    Canon 40D

Sounds alot like a 30D with a larger sensor..... And the 30D is basically a 20D with uprgaded firmware, larger LCD Screen, and Spot Metering.... Edit to add: In the Swedish article it also says they added 3 custom setting banks and weather sealed the body like the D200. Sounds like it will be more competitive with the Nikon at a lower price. 2. That's a pretty big jump for a step up ring - think the 25-37-43 is pretty much your only option and the vignetting with that setup is gonna suck... Action©Sports
  3. Converters are pretty cool but they do require a bit more in the way of tinkering if you want to get the most out of them. And DSE is right. Don't worry about the IS at that focal length. Normally, you'd want your mimum shutter speed to be the reciprocal of the focal length of the lens for sharp hand held shots. But, you can still get nice clear shots well below that without IS if you learn how to track your subject smoothly. Action©Sports
  4. You're gonna love it! I took these over the weekend during our practice sessions at the track. He was running about 115 mph. 9491.jpg 9492.jpg I was using my new Nikon D200 with the 80-200mm F2.8 with a 2x Teleconverter (basically a 600mm at F5.6) hand held a 1/125 sec. Fast lenses are expensive but man are they fun
  5. Yep - pretty much sums it up. The physical product is identical except that product names are often different in different countries so the badges on your lens or camera might be a little different. And of course, the warranty isn't as nice. I've picked up quite a few grey market lenses without a single problem - B&H gives a one year warranty with their grey market stuff too.... Action©Sports
  6. That GIMP program looks pretty cool. Think I'll give that stuff a try.... Action©Sports

Nice! Really like the bokeh of that lens... Action©Sports
  9. Snakes are cool. Used to have a 7 foot Red Tail Boa named Slinky. Pretty dossile pet unless your a rat..... Action©Sports
  10. You can always try this In a nutshell, it says to remove the battery and the tape, then give the cam a good whack or two, put the battery back in and try it out Action©Sports
  11. Love the freestyle pics, Laszlo. Very nice! Action©Sports
  12. I'd still much rather wear my 13lb camera helmet than a 200 lb tandem student. Tandem students do some freaky stuff up there I'm pretty glad I can just backslide away and watch the TM deal with that shit Not to mention the fact that TM's have to jump whatever gear the DZ supplies. At some DZ's that's cool, at others, not so cool. I've filmed enough tandems to know that I want absolutely no part of it.....I'll pay for my own gear and jump my own gear, thank you very much........ Action©Sports
  13. That's the price you pay though. I used to do that every weekend......even though I knew it would eventually bite me in the ass........again......it just takes too much out of ya to jump, pack, dub, repeat, all day long Action©Sports
  14. Ain't life grand? I've had my fair share of ass crackers on camera jumps and it does suck bad. Ended up on my back for 4 months after one and lost a complete $4,500 set-up on another. The only effect it had on my gear was the video camera zooming in and out.....no problem with the stills Action©Sports

  16. Not a problem...good luck Action©Sports
  17. I picked up this one It's enough to clean you sensor at least a hundred times. It does take some practice.....just read the info on the page and take your time. I got mine nice and clean in 3 tries my first time around Edit: Don't spray anything in to your camera - it just blows the crap around Action©Sports
  18. This page gives you step by step instructions on how to clean it yourself. I picked up his cleaning kit for $30 or $40 or something like that. The kit lasts for a long time and it makes for quick and easy cleaning. Just take your time and be very gentle. The low pass filter (which is what you're actually cleaning) is pretty delicate and if you scratch it, you're fucked.... http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning Action©Sports

    New Toys!

That's what I'm planning on! I can't wait to try it out at the track this weekend. It's going to be fun to see how the focus lock on and tracking performs while shooting motorcycles flying by at over 100 mph. Action©Sports

    New Toys!

UPS man dropped them off this morning
  21. Don't you take a tax deductions for all that stuff? I sure do. I deduct the cost of my photo gear, my skydiving gear, editing stations, travel expenses, training jumps etc.... Action©Sports
  22. Wow! I have to say that pretty much blows. You might want to consider moving Our DZ supplied a very nice video room with DVD burners, mixing tables, title editors, cd players, etc.. There was even a coded lock on the door so we could store our gear in there if we wanted to. They also supplied DVD's or VHS tapes and 35mm film. We had to supply our own camera gear, skydiving gear, and Mini DV tapes. For that we were paid $34 per jump. I really can't bitch. Action©Sports
  23. +1 They should have started filming at 2K instead of 15. Action©Sports
  24. What's the problem, really? Where I used to work, us vidiots would make between 15 and 40 tandem vids a weekend. Of course it depends upon weather and bookings etc but say on average, 20 vids a weekend....that's about $600 (we did make a bit more than $30 but not much). So that means you would have to work all of 4 weekends to make up the cost of your gear....is that really that bad? I hear people bitch about it all the time and I just don't get it. My camera helmet cost around $4500 to put together but I've made enough money filming tandems to pay for two of those helmets, both of my rigs, two extra film cameras, two more digital SLR's, a couple trips to Rantoul, a couple trips out to Eloy, and I still had plenty of money left over..... You're getting paid to skydive - sure it could be better but, it's still a pretty good gig Action©Sports
