  1. Ask for Vladimir at Skydive Snohomish. He and Tyson made my daughter's 18th bday special last May. He also took me for a jump after my daughter, and I got hooked. Just finished my A. 2. The family thing is cool. I never thought I would skydive - my daughter wanted a tandem for her 18th b-day last year. I took her to do it, said what the heck, if Katie can do it, so can I. As soon as I hit the ground, I said I was signing up for lessons. Just got my A. Thanks, Kate for getting me into this! Love, Dad "We saved your gear. 3. 4. Thanks everybody, I can't wait to get there. Will bring my rig. It's still cold up here, and hard to find people willing to jump in the cold. Blue skies, Ed "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  5. Good point. I have just never travelled with the gear on an airline and am a little nervous about the TSA. I know there is a lot of info on DZ about it though. Ed "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  6. Thanks Jen, and Mark. Sounds like a great place. I will be there mid week, April 11-15, so was glad to see they get loads up then. I was debating hauling my rig vs renting - I use a Jav too, what kind of mains do they have on their rentals? Ed "We saved your gear. 7. I will be in Melbourne/Palm Bay area for a week in April for some family business, helping my Dad. It is close to Sebastian, and I was hoping to get a few jumps in while there. I just got my A, have done some jumping in Lake Wales this winter, and was wondering what Sebastion would be like for a newbie. Any suggestions on special hazards or problems there? Are they newbie friendly? Thanks, Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "

  9. ""Oh well, I guess I will just truly have to come up with the $$$. Have to figure out how YOU are gonna EARN it tho Scott "" Can you let us know how the negotiations turn out?? "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "

  11. I am looking at a used rig that has an appropriate main and reserve for my level, but theharness is a C-18, and according to the charts on the Sunpath web site, I would need a C-16 or 17 - I am 5'8", and 170#. Is it easy to change a harness? Or is there enough margin in the harness that a C-18 would work for me?? Thanks in advance, Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. 12. Great story. Congrats, and continue having fun. I can't wait to get back in the air now. Ed "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  13. Way to go!! I did my first solo at Lake Wales in Dec. after finishing AFF and doing a few more coached jumps. My instructor/coach told me I was going up alone next time. He said the jump would seem like a long one, and with no one else to worry about and no skills to perform for the instructor, it did seem like a long freefall. Exited at 14k, did some turns and flips, wow, still at 10k, watched the scenery, really felt relaxed, it was great!! Loved your Karaoke story - laughed my ass off. 14. Sheeit, Dan, I was just watching a video of my level 5 AFF, kicked my instructor twice in the head doing my turns, which turned from a 360 to an uncontrolled 720 or whatever. You looked great. Wouldn't have known you did an extra back flip if you hadn't tattled. It only gets more fun. Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" 15. I feel your pain. Learned to propack with an instructor for my "A", packed and jumped my own pack, pulled high "just in case", (still here, no reserve ride, so apparently it worked) and decided the $5 is the way to go. Shit, I'll just work an extra shift a month and apply it to packing. Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  16. Hey Tim, It gets better. I'm still a little apprehensive, but more of an "excited, can't wai to go " apprehension now, unlike the extreme anxiety of my earlier jumps. I asked my instructor when the fear would pass - I was past AFF and doing coached jumps with him - he made me go solo my next jump. I was still nervous, but after that, realized that I could handle it, didn't need my hand held. It's actually a GREAT feeling to conquer the fear. Just talking about it I can't wait to get in the air for my next jump. Part of the draw of the sport is the fear, apprehesion, adrenaline, and reward of surviving what most people only dream of doing. Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. 17. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Grant, I appreciate your comments. I AM working on my altitude awareness - have done 16 jumps since the incident, and have been extremely altitude aware. I haven't gotten an audible yet, don't actually plan to for a while, but eventually feel an audible would be another safety factor. Blue skies, Ed "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  18. Just go for it, and enjoy. Enough time for other stuff later. But life is short. I often wish I had taken time for fun and adventure at your age, but it was college, med school, marriage, work, kids, more work, divorce, alimony. Started Scuba at 40 and skydiving at 52 - and wish I had done both a lot sooner. Have fun, be safe. Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. 19. I think I am going to get an audible, but believe me, this incident has kicked my butt as far as re-thinking about altitude awareness - AND paying attention to rule #1 - PULL. Heading to Lake Wales in a week to jump and hopefully finish up skills for my "A" If I had landed on the green, would it have been a birdie or an eagle?? Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. 20. My daughter wanted to do a tandem on her 18th birthday. I took her to Skydive Snohomish, and decided if whe was going to do it, I would too. Scared the crap out of me when the door opened at 12K, but as soon as I hit the ground, I knew I had to do it. It is AWESOME. Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  21. Welcome. There are quite a few scuba addicts that also jump. After my first jump, a tandem, when I landed, I said on video "this might replace scuba". I'm still scuba diving, will do my 900th dive in Coz next month, but skydiving is awesome, and I seemyself devoting much more of my time and money to skydiving in the future. Have fun and jump safe, Ed in Spokane "We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
  22. Craig, Thanks for your comments. Yep - I did get counseled by the S&TA, and deserved it. That's what I love about this forum - so many are willing to share their screw ups and help us all learn from them. Regards, Ed "We saved your gear.
