  1. It's like graduating college; you're excited to be moving to a new stage of life but you'll love that very last frat party (ow whatever) all the same.
  2. The Band, with my Dad at WYSP's Be-In, Cooper River- NJ. Probably 1989ish, I was 11 or so.
  3. What about Religion? You wandered into this thread, you have to have an opinion
  4. My beliefs are similar to yours. I think it's important to remember that not much effort has been made to prove any type of spiritual existence, at least not by reputable scientific research institutes. I understand why; and I too would much rather see money go to curing horrible diseases, not proving that humans have souls which may or may not continue to exist beyond our death. All I'm saying is I think there's a big hole in the argument that it's never been proven to exist or not.
  5. PJ gave me my first packing lesson. I'll never forget his animated descriptions and warnings of how certain mistakes would leave you "screaming like a school girl". The position he got into when he said it always made me laugh. I didn't know him well, he seemed happy and goofy but very hard working and safety oriented all at once. My thoughts and prayers are with all who love him. Melissa
  6. "I was born at night, but not last night" I always hated that. Then I was dating a guy who said the same thing to me, and I almost passed out
  7. Stromboli-pepperoni, hot sausage spinach or brocoli, all good, and serves a bunch. Spinach dip in a big hollowed-out rye bread thing, crab dip-any dip...let's see....Nachos with homemade guacamole can be trasformed to tacos, etc., so that's easy and fun..chicken or pork pot stickers are great can be gotten to-go. Cold pumpkin ravioili is great. It depends on the crowd too. Mix it up for everyone
  8. Try Stoli Oranj (or however it's spelled) with club and a big orange wedge. Yum
  9. Yes, it means a safe place or shelter. I suspect the word you were looking for is "having." Blues, Dave Wow, can't believe I missed that one
  10. It's funny you say that. The only time I don't like mine is when I look at it and am reminded of the ex-boyfriend who designed it. You have a good point though
  11. Maybe it's just semantics, but I would have associated getting one covered up (or removed) as having regretted it. But, I can also understand the point of view that no longer liking one doesn't equate to regretting haven gotten it (is haven a word ?) I'm surprised so many people who voted are still happy to have them, I apparantly had some misconceptions.
  12. Just curious b/c of the other poll. As my friends and I approach our 30's, it's interesting to see how many people still like them, and how many wish they had "listened to their Mother". Any other comments welcome
  13. It might be interesting to do a poll for those who have them, who regrets it now? I've got one (lower back, about 10 years old) and still like it, but probably would regret it if it was more visible.
  14. I would never have a pit bull with another pet. I watched my ex's pit kill a cat (while he hit it with a chain trying to make it stop-dog didn't feel it), and have friends who's weirheimer (spelling?) was mauled by a neighbor's pit that escaped the yard. I have never seen a well-trained pit be agressive toward a human. I think they're much more dangerous to your other pets than to your children. On the other hand, my dog is a dalmatian mix (I think he's got pointer in him too) -and can't let him near children. He's never attacked/bit anyone, and is the most affectionate dog in the world to adults, but growls and seems to be very scared of my little cousins. I got him from a pound when he was one, so I assume a blond child antagonized him in some way, b/c he has no problem with the non-blond children in our family. Better safe then sorry, he's not invited to family functions where kids will be present.
  15. I'm trying to learn all I can about it, but I love red wine...mostly chianti and pinot noirs (Ruffino has a great one). I don't know if there's anything like it near you, but this place is great: http://www.wineaccess.com/splash/moorebros/new_splash.html They only have French and Italian wines and champagne (none of which you'll find in a common liquor stores), but a sales rep walks you around the store helping you plan meals, etc and suggesting wines based on your tastes...Their wine is not much more than you'd pay anywhere else, with bottles starting at $10. The great part of it is that there wine does not have some kind of additive that most imported wines do and you can taste the difference. If I knew more about wine, I could probably tell you what that additive is, but I have no idea...anyway, they're amazing, you should see if you can order online, or if there's something similar in your area

  17. I recently had dinner with my Mother and some of her friends...there was a couple there who I hadn't seen in years and the husband was making me uncomfortable, even though I couldn't pin-point why. I mentioned this later to my Mother, and she told me that I hadn't seem him for years b/c when I was 15 or 16 at a party my parents were throwing, I told her that he grabbed my leg and and made a very inappropriate comment to me, and that I had told him to f**k off and threw a drink at him (soda-I hadn't had any alcohol). They stopped having him over after that. After her telling me that, I vaguely remember something happening at a party-I can remember what part of the house I was standing in when I told her, and I remember thinking he was gross, but can't remember anything else about it. I don't think I would have ever remembered that if I hadn't seen him again.
  18. Hey I was there a couple weeks ago to see Leon Russell (and some chick upstairs that kept signing the same song-but had a pretty cool voice)- Anyway, Someone should take him up on that, the place is aweome
  19. If you're anywhere near the WWhitman, there's two stations within 2 minutes into Jersey that's still at 1.79ish (it's always cheapest as prices fluctuate). WW Bridge, stay in the far right lane, which becomes an exit only lane at the end of the bridge. Follow signs for Audubon. Within 1/2 mile, you'll be dumped onto Black Horse Pike (Rt. 168)-...You will see a little gas staion on the right at the first intersection-they're dead cheap, but the gas makes my car run funny. Hess Gas Station is on the left at the 4th traffic light (Kings Hwy and Blk Hrs Pike), and my car does fine with it... PM if that doesn't make sense
  20. Portishead definitly. I like the whole "dummy" cd (except that song that was on the radio for awhile-sour times)... Gets me all worked up
  21. Relaxing my body one area at a time was always a huge help for me. In the plane, quiet calm breathing and relaxing my ankles, then making sure my knees/legs are relaxed, then hips, then shoulders, etc. Focusing on those things, kept my body relaxed and my mind focused on things other than fear...by the time everyone gets up for gear checks, etc., fear has been almost replaced by nervous anticipation and that's always a fun feeling for me...
  22. Do you think the standard changes when the other party is not married, but living together with someone? Just curious. For the record, my answer was no, I wouldn't.
  23. On my first tadem, I thought I couldn't breathe in freefall at first. I remember thinking to myself, They said it's 60 seconds in freefall, so, even if I can't breathe thru the whole thing, I'll be fine, now enjoy yourself... I forgot all about it, and it was never a problem again.
