Be sure camera is off before pluggin in the Cameye
Zee replied to sasteam's topic in Photography and Video
I've only had two since I began shooting video back in 2000. The first one flew away with my FTP at 3000 feet back in 02 and I've been using the second one ever since. I never use the button on the CamEye though, just the indicator light..... Action©Sports -

The damage could easily be in your LANC port as opposed to the CamEye. I've plugged mine in under power many times without any issues at all. My LANC port has taken a few hits over the years and has begun to flake out every now and then. Find another camera with a known good LANC port and try it out on it - then you can isolate the problem. Action©Sports -
Shouldn't be a problem. They have helicopter and fixed wing flight training at Harvey Field where Skydive Snohomish is located. It was never a problem when I worked up there.... Action©Sports

You already know the answer to that question - Of course they can I saw a good quote the other day. Something like "The best camera designed by engineers is a canon. The best camera designed by photographers is a nikon." To me the decision just came down to size, weight, and ease of use for skydiving. Nothing competes with the canon digital rebel series for that. ...But there are other reasons why canon has a ~46% market share vs Nikon's 14%. (Just stirring the pot ) Dave I've never heard that one before....but now that I have, I'd say it's spot on. Action©Sports

Thanks! That's one of my personal favorites. I'm glad you like it. It was neither a Nikon nor a Canon - I took that shot with a Minolta Maxxum 7/Sigma 15mm fisheye on ISO 100 Fuji Provia Slide Film Action©Sports

Cool. Does that mean you forgive me for the shameless thread jack? I wasn't kidding about the T-Dub either. I had so much fun on that thing - sand dunes, curbs, asphalt, mud, that thing will go all over the place. I was looking at getting one but I just don't have any more room in the garage. Eh, it's not that bad. It costs about the same to adjust the valves on my Honda. It just has to be done twice as often he he..... Action©Sports

When I lived up in Seattle, I had this little asshat of a neighbor who used to practice violin at 2:00am every night Action©Sports

Not too bad, really. About $700 to have the valves adjusted every 7500 miles. I can do that myself on an inline 4, but I've never messed with Desmodromic valves so I guess I'll leave it up to the dealer....at least until the warranty expires Short answer.....you don't he he Here's a little sound clip Leo Vince Action©Sports

Those things are sweet! I rode one of those during a course I took a while back. It was a freakin' blast to ride. I just picked up a new set of wheels myself. It's no T-Dub...but it'll do. Bike 1 Bike 2 Bike 3 Action©Sports

Same as the newer ones but without the latch cover.... Action©Sports

Yeah, I'm one of those lucky ones All it took was an opening with 12 line twists and a riser slap - bye bye FTP..... Action©Sports

Yeah, you really should chop that sight post off. Once mine was sighted in I just chopped it off even with the clamp and rounded off the edge. Action©Sports

I just got Vegas a while back - have to give it try. Thanks for the tip.... Dayum...yer quick Action©Sports

That's one of the things I love about my D200 - when you select Spot Metering, it meters on the selected focus sensor, so you can effectively Spot Meter anywhere in the frame without recomposing your shot. Action©Sports

Back lit shots aren't really that hard to pull off. Spot metering on the subject will help a lot (although I don't think the XT, XTi, or D20 have that option). When you have your camera in Auto Mode it "usually" calculates the exposure as an average. When you have the sun in the frame it causes the meter to under expose the image. Try to frame your subject without the sun in the background or push your exposure by a stop or two. I used Spot Metering on these shots.... Exit 1 Exit 2 Exit 3 Action©Sports

I used to jump the Maxxum 7 before I switched to digital and it's a fantastic camera. When the 7D (The Alpha is just Sony's version of the 7D) finally came out I picked one up since I already had a good collection of lenses. It worked great for skydiving - no problems with the image stabilizer at all. I eventually began to have problems with the camera back focusing so I sent it back and had it re-calibrated but it started again after a few weeks. I eventually sold it and switched to Nikon gear. Before you pick up an Alpha, take a look at the lens selection. It's not very comprehensive and the "A" mount lenses are very expensive. Action©Sports

No, they're not. But the Sigma is. If you're going to use it on a DSLR the fisheye effect is all but removed though.. This one was taken with a Sigma 15mm on a standard 35mm body This one was taken with the same 15mm on a DSLR Action©Sports

I just bought this remote and wired it to a Conceptus tongue switch. Edit: I haven't seen any commercially available bite switches for the Nikon Pro Series cameras.... Action©Sports

Nice! I just picked up a D200 a few months back and absolutely love it. Not really in the market to upgrade just yet . Fantastic shots of the CRW formations too - very colorful and some original angles. Action©Sports

A business plan? lol! Sorry man, but if you're friend is looking for a good investment, ask him to pay for your college degree and just give him half your salary for the rest of your life. You might be able to support yourself by working as a year round, full time, tandem videographer but, unless you turn out to be something truly exceptional, you'll never turn a profit for the investor. The regular L-Bracket that comes with the FTP can rotate any way you want it. I rotate my still camera all the time. It even stays properly sighted when I rotate it too. Action©Sports
