  1. As I said earlier. You cant know what its like until you've been there in that situation. So dont diss those who allow the majority to sleep soundly at night. Good point, seems everyone thats never been put in that situation has this insatiable need to judge, and say how what these people are doing wrong when they themselves have no clue what emotions are going through a man in combat. How's this everyone in this forum who has judged this brave marine raise your hand if you've had an iraqi try and kill you. My hand is raised, anyone else, I had no clue how i'd react when put in a situatoin like that til i was staring down a barrel. Now everyone with your hands down stop passing judgement on a man who serves a noble purpose in life. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  2. I think that pretty much shows that U.S marine cowardice and that he is guilty of murder. Now the U.S military has a very good chance to get some distance from this incident by discharging that bastard from the army with dishonor and give him beetwen 20 years and lifetime of jail. Somehow i have the feeling he will get just a slap in the hand as usual. How dare you accuse a Marine of being a coward, while you sit happily on your @ss at home in front of a computer probably making a decent living, and neglecting your freedoms, there are men and women out there in a foreign country giving their lives so you can have the life you live. there was absolutely nothing wrong with what that marine did, he broke no laws, according to the geneva convention you are allowed to shoot people as you clear an objective even if they are no longer in the fight, so long as they are not surrendering and you have not passed them yet. Make me explain that a little better for you. I shoot a buch of insurgents in the street, they go down, my team and i pick up and move to clear the ground they were holding, as i'm clearing that ground i can put another round in the insurgents to ensure they are dead, and can't shoot us in the back, as long as they are not surrendering. once i step past them they are no longer combatants and i can't kill them unless they manage to present an immedeate threat(ie picks up a weapon and fires again). those marines hadn't cleared that objoctive yet, they had been taking fire from that building and those insurgents were probably injured in that fire, therefore they were still targets. God help the man that disrespects one of our countries heroes the way you did while they are in arms reach of me. Because just as I've personally fought to protect that freedom of speech I wouldn't hesitate for a second to take it away, in my own manner. 3. I guess you are comfortable with the US armed forces being the police force for th world. I am not. Iraq was not a danger to freedom of speech in the US. So, I still don't understand how those forces are protecting freedom of speech in the US, it was never in danger from Iraq. We aren't in Iraq to protect freedom of speech here in the US, we are prtecting the freedom of speech for people who can't protect it themselves. We are there to help someone other than us. Did you just ignore everything i said? We don't go to war for our own personal gain, the US has always gone to war to better the life of someone else. Are you so selfish that you feel its only OK to go to war if it is to benifit us. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  4. Really, so tell me, how do the troops dying in Iraq protect freedom of speach? Troops are dying in Iraq to give people the same freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted here. Soldiers in the United States Armed Forces have never been used for our own personal gain, we have always gone to war to help others, and give them a better way of life. Under SH people in iraq didn't have freedom of speech, now they do, they have the ability to live life the way they want. And that mother refusing to allow MM to speak on her behalf...MM is using this war for his own personal gain. He is minimizing the sacrifice of the soldiers who have given their lives to protect the freedom of people who could care less whether or not they live or die. And listening to some of the posts in this forum it seems as though he is not the only one who doesn't appreciate the sacrifice made by those. I'm biting my tongue on a lot of the things i want to say right now, so i'm just gonna say this and go cool off, there are men and women out there right now who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice so others may have a good life, and saying anything to disrespect the sacrifices made by those heroes, is absolutely disgraceful. 5. Well since were talking about conspiracy theories here's a crazy one. There's this super secretive group, for purposes of their own protection we'll refer to them as, the American public, or better yet, registered voters. over the course of the last few months this group of people decided who they were going to vote for, through a secretive ritual known only by a few. This ritual has a very deceptive name, that is hard to translate. It's called paying attention to current events and watching the debate. Does anyone see where i'm going with this? Cause if you don't I could keep going. It sounds incredibly ridiculous and pathetic that rather than admit that more people voted for Bush than Kerry people have to make up theories about how Bush stole the election. Kerry was man enough to stand up in front the entire country and graciously accept defeat. And although I don't care for him I respect and applaud him for having the courage to do so. And after accepting defeat Kerry and Bush both said something along the lines of how we need to unite the country and use all of our powers to find ways to sove the countries problems. We need to use our opposing opinions and beliefs to find the medium with the best results for everyone, rather than imedeatly take a stance as far off of what the other side proposes simply because we want to spite the other side. 6. when i was first learning i missed the throw out a couple of times when i was doing practice pulls(i went through the AFF program), the trick i was tought to help find it was to put my hand on my butt and follow it stright up to the hackey. practice on the creeper see how it works for you. and make sure you talk to your instructor and ask if he/she has any tips or tricks that might work for you. good luck History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  7. Is it so hard to believe that more didn't vote for a man who never once clearly stated his solution to any prblems. John Kerry never said how he would fix any of our countries problems all he did was say we had all these problems, and he had something up his sleeves to magically make them all better. That didn't isnpire a whole lot of confidence in people. Bush won because he always clearly states his intentions and doesn't hide anything. Deal with it. 8. Sure is. Poppy production is up above pre-US invasion levels. Heroin on the streets of the Europe is also up. Since when did Afghanistan become a drug operation, something like that falls in the hands of afghani officials not our soldiers who spend their days fighting. 9. You have a good point in saying that the war has increased the terrorist attacks, but its the only way to stop terrorism. We could either jump in the middle of it all and start laying waste or we could tread lightly and arrest a few guys hear and there. These terrorists may be attacking us on a regular basis, but they are being killed on a regular basis as well. Also before the war, the terrorist attacks were usually aimed at innocent civilians or government official, with the exception of a few such as the barracks in beirut or the USS Cole, but even in those it was against soldiers who didn't have the tools to defend themselves on-hand. In iraq at least the playing field has been leveled a little bit more because they are attacking soldiers that are ready to fight back at any time. 10. Quotedepends on what you call HALO... there was a thread around sometime ago and apparently 12k ft is already high for military... one thing about the army is they over safety everything. at that altitude if the jumpers are in the bird for more than 30 minutes O2 is required, i think any higher than 17k and its required immedeatly, i can't remember what the FAA regs are for civilians but military is usually a little more strict when it comes to stuff like that History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 12. i don't know if they'd let a civilian do it but certain spec ops units do them. they use them when they have to jump someone in the doesn't know how to fly but is still mission essential, sometimes they use them to jump large bundles in when there is too much gear for each individual jumper to fly in History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 13. when i first got it i had quite a few times where it took two tries to get it in the bag, now i can slop pack it and it still goes in just fine, and still opens great. only problem i have is it tends to start a slow right turn after inflation, i'm guessing its my packing but do you know anything i could do to correct this History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 14. And, BTW, you need to grow up and start thinking with more common sense. alright gentlemen next time read my post a little closer before you go off on me. if you look at the post the part where i said i was gonna pack an intentional lineover, there were exclamation marks right after it(they look like this !!!!!! in case you were uncertain) that was my was of saying it in a sarcastic manner. i take very good care of my equipment and would never consider doing something to damage it. further if you look at the part where i said i wanted to do an intentional cutaway look next to it where i said i would talk to my DZO first. i wasn't just going to do this on my own accord, the drop zone owner could take a hit if i got hurt and i would never do anything to hurt my home dz. thats my family and they take very good care of me. at this point in the game i don't do anything without talking to my instructors/local skygods first and geting their opinion and advice first. if you'd read some of my other posts you would see that. i'm sure that if i had brought it up to him he would've pointed me in the direction fo the manufacturer to ask for a demo. until i read the reply that was posted about asking for a demo as a main i was unaware that you could do that, and i do thank you for letting me know. don't be so eager to puff your chest up and rip into someone because you have more jumps, that seems to be the trend in the forums where jump numbers make you the big man and you can get away with talkin trash because your looking at a computer screen and are out of arms reach of the person your talking to. people are always friendly at dz's so why should it be any different here History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  15. started at around 65 jumps on a pilot 210 loaded at 1.1, but trust me i talked to my instructors and local skygods about whether or not i was ready to start and how to go about starting to learn, and i still talk with them anytime i think i'm ready to take it up a step. 16. It was mentionted that they might be waiting til after the election. This is a very good point, it could be said(and remember that i am a registered republican as i say this) that the terrorists don't want Bush to win. Bush is far more agressive than Kerry when it comes to pursuing our enemies. And if anyone remembers the approval rating for the president skyrocketed after 9/11. So another attack could very well lock in the election for Bush and ensure the extinction of terrorism. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 17. why is iraq a mess? if you could throw a couple of reasons our way so we could strike up a convo. thanx and by the way if you haven't guessed i want to hear some reasons so i can give an opinion as to why iraq isn't as bad as people think History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 18. where is everyone getting the idea that we aren't putting the effort in finding bin laden that we are putting into iraq. where is this info coming from, iraq did not take anything away from afghanistan, no soldiers were taken from afghanistan to be used in iraq. iraq requires a greater number of soldiers because of the type of mission that it is, afghanistan is receiving all the attention and support that it needs. and the comments about how we are trying harder in iraq, that has nothing to do with the amount of support, iraq is a different culture the peopl there have a different mindset, and were more willing to help. and further bin laden has been living in caves and making himself scarce for years, remember he had to do the same thing for so many years while russia was at war with afghanistan. in iraq suddam and his sone were so used to ahving freedom of movement and living in a permissive environment that when the tables turned and they had to go into hiding they weren't well enough prepared. just because the media reports more on iraq than afghanistan doesn't mean that there isn't still soething going on there, that is the only thing i can think of that would be giving people these ideas. 19. I myself own a pilot 210 loaded at 1:1.1 which i purcahsed brand new. I'll let you know that after about 30 pack jobs or so it will get a lot easier to pack. Mine mostly because my dz is very dusty and the dust on the canopy gives the material a little bit of grip, no joke. but here is the packing technique that i was taught to get it into the bag and i've been using it ever since. The trick with new ZP is maintaining control of the material at all times with constant pressure. when you set the canopy on the ground and are getting ready to roll it put your knees on the bottom of it, the part that would normally go on the inside in the first fold where the data card is. once you get a decent amount of air out of the canopy i hold the tail where its rolled together at the back to keep the material tight then bring it straight up. forming an L with the canopy with the bottom of the L being under my knees. then starting at the top i roll the canopy down into itself away from me then just fold the roll over on the bottom of the canopy where my knees are. from there until i get it into the bag i use my chest to hold down the canopy. this technique has gotten me through about 50 packjobs fairly painlessly. i hop it wasn't too confusing i tried to explain it as best as possible. if your still having trouble drop me an email and i'll see if i can't send you some pics of me using this technique. good luck and enjoy the pilot, it rox!!! 21. QuoteWhat would you consider to be the best sniper rifle? Other than the Barret 50 cal obviously. The Barret is an excellent sniper system but is not made for anti-personnel. Not to say it doesn't do a great job at that but it is meant to disable heavy vehicles. My personal fav is the M24, it is an excellent all around sniper weapon, that is very reliable and so well built that it will still fire accurately far beyond what the manufacturer says it can handle. 22. Wow I don't even know where to start after reading some of the posts in this forum, but just to make my position clear before i get into it, a good number of you people who posted here make me sick and don't deserve to call yourself American's. I'm trying to figure out where you get your information from, people coming up with these theories about how we know where bin laden is but don't want to capture him because he is not important, or for some political reason. You really need to stop listening to cnn and hillary clinton. If you know anything about the culture in countries like afghanistan you'd know that the country is built on a tribal system. and these tribes are very close knit and will not turn on one of their own, not even for $25 mil. not only that but these people are afraid of helping us. they are afraid of people finding out that they are helping the US because it could get them killed. I have seen the bodies of people who were found to be helping us in iraq. I guarantee that there is no soldier out there who knows the location of bin laden and isn't going to get him for political reasons. If any soldier out there learned of his whereabouts I don't care how much rank or power you have there is no way in hell you could hold that soldier back from going after the man who murdered 3000 American's. Now other people saying that it is because we got "distracted" with iraq and let him slip through our fingers, yeah i'm sure that all the soldiers in afghanistan are so busy thinking"gee i wonder whats happening in iraq today" that they missed bin laden walking right in front of them. And it isn't because there isn't enough manpower in afghanistan due to the fact that there are so many soldiers in iraq. afghanistan is a perfect special operations mission. a large number of conventional forces in afghanistan would not do any good, it isn't great numbers of soldiers searching large areas that is going to find him it is the special operators who can work on their own set of rules, and think outside the box that are going to find them. we have the perfect amount of soldiers in afghanistan. believe me i have more to say but i know i've already dragged on long enough, i will leave it at this for now. but just to let you know why i feel i know what i'm talking about, i'll let you know a little about me. I'm in the army and part of the special operations community, i won't get specific as to which part of the community. I have personally been involved in fighting the war on terror, and am getting ready to return to the middle east. I have tracked down and captured terrorists and never once was i distracted or stopped from doing my job because of politics or something else in the world. I was completely focused on my mission the whole time i was there. The only time politics even came close to getting in the way was when it changed what we had to know about a person before we could take them out. I can't get too specific on the details of that but believe me politics never had an effect on my ability to do my job to the point where i let terrorists slip through my hands. Have a little faith in that your government is trying to do the right thing. Not only that but don't undermine the Men and Women who volunteer to give their lives and serve a higher purpose in life than those of you who do nothing but sit safely in your homes night watching the news and criticizing the heroes of our nation. You sleep soundly in your beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on your behalf. Fully knowing that none of you could care less whether or not we live or die, or what fate becomes of us, and yet we still fight for your freedom to speek down on us and disrespect us. 23. i own the comp RW suit from bodysportusa, and love it. i've tried jumping without it a few times since i've bought it and went running back. great booties, awesome fit, and they are very helpful when i rough it up a little and want to have a few repairs done. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  24. I havea pilot 210 loaded at 1.1 when i first started flyin it i had to get used to the 6-8 inches of slack i had to take out of the lines to get any responsiveness in the canopy, but now that i've really started learning to fly it that little bit of slack does me good when i'm on front risers. and it keeps me from flaring too much on me swoops and stalling. 25. The biggest difference you would see with the silhouette is that it is a hybrid canopy, so you'd get your first taste of how ZP canopies act. I jump up at 6,000 MSL and i've heard a lot of people up at these higher altitudes like the hybrids. I've personally never jumped one but passing on what i've been told to you i've never met a disatissfied silhouette pilot. Have fun and good luck.
