  1. i'm gonna give the address to get it all to me to bodypilot90. drop him a pm if you guys have any questions History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  2. QuoteThe only civilians getting into the Bragg tunnel are the GS employees that work at the HALO committee, the two GS employees that run the thing, and the occasional civilian VIP that USAJFKSWC cares to allow a demo. *** Very true when i went through the course they took time out of the students training time to let the son of some senator fly in there. i'm going to keep my opinion on this issue to myself, seeing as how i'm sure a few people that know me and work in high places are on this site, but i'm sure you can all guess what it is!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  3. the only videos i've seen of airspeed in the tunnel are the ones on the tunnel camp website. they've really got some good angels to see how they execute some of the movements though. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  4. just so you know, you guys all rock for helping me out!!! i'll be sure to post some kick ass pics of me doing creeper training in a combat zone if this works out!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  5. No one said that. In fact, it doesn't even make sense. these two people did the same thing, they visited the troops, but according to the original post only one of them was doing it for a good reason, The other one did it to further his career. I would think that whether or not his visit makes a soldier feel better depends upon what that soldier believes Rumsfeld's motives are. At anyrate, don't confuse the animosity some of us have for certain politicians with how we feel about the soldiers!*** I don't feel that this was an attack against the soldiers, I must have worded what i said wrong. Rumsfeldis the SECDEF and really has no need to further his career, he is just showing that he cares about the troops that are affected by the decisions he makes. 6. Yes you could ship it to the APO but I could give you guys an address stateside you could send it to so you guys wouldn't have to pay overseas shipping, and then from there i could pay for the shipping to get it to iraq. Hopefully it can make it through the mail in one piece!!! i do have a dvd PLAYER that i brought over here with me from the states too. Do you know a place that carries all the airspeed videos on DVD? 7. not in iraq. but stateside it depends on your housing status, normally if you live in the barracks you have a meal card and can eat at any chow hall without paying. if you have your own place you get an allowance for food, and would have to pay if you went to the chow hall. the allowance is exactly the same as you would pay for three meals a day in the chow hall every day. but unfortunately this amount is much less than you pay on the local economy for meals, so if you eat out a lot you end up paying out of pocket. 8. Just got off the phone with an enlisted man in Korea. He said that Rumsfeld has become very unpopular with the troops there. *** Please don't take this as an insult to the person you spoke with, or me referring to him as a liar. But there are a lot of troops over, in a lot of different places, there is no way he could know how they feel. He is most likely referring to the group of people he associates himself with. Just an observation, not tryin to pick a fight or knock anyone. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  9. so if a celebrity cares about our troops it a nice gesture, but if a politician cares about our troops they are only doing it to further their career. Has everyone become so incredibly desperate to bash the Bush cabinet that they are going to find a way to twist everything someone that works for him does into some evil plot. Making a nice gesture to those of us spending our christmas getting rained on in a combat zone(believe me i know its raining in iraq cause i'm soaking wet right now!!) is a great thing. And even if you are right(which I seriously think your not)and he was just doing it for PR, I'm sure it made those soldiers he visited feel a little better for the holidays, so who cares. 10. Hey guys, your efforts are truly appreciated. All my freetime out here is spent watchin RW vids, and the last time I was here I actually found that I learned a lot through that, so this time I'm going to try throwing a creeper in with it to sort of imitate the manuvers and see how well it works to keep my flyin from getting rusty. If this gets goin I'll give you guys a place stateside where you could send it and it could be shipped overseas at my expense. and I still plan on keeping good on my promise to visit everyone involved with the effort. Take care and Merry Christmas. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  11. Come on there has to be someone out there with a creeper they can spare!!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  12. I get to wake up to the sounds of carolers, oh wait those aren't christmas carols, it's prayer music. Oh well at least i get to hear the reindeer on the roof. No wait wait, my bad!! that was the third mortar attack today. Silly me i almost thought i was going to have a christmas for a second. Everyone say yay Iraq!!! Hope everyone has a merry christmas.... 13. you could just tell your partner you lost it, i promise i wouldn't tell anyone, it'll be our little secret History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  14. I totally agree with you on this one girl, the tunnel is great, I love flyin in it, but there is no substitute for the real thing. But living in colorado a tunnel nearby would be nice during the winter!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  15. OK here's the deal, i'm spending christmas in Iraq and i only have one wish for christmas. i want a creeper, thats right a creeper. i could keep myself entertained for hours and train while i'm here. so who's gonna show their christmas spirit and mail one to me?? if anyone does this for me i promise to make a trip out to jump with you when i get back, and jumps are on me for the day. Oh and don't forget tiny Tim he hooked it low the other day and is walkin on crutches now. blues, and happy holidays Dan History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 16. one thing that i found to help me greatly during my last off season was watching videos, i spent endless hours watching videos of airspeed in the tunnel, studying how they did their techniques and visualizing doing them myself. when i started jumping again last summer, after knocking off the rust all that visualization i did seemed to help. the techniques felt like they were already there. Has anyone ever used anything like this to help them continue to learn in the off-season. and if so has anyone ever tried this same thing while on a creeper. watch some vids and visualize doin the techniques while on a creeper. and on that note...i'm not taking the season off by choice, i'm on my second trip to the middle east and all my downtime is spent online watchin skydiving vids and reading this forum. i was wondering if there is anyone out there who has a soft spot for soldiers that would be willing to mail me a creeper(seriously). this sport keeps me going and anything i can do to train while i'm over here would make the time go a lot faster. PM me if you wanna hook me up. blues ps you could make it my christmas present!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  17. Not everyone is offended or PC. The execs of my company are Jewish and have been wishing everyone that comes in the office a Merry Christmas even thou most of the people in this neighborhood are Jewish! _________________________________________ *** i must've worded what i said wrong, i know not all non christians are like that, just the ones like the parents that get the decorations banned from schools while they say its ok to put up a decoration from their beliefs. i'm no knockin everyone non christian, i'm not a christian either History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 18. QuoteLooks like Mosul is the new Fallujah. Looks like the US did not make the smartest decision to let Kurdish militias take the place of Iraqi police after many refused to go back to work. *** The Peshmerga(Kurdish militia as you called them) are some of the most dedicated fighters you'll ever find. And they would gladly die to help the americans, using them is never a mistake. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  19. If christmas offends everyone so much than we should get rid of christmas vacations. i guarantee all the people complaining about christmas would stop whining if we threatened to take away they're time off during the holidaysbecause it was for a religoius reason. congrats to that woman for having the guts to do what makes her happy and not worry about what other people want! 20. everything that isn't the majority is ok. but those who have the majority have no voice and can't present themselves in any way, that would be unfair to the minorities!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  21. I hear great things about Aerodyne's pilot, too, which is in the same class. *** Definitely try out the pilot if your looking for that range of canopy. I have one and love it, incredibly predictable and forgiving but at the same time when you get agressive with it, it has the balls to run with you. I fly mine at about a 1.1 wl and its great. 22. It doesn't have any of the 39 videos but out of the blue has some shots with the 46. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  23. I'm far from being the most knowledgable person in the world when it comes to swooping so take what i say with a grain of salt. But people with far more experience than myself have said that the PD team started using special line sets when they saw that the xaos guys could do ghostriders. they tried that with their canopies the way they were and didn't have such great results, so a new custom line set was used to allow thier canopies this ability. Again this is info being passed on from other sources, which i have seen to be credible in the past. and i'm sure there is someone out there with more direct knowledge that could shed more light on the subject. 24. Maybe it will get people to start trying to make a difference in what goes on in their neighborhoods rather than turning a blind eye. Don't think I'm saying what the city did was right or wrong, i have mixed emotions on that one, but in a lot of situations like this people accept what goes on in these areas like its part of everyday life. Not doing anything about the problem is just as bad as actively supporting it. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  25. QuoteI honestly have a hard time believing that some of them were able to pass high school. I've talked to some of the guys as they were waiting on the bus to take them to the airport or waiting on their physical. I've honestly had better conversation with a brick wall then some of them.*** Please don't take this as me reading what you said as a direct insult to all military recruits, i know that wasn't your intention and i'm not trying to put words in the mouth of you and zen. I agree with what you are saying for the most part. But some of those kids that never made it through high school, or don't seem like the brightest ones of the group make some damn fine soldiers. These are the kids that grew up playin outdoors running around, roughing each other up, and things of that nature, so when it comes to the things that cause most people to want to quit, its nothing to these guys. I worked with a pair of twins that were in my platoon when I was in Ranger Battalion, everybody swore they didn't have half a brain between the two of them. But those guys would and could do anything that was asked of them. 9 steely eyed killers like that would make one hell of a squad. Those steely eyes might be a little crosseyed, but hey, no ones perfect, right!! And with the right guidance and development kids like that turn into some outstanding NCO's.
