    RSL

OK Alan, now you have me confused. I am too new to this sport to be doing anything other than ask sensible (hopefully) questions. That part you attributed to me "3) Worst case scenario..." was definitely not me either. I appreciate the input from everybody on this thread. I am off student status, but have chosen to have an RSL fitted after considering all the advice given here. /s
  3. Hi guys Could you please give me an indication of how much a decent RW jumpsuit is going to cost me? I am talking about an off the shelf suit, not custom tailored, but made of a good durable fabric. I am on 21 jumps, so I am not looking for anything fancy, but something that will last. If you could give me some ball-park figures (and manufacturers' URLs) it would be much appreciated. skreamer
  4. Right : Firstly, Sangiro - I might be a Plastic Pom after living in London for 5 years, but how does it feel to be an authentic African American in the states? Secondly, Skyhawk - the ACT Brumbies might be the finest team in the Super 12 (IMHO), but were you following the international tests the end of last year? As for the cricket, we have a youngster called Mfuneko Ngam who is going to be scaring the living shit out of your batsmen very soon. Thirdly, memo to self : in future check user's profile before launching into xenophobic diatribe. /s
  5. Plus I drove out to Skydance today to go fondle my *new* rig - there is this little thing in a car called the indicator. Why the hell don't you americans use it when you want to change lanes??? There I was driving a left-hand drive automatic on the WRONG side of the road (and no, these are NOT 3 valid reasons for me to buy beer!) and all these yanks in their fuckoff huge tanks kept swooping on me... Between snowboarding and driving on your roads, I no longer think skydiving is that risky. /s PS Sangiro downgrade that 'Marius Moan-gat's' ass, I was LOL when I saw him bitching with 'enthusiast' already under his name. Classic case of small alias envy...
  6. please help me... it's very dark and i am sooo scared... you won't believe the things she is doing to me... *shoosh*, here she comes... 'No mistress Freaksis, I wasn't talking to anybody mistress Freaksis' /s
  7. Hi guys A little off the topic, but still relevant, you might want to read Tom Read's book called Freefall. I bought it on Amazon. Briefly he is an ex Red Devil (British paratroopers skydiving display team) and also served in the SAS. He was going to make an attempt on Kittinger's record, but then suffered a psychological breakdown. This book is really interesting, it gives you an interesting look at skydiving and halo jumping and the story of his breakdown and subsequent recovery is enthralling. You also read about one of Kittinger's contemporaries who died in an attempt on the record. Buy it, read it, you won't be sorry. /s
  8. Hey Sis Could you please loosen this leash, I don't think I can keep this *up* for much longer...
  9. lmfao And to think they call us South Africans arrogant... /s

    Can't Decide

Hi there From your post it is obvious that you don't mind a bit of travel to do your AFF course. Have you considered doing it in South Africa? Not only will your flight be cheaper than to Australia, but the AFF package will be cheaper too. I just did my AFF course there over new year's. It included all 8 AFF jumps plus 2 consolidation jumps. How much? 520 Pounds all inclusive. You will have to do the static line course as well (only about 50 pounds). This would mean 11 jumps total. I did my course at Citrusdal. It is only 1 hours drive from Cape Town. BTW it is a club, totally non-profit making (trust me on that one), so prices are kept low. The DZ is in the middle of an orange farm and you can walk down to a river and go for a dip if you want to cool down between jumps. My two instructors were excellent, and the social side, well...
  11. Hi y'all Having a great time in LaLa-land. Oh yes, this post - how many skydiving T-shirts do you own? Also, which one is your favourite and why? /s PS Sis, I brought my own leash, WHERE ARE YOU???
  12. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! BETTY BOO I LOVE YOU!!! SCOOBY DOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU? OOOOH SAY CAN YOU SEE.... Woo-hoo. free drinks for 12 hours, with waiter service (and you don't even have to tip them). Stumbled off the plane (didn't need the wheel-chair this time) and spoke drunk to the nice 'ossifer' at customs. The rubber glove part was OK (he had warm hands). Now where is the nearest bar... /s ps they really do put prozac in the water out here!
  13. OK guys here it is - see how many times you can get skreamer to score in 60 seconds! Then please post your record. http://www.walls.cwc.net/skreamer.exe It is a Flash game (but don't blame me if it molests and pillages your hard drive) /s PS it's 410KB Edited by skreamer on 3/1/01 04:02 PM.
  14. Hey Aggie, I think you and cyberskydive should be given the honorary title 'skygeek'!
  15. If my *diatribes* and 'politically correct bullshit' bother you so much, then why not just ignore this thread and stop posting to it? I limit my anti-smoking rhetoric to this thread, this happens to be something I feel very strongly about (and with good reason too). /s
  16. Hey, I thought this was like a sarcastic joke poll, so I am the one who voted for keeeaaaanoooo. May I please have my vote back? /s PS anyway Judd Nelson would have got my vote for Fandango (forgot about that one didncha?) - it was a lot more realistic than any of those other movies! lmao
  17. Pammi From reading Merrick's posts, somehow I don't think you are going to be getting *old* at any stage in the next 50 years or so... Apart from the shared passion (no, FFF, I meant skydiving) you guys come across as a very secure relaxed couple, I think quite a few of us envy the two of you. And if Merrick ever gives you any crap, you can simply remind him that only 1 out of every 5 skydivers is a woman - and you are therefore a priceless and highly sought after commodity. /s
  18. yo Sis Add in Faithless and Danny Tenaglia and we could be on the same wave-length -
  19. It seems that with the advanced GPS systems pilots are using these days, spotting doesn't really seem that necessary. If the winds do change while riding to altitude, surely the pilot will be the first to know and adjust accordingly. How important and relevant is spotting as a skill in skydiving today? Looking forward to your feedback. /s
  20. Frank is right The tobacco companies are still actively try to encourage youngsters to smoke. They know most people who don't smoke by their mid-twenties are unlikely to start. Why do you really think Camel sponsors the Camel trophy or Marlboro the Ferrarri F1 team? It is really ironic that in South Africa the biggest private medical company is owned by a tobacco company - they'll make money off you while you're smoking and then some more while you're dying. The bitter-sweet irony! I never started this thread to *bash* anybody, but if this thread makes youngsters like skyhawk and Omri think twice about how *cool* smoking is, then that is good. I got to spend time in cancer wards as a kid (as a visitor not a patient), maybe if some of you smokers had seen people with tracheas lighting up, you would have thought better of starting. As for this 'we've got an addiction and you just wouldn't understand' attitude, that's just crap. I had been taking Ecstacy regularly for quite a long time - I stopped last year August (using bungi jumping and skydiving as incentives). I 'lost' my whole social life, didn't fit in at the raves and clubs anymore and found that my old *friends* and I didn't have much in common anymore. Now I find I don't even enjoy going to *normal* clubs anymore and watching drunk idiots get agressive and make fools of themselves. Or maybe it's just that I'm getting older... I am really glad I started this thread, remember this conference is 'whether skydiving related or not' so let's try and keep this discussion rational and objective (no matter how pro or anti you are). I would hate for this thread to be locked down. /s

You must live for the nudie jumps... /s
  22. Well, oonri, her husband is Merrick, so I am sure they are 'merried'.
  23. Hey Pammi - you're a babe! (but please don't tell Merrick I said that, it'll be *our* little secret...) /s
