  1. Use Firefox. It's got some pretty powerful cookie management features built in.
  2. Do you know what's really hard to estimate at 2000ft? Descent rate. By the time you figure out that your canopy is descending inadvisably fast, it may be too late to get something else over your head. That's why I'd err of the side of getting off it. The chances of a reserve malfunction are an awful lot lower than the chances of me mis-estimating the survivability of landing my damaged parachute.

  4. Speaker's Corner is down the hall... Lazy clichés are second door on the left.
  5. Ha. You trying to get her kicked out of the restaurant?
  6. Probably served by one of the ad providers. There's a thread in Errors & Bug Reports on this topic. Might be worth adding this info to that thread.

    C++ help!!

    Depends on your processor. Not on a PowerPC, for example. They're fundamentally different. One is a long integer and one is a double precision floating-point number. As you say, that depends on your compiler. The spec only mandates that a long int is at least as large as an int. long is a synonym for long int. Microsoft Visual C++ 2002, for example, uses 4 bytes for both an int and a long. Unless the C++ spec is being ignored in your space (and that's quite possible), a double must be a floating point number. More here. C may be different - I don't know what's mandated by the spec wrt data types.

    C++ help!!

    While the above statement is technically correct, I don't think that it answers the actual question that was posed. It answers the C++ part of the question. Knowing the difference between an integer and a double-precision floating point number is not a C++ problem. It's part of the most basic fundamentals of computer science. If the OP/you/anyone on this thread is unclear on the difference, he/you/they really need to sit down with Google or a good book and do a lot of reading. Me giving him the answer here won't help him to help himself, which is the object of the exercise.

    C++ help!!

    There's better things to use your brain for. I always use brackets to make precedence obvious, because it makes understanding the code at a later date so much easier. And since debugging is twice as hard as writing code, that's a damn good thing.

    C++ help!!

    You sure? My copy of The C++ Programming Language has a table of operator precedence. (Section 6.2; p120 in the 3rd ed).

    C++ help!!

    1. int is for integers. double is double-precision floating point. 2. Precedence. If those answers don't enlighten you, go get a good book on C++ and spend time with it. Effective C++ by Scott Myers is one such. C++ is not an easy language and if you're struggling with such relatively simple concepts you need to spend significantly more time on the fundamentals of computer science - an understanding of the two questions you asked are fundamental to effective programming in many languages. You won't be writing Java or C# without understanding 'em. edit: I misread q2 and thought it was on about { }. Changed.
  12. How do you propose to test for judgment and calmness under pressure when things go wrong?
  13. Everything?...... Yep. Including moderation.
  14. Is it forbidden to discuss JVX issues here?! No, not at all. Jim is banned from dz.com for, as I understand it, continually posting advertisements.

    AAD ?

    New, they're easy to come by. The Cypres & Cypres2 have been around significantly longer than the Vigil and Argus. Therefore they're more likely to have the bugs worked out, making them more reliable in more situations.
  16. A post in Gear & Rigging might bring some interesting feedback - there's some professional demo jumpers and extremely experienced riggers hanging out in there. Cool photo by the way. Just needs a can of Tennants Super and a fish supper to complete the picture .

    NONONONONO me gets into toooooo much mischief when im pissed lol I can't think of a better time to go out and get into a little mischief.
  18. They break down too much. Super Otter. Reliable, fast, safe, bulletproof. Caravan & 750XL are significantly cheaper to run though.
  19. - Number of jumps on lineset? - Condition of (& number of jumps on) pilot chute? - How much free line between last stow and top of risers.
  20. Despite the weather bug, the IPC isn't in Shannon. Shannon does have a fucking huge airport though with a massive landing area and direct flights from the East Coast of the USA.
  21. You sure? The Safire2 has a reputation for great openings. How many jumps on the lines? How well does the canopy fit in the bag?
  22. Borrow a Katana and a VX in the same size. The VX is renowned for high front-riser pressure. I have at least one friend that passed on it because of that characteristic. He was performing his turns at the limit of his strength. That's not ideal, so now he's on a XAOS-27. The Katana has (comparatively) light front riser pressure. Almost scarily so. Check the early reviews of the canopy on this forum for more...
