  1. I'm planning on some tunnel time next month, and was wondering if anyone had some good advice for getting into a decent sit. I have a stable sit/HD in the air, but I hear the tunnel is harder. Thanks!
  2. I just got back from a weekend in Eloy, and I have to say that the DZ rocks! Since I was alone, I was afraid I'd have trouble finding freefliers to play with... but everyone turned out to be super friendly and more than willing to jump with me. The staff there was extremely helpful and friendly, and the planes turned quickly.
  3. Maybe nobody will be there and I'll just have to hang out w/ you and X at Perris. No worries. After all, there will be free beer, so at least I won't feel the cold too much in my naughty cop costume.
  4. Zen.. Yeah, I remember your Infinity. It's nice! I'll be at Eloy this weekend, for the Halloween Boogie, so I'd like to check out the Talon. I've heard great things about them. I guess it will all depend on which container feels most comfortable. So many choices!
  5. oops... I see that post now. I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
  6. I need to get a new container which is more freefly friendly than the one I currently have (a very old Naro). Does anyone have any recommendations on which one(s) you find most comfortable and stays shut really well?
  7. She's ok. I asked a jumper at Perris about it, who was there with her. He said she experienced some kind of vertigo/dizziness, so after the 2nd round she had to stop. Forunately no serious injury or anything.
  8. Taurus Ibuprofin - that's kinda catchy. Plus, I'm a Taurus, so it makes my name extra special.
  9. Hawaii.... fish tacos, great weather, hot skydives, gorgeous beaches, cool hiking, volcanoes!, umm.. skydiving!
  10. I was shocked to hear from one of the skydivers at my DZ that Ian Bellis passed away a few weeks ago. Is this true? I was told that he was hit by a car. Ian was one of my first skydiving instructors, many years ago... and I was shocked to hear that he was gone. I don't believe in speculation, so could someone please tell me what actually happened. If this is true, my sympathies go out to his family and friends.
  11. How ironic.... i just donated platelets yesterday. I have a rare blood type, so they call me up fairly often. I don't mind doing it. Only problem is that my veins are shallow, so in one arm they have a problem. Next time I go they're going to try the one needle method. Donating is a good thing to do. Yes, it's uncomfortable and takes a few hours... but it saves life.. and definitely makes a difference in the lives of leukemia patients.
  12. I'm a freeflier who is interested in trying skysurfing, however, I'm a little concerned about the safety issue. Could any skysurfers out there tell me how much more dangerous things are when you strap on a board, and what malfunctions can occur and ways to avoid them? I know a couple of guys with WAY more jumps than me who have had to cut away their board. I can sit, stand and fly headdown well. Thanks!

    Head down

It took me about 300 jumps before I was comfortable in a stable head down position, with the ability for forward and backward movement, and minor turns. Everyone here is right.. it varies from person to person. The ability to relax is a big factor, and working with a competent coach or L.O. helps a lot, too.
  14. Bytch.... I thought it was Pat McGowan's birthday? I like your suggestions. We'll all have to wish Jack a big happy farewell!
  15. I was all jazzed for the all-you-can-jump weekend here in So.Cal, and now we're expecting a big rain storm. sooo... my question is.. "What can we do for fun on the DZ when it rains?" Watching videos grows old. Drinking? hmmm... there's a thought. Anyone have any fun or interesting suggestions???
  16. If anyone here has an AD license, could you please tell me how many jumps you had when you tested for it? What is the average jump number for people who have it? I have around 525, but I feel as if I'll never be proficient enough on my head to pass the test.
  17. Has anyone been freeflying in the tunnel? If so, do you think it is an effective learning tool? I keep thinking that the wind speed won't be high enough to work on head down, or even transitions. Which tunnel would you recommend going to?
  18. Hey all... I'd like to become more knowlegeable about rigging, and my gear in general. Does anyone know of a decent book or video that I could get that would explain a lot of general stuff? Basically I'd like to know the ins and outs of hooking things up, fixing minor issues, minor modifications.. without having to go thru a rigger. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  19. Millenium 3.. Liquid Sky... from Speedcurve Productions. Has a lot of awesome footage from the Space Games, 10 way/3 point record attempt, cool team stuff, etc... also great music. It was my motivation when I started freeflying... I'd get frustrated and then watch that and TOTALLY want to improve my skills so that I could someday do the stuff that they were doing on that video.
  20. Thanks for the great advice. It DOES sound hard to do. Guess I'll just have to keep practicing until I'm a rockin' freefly chick. I'll start with the side movements that you mentioned and we'll see how that goes.
  21. Now that I have the hang of head down flying, including forward and backward movement, I'm wondering of someone could tell me what I need to do in order to carve. Whenver an experienced freeflyer is carving around me, it looks like they're just arching more.. and.. umm.. bending one leg? Not sure.... that's why I'm asking you guys! Thanks.
  22. Does anyone know when the freeflying events start?
  23. I've travelled with my rig on 3 flights within the past 2 months (all on Southwest Airlines). Some airports are stricter than others. At Burbank airport they wig out a bit, then the supervisor comes over and you give them the Cypres card and stay cool and everything is fine. Same deal at Phoenix. Oakland airport didn't even bat an eye. I think it's all how you act. Oh yeah.. they let a friend of mine thru with her rig, but then made her take her sneakers off!!!
