  1. Oh crap, you're right... they might get rid of Locke. After last night's show it would be too obvious and convenient to get rid of Boone. They'll probably have Locke go back to the hatch and then disappear into it.. whatever it's a metaphor of. Then... they'll send out a search party, and find Locke's knife or something by the hatch. That sucks. Now you've bummed me out. I hope you're wrong, but what you said makes sense.
  2. Hurley is awesome, but I love Sawyer... for the eye candy! I want Kate to end up with Sawyer, but now that she knows he's got a V.D. ... yuck. I just read somwhere that the person they kill is a male, and it's someone everyone really likes, and that we'll be shocked. If I had to eliminate someone, it would be Boone. Wouldn't it be crazy if it was Jack who died?!?!
  3. Perhaps there are April Fool jokes throughout the magazine, and they want to see who notices them. I can't imagine April 2004 being put there by "accident" since they have editors..... so I'm guessing it's all part of the "how many goofs can you notice?" april fool edition.
  4. according to this article she's definitely expecting... http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2005/Mar-24-Thu-2005/news/26145937.html here's the text: The Scene and Heard You heard it here first: Britney Spears ... not a girl, soon to be a mommy. She's pregnant. Look for the announcement any day now. ... hmmm... i wonder how long 'til her hubby cheats on her.
  5. I had the same problem with them. If you don't say anything or hit anything, you automatically get transferred to a live person sooner.
  6. I guess this answers my question about "drying out" by the weekend. At least the swoop pond will be full.
  7. Any chance Perris will dry out by the weekend? Here's a tiny view of the rain-soaked dz: http://www.skydiveperris.com/cams/webcams.asp?c=m From Laurie's post it sounds like it's more flooded that this cam view indicates. I hope at least the North field is a bit dryer by Sat.
  8. WOW.... you guys are dedicated! I won't go up if it's below 60 degrees (more like 65 degrees) on the ground. I guess we're a bit spoiled in the warmer climates. I don't like wearing gloves, so if it's cold enough for my fingers to freeze without them, I won't do it.
  9. A full face helmet would have been a good idea, but I'm a freeflyer! And it's 83 degrees here, so my head would have been hot.
  10. I was walking back to work from my lunchtime walk and these two men were standing on the sidewalk. Just when I got within a foot or two, the one with his back to me gestured with his hand, and whacked me square in the face. OUCH. If I wasn't as tall, I would have had a black eye. Fortunately, he hit my mouth. There was no blood or broken teeth. He felt SOOO bad. He and his friend were apologizing and pretty mortified. I told them not to worry about it. Things like this happen all the time in freefall. I just never expected to get hit on the ground. No harm, no foul.
  11. Any thoughts I've ever had of moving to England just went out the window. If I had to deal with this much rain on a regular basis I'd turn into an alcoholic for sure. As it is I'm losing my mind from not being able to jump for so long. Hey, how's it looking down in Perris? Has the pool overflowed yet?
  12. I've been promised a kiss pass on Xmas Day. Living somewhere w/ warm weather year-round totally ROCKS!
  13. Mike - Thanks for the info. I just finished the article and sent it along to Skydiving. It's pretty brief, but I included all the relevant info, including the fact that you guys did great and had fun.
  14. Can someone please tell me the current Pieces of Eight record? Is it 12? I know they were trying for 17 this past October. Also, if anyone was on the jump, could you tell me approximately how many attempts (jumps) were made over the course of the weekend. Thanks!
  15. My office is really quiet too. It's Veteran's Day. All of the Federal employees are off. My boss is out, too.... so my "productive" work consists of surfing the internet, wandering the halls looking for candy, and I/M'ing a dz.com friend in the Northwest.
  16. This is pretty fun: http://www.shockwave.com/sw/content/freefall
  17. Lindaaaaa..... what are the chances that the landing area will be "moderately" dry by the weekend? Is it gonna be another North field landing weekend? Wow, I'm glad I don't have a white jumpsuit. It's not nice, but ya gotta laugh at people who come back mud covered!
  18. I'm wearing a dress today, which is SO out of character for me. I clean up real nice though. Sometimes I wear a dress to work just to freak them out. My office is WAY casual. Some day I should wear my Da'Kine pants to see their reaction. When I stop at the gas station before heading to the DZ, the people there think I'm a circus clown.
  19. "The Genesis space capsule, which had orbited the sun for more than three years in an attempt to find clues to the origin of the solar system, crashed to Earth today after its parachute failed to deploy." hahahaaa!!!! OMG... that is SO funny. The press really loves using that phrase! Whether it's in skydiving or space technology. Just ONCE, I'd like to read "the parachute deployed, but became entangled [spiraled, collapsed after opening, slammed into a tree, etc.]. Not that any of these situations are funny, but when I read the fark article I had to chuckle.
  20. The current topics under "Skydiving Disciplines" are great, but it would be nice if there was one for skysurfing. I know there's not a LOT of people who skysurf, but I think it would be helpful for those who do. As someone who's planning on starting soon, I'd certainly read it.
  21. Rans knows he's my favorite Washingtonian ever. I could tell he was jealous about the cool titaniun rod in my right femur and hip, and had to have one of his own. Now... about that skyboard bouncing up... crap, that can't really happen, right? Ouch... I imagine it would hurt more if I bopped someone on the head with it, rather than landing and doing my tumbling routine. I'm almost a pro at that now.

  23. OK, somebody has to remember the joke I'm talking about! It was more like an essay, where it was describing how you don't want to let the bear eat you. Ummm.... like, hold onto your shotgun in freefall. I wish I could remember where I first saw it. SOMEBODY? ANYBODY?
