went skydiving the other day, and there were a lot of puffy industrial haze concentrations, but there were also tons of holes. "Jennifer" was horny for a jump, so she manifested for a solo, and was on a load with some freeflyers, one more solo (REALLY inexperienced skydiver, just out of AFF) and a couple of AFF jumps. Anyway, "Jennifer," who planned to pull at 4K, exited after the freefly groups but before the other solo, who planned to pull at 4.5K. She realized at about 6K that if she pulled at 4K, she would definitely be dumping in clouds, er, industrial haze. She really didn't want to go lower than she'd told people she was going, even though she was pretty sure the freeflyers were waaaaay below her. So she hit the cloud, dumped at 4K, opened in whiteness, then OH MY GOD saw another freefalling body dump REALLY FREAKING CLOSE and just above. Cripes, it scared me. I mean, her. This guy was probably about 100 yards from "Jenn" when he dumped. He later claimed that he could see her just fine, and that there was plenty of separation. Jenn has her doubts. This guy was supposed to give about 7 seconds of separation; could he have ended up that close to her if he had? Should she have gone "low" (probably 3.5K or 3K) to avoid dumping inside the haze? TIA. J

I can only shake my head sadly when I see someone who can be coherent and perceptive one moment, then completely irrational the next. I'll try to put this plainly. You are correct in your original assessment of April and me. However, you are not only erroneous in your declaration that the Stars suck, but also in the inherent implication that the Stars, at any time in the past, have sucked. Have you considered seeking professional help? The stress of your having a suck-ass hockey team may have contributed to your problems dealing with reality. GO STARS!!!!

What hasn't? But yeah, still cool. I'm headed out there Saturday night, then out to SDD on Sunday to cure my hangover.

Hahahah! I fell for that on jump, like, 20! I'm such a moron! They were screwing with a tandem's head, but I'd never heard of the trick so I didn't know what the hell was going on. I clutched the floor of the plane and looked around wildly until I realized WTF.

Corking? Funneling? What do they mean? I've picked up a lot of lingo since I started this foolishness but I can't gather the meanings of these two from context clues.
