  1. At my DZ (Skydive Chicago), I had to fill out that sheet in my class and go over where everything was. (We did actually draw on the picture, too.) Then before we jumped the winds had changed so we went over it again with a big picture in the training room. I am really glad we did, too, cause my radio didn't work so I had to fly myself home! 2. Right! Definitely NOT in the corn! Did you ever end up there? I'm going back on Saturday, U gonna be there?? "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  3. Hey, welcome to the club! I landed in the corn on my 1st jump! But I wasn't directed there, my radio was broken so I didn't get any instructions. (So I can only blame myself.
  4. Hello, While I am no doctor, I had the EXACT same symptoms after my first solo jump. I believe it is from the physical exertion of throwing your body into an arch. I was fine after my tandem, but maybe you arched more than I did. After about 3 days the soreness went away and I could move my neck just fine. I would highly recommend stretching before you jump, especially if you don't regularly work out. Just my two cents... Jeth "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! 5. Congrats! if you think being under canopy is the best feeling, just wait till you freefall! Also I would guess that throwing your own pilot chute will be more rewarding than S/L. Welcome to the club!
  6. I'm only speaking from my meager experience -- I had a couple painful leg straps on my first jump. The next time I tightened the straps really well and made sure they were high up on my thighs, like in the crease. And then that time, no pain. I think when I had them lower they shifted a bit in freefall and then sort of dragged, and really dug in when my chute opened. Just my two cents... Jeth "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." 7. Yes, I worry! I have only had 3 jumps, and on my first solo my biggest fear was if I could handle a mal. That is still going thru my head now -- will I know if the problem is fixable or if I should cut? Will I find the handles? I hope that I won't have a cutaway so early in my jumping career. I hope it will be later when I have more overall confidence in my jumping. But if it does happen on my next jump, I think I will be able to handle it. I know what to do. And I just pray that reserve opens perfectly when I do need it. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  8. Right!! Actually, that was the best thing about it -- I knew exactly when to flare!
  9. I don't have an issue asking about a reserve price. If they want to know it, that's fine. They probably just don't want to bother upping their bid a million times if my item is out of their price range. I ask people all the time. (For that exact reason) Your item could still go higher than that. You have a million people checking it out who don't know the reserve price, or what the other people's limit is. Thats the beauty of Ebay!!
  10. Man, I can hardly stand it! Tomorrow morning, FINALLY, I am going to AFP!!! After 6 hours of instruction I get to fly my own canopy!! And to freefall without a TM on my back. Woo-hoo!!!
  11. So sorry to hear about your loss. **BIG HUG** I had to put my pooch down last summer. She was 13 and had been living with congestive heart failure for over a year. I really thought I was prepared, but when the time came, it was so unbelievably hard. She had fought so long, but this time there was just too much fluid in her lungs, she could hardly breathe. She was exhausted just by walking across the room. She couldn't even lay down because that pushed on her lungs. She was fighting for every ounce of air. It was time to say goodbye. Oh, my sweet Mitzi. My little mini doxie. We had 8 wonderful years. What a cuddle bug you were. I will remember you always. It is so hard to outlive your best friend. But we will always cherish the memories of all those good times. All that unconditional love. Sox is at peace now. The hurt will eventually go away, and you'll always cherish the memories. 12. Ok, here is mine, just 7 weeks ago. I wasn't expecting to be, but I was immediately hooked. It was a thrilling and profound experience for me that I couldn't get out of my head. (But the 2nd one was even better.... and the 3rd one will be the best yet, cause I'll be doing it myself!!
  13. Wecome and congrats on your 1st jump!!
  14. Welcome! The main thing with your first jump is try to RELAX. Your instructor will do all the hard stuff. Just try to arch your back and keep your arms and legs from dropping down. You will probably be in sensory overload and won't remember most of it after you land. But you will feel like a million bucks!
  15. Wow, so my DZ that charges $30 a jump is REALLY expensive then! The total cost per jump is $50 bucks, that sucks! Man, I would love it if it was $10 like for some of you. My gear is included while I'm in AFP, but then afterwards I'm gonna need about $150-$250 a day to get in just a few jumps. Ouch! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! 16. 700cc 3 cylinder engine. But you can change the outside trim like a mobile phone cover. It's just moulded plastic and pops off easily. Today I drive a white car, tomorrow blue, then who knows ... Cool! Ya, I would love one of these cars. I think they're actually making a model that will be allowed in the US now. I think in 2006. But it's going to be a different model, I think 4 doors. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  17. Ya, thats what I had been thinking on my tandems -- that maybe 1 hook would come undone, but I'd still be connected enough not to fall. But I never really had a fear about it. I actually didn't really have any gear fears relating to my tandems. I had total faith in my TM that he had checked the gear and it would work properly. (And it did.
  18. Cool road trip pics!

    How do u fight this

Wow, I'm so glad it's not just me! I thought it was something I was feeling just because I'm a newbie, but it sounds like it might be with me for awhile. (Not sure if that's good or bad...) I know what you mean about selling the condo. I just bought a really expensive condo a few months ago. I wanted this place so bad I was dreaming about it every minute. Now I am sitting here thinking if I didn't have this place how much more money I would have for jumping -- crazy!! But I don't want to neglect my husband too much. So far he has been very supportive and I want to keep it that way. So I know that means I will have to skip a weekend here and there to be with him. (I doubt he'd want to hang out at the DZ all weekend while I jump... although that would be so great!) I guess we all make it work as best we can with our situation. When I first discovered skydiving I was sure that all these people I was meeting were full-time jumpers who lived at the DZ. But I'm happy to know that there are many other jumpers who struggle with the time, money, other commitments just like me.
  20. Ya, that could be bad.... we want you blowin' that horn!
