    Guns!

  2. I am enjoying, with one minor problem: I think I've decided computers are pretty boring. Oh well. :)
  3. Hey Folks, Not sure who's around, but I used to be a bit a of a regular here. I'm not posting in the introductions forum, 'cause darn it, I've been here before. These days I'm a bit of a born again whuffo. Skydiving took a bit of a backseat to finishing up school and finding something to do next. I've been on the ground for about a year and a half, which is a bummer, but lately I've been feeling the bug rearing it's ugly, wonderful head telling me I have to start thinking about jumping again sometime soon. The problem is, I found a way to make myself even poorer than when I was in school. I put my do-gooder ideals to the test, and joined Americorps, which is sort of a Peace-Corps-lite. Right now I'm halfway through spending a year in central Washington State working in a low-income school doing technology teaching and whatnot- specifically, I'm posting to DZ.com at the moment on your tax dollar. Muhaha. Unfortunately, all the future plans I've come up with so far-more Americorps, more school, Peace Corps, aren't the sort of thing that generate a lot of jumping money. Oh well, I'll get my ass out of the plane again sometime before too long, no matter how I figure it out. Anyhow, that's it for my cheesy re-introduction, I hope to hear from some folks who remember me, and, if you're all very lucky, I just may start hanging out here again some. Dan-still a student, lost his logbook. :)

    Yikes!

Hmmm... who wants to try doing some Static Line training here? Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  5. Someone hasn't seen the swirly colors that thing can make when you turn it on all by itself. :) Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  6. Tell me about it. I bought a Playstation 2 yesterday and it just doesn't do anything for me. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  7. I think Head Honcho forgot to leave the keys under the doormat. If anyone wants to join, download some IRC software, such as mIRC from www.mirc.com, install it, and connect to the server "www.dropzone.com" Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  8. And here I am, still plodding towards "Old Hand." Sigh. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  9. Yeah, but only when they're dressed up nice, right? Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."

    ugh

Hey, we're not talking about the Gom Jabar here, just a 15 second delay. :) Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."

    ugh

Man, I almost cried yesterday when I was driving down the freeway and stuck my hand out the window. I'm so fucking sick of video games it's not even funny, but I'm too damn scared to jump. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  12. No time for sex in freefall? Sheesh, the longest I've done is a 10 second delay, and I find myself wondering what I'd do with the extra three seconds... Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  13. They're more or less the same... I mean, you get on the plane, take off your pants, lie back and... hey, wait a sec! Come to think of it, my jumpmaster may have been using me. "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  14. Driving's not safe. I didn't mean to say it is. Skydiving, however, really is quite dangerous. You're certainly right about being able to minimize the risks, but they will always be there. I don't want to start a flame war here. My only concern is that people can easily fall prey to bad math. At the risk of offending the early poster who mentione riptides, that's not a fair example. To draw any reasonable comparison, you'd have to find out how many people participate in such activities. I'd be willing to wager that a lot more people go swimming in a year than go skydiving, so we're kind of talking apples and oranges here. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
  15. At the risk of sounding like a crusty old rec.skydiver, skydiving is not safe. It is significantly more dangerous than driving to the Dropzone, and you're doing someone a disservice if you try to convince them otherwise. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."
