Ratings and Rigging

  1. I have an XD 45 and it's a great gun but they only have 13 round mags, not 15. Here in NM we can carry openly with no license and no limit on ammo as well as concealed in vehicles. 13 round mags run about $20 - $25 each from what I've seen. Dave
  2. It all depends on what your counter top finish is made of. Stay away from Particle board, or Luan. For any moisture sensitive area's, Exposure 1, C grade, unsanded plywood is best. For tile or stone underlayment use 2 layers of 3/4" ply, staggered joints with cement backer board, H20 proof membrane or Ditra Mat on top. Concrete tops are job specific and require their own set of condiditons. We've installed cabinets and/or a variety of tops in 250-300 kitchens in the last 15 years. Dave

    9mm vs .45

I've put several thousand rounds through my P-89 and never once had a jam and this using all types of ammo and hi-cap magazines. But does anybody know where to find .460XVR ammo? I'm having a tough time trying to find it, even online. Dave

    9mm vs .45

I carry a Ruger P-89 9mm convertible in my truck and have a 1911 .45 at home for defense and fun. But my real home defrense weapon is a 12 gauge Mossberg pump with a pistol grip. The P-89 is one of the most reliable auto's I've ever owned and it's not too pretty so i don't mind so much when it gets dirty and scratched. I recently just picked up a nasty, fire breathing, very accurate S & W 460 XVR revolver. This thing launches a 200 grain bullet at 2400 fps with factory loads in tight groups and can also shoot a 400 grain bullet at 1600 fps. It makes a .44 mag seem like a .22. The only problem is ammo. I can't find 460 ammo anywhere, just .454 Casull and .45 Long Colt which it also shooots but these rounds are tame compared to the 460. Dave

    Gracie-Hughes

Gracie's fights were boring if you're only into boxing or fake wrestling. But if you can appreciate the skill and technique involved, Gracie was definitely not boring to watch. Just think, after 10+ years of being out of the UFC Gracie came back and took on the the most dominant fighter ever in the UFC and he's 7 years older than Hughes. My heart was definitely with Gracie but my money was with Hughes. All MMA fighters owe a great deal to the Gracie family and what they have done for the sport. Dave
  8. Girls School, from the 80's. They definitely weren't pop.
  9. It took me 27 to get my A. Several people at our dz took mujch longer than that, 1 at 77, another at 80 and one at 160 something.
  10. FYI I'm sure he logged that jump, he's mentioned it to me several times. Rudi is still very current and trains students every weekend here in NM. Dave
  11. Bush looked much better this time but he lost his composure too often. Kerry seemed much more sure of himself and at least stayed on track.
  12. I set up one of these to keep my Rottweiler and Golden Retriever out of my garden. After they bumped it a couple of times they wouldn't go near that fence and it's been over a year since it's been up. I touched the fence myself just to make sure they wouldn't get hurt and it just stings a bit, nothing too much.
  13. It's well worth the money in my opinion. I signed up for PPL for my business about 3 months ago and have used them to review a couple of contracts. For what I can tell they offer a lot of service for the $$. Dave
  14. Ski helmets are great for skydiving. I have a Bieffe that I got for about a third of what a skydiving helmet would cost and it has much better protection. I use it year round with no problem and just stuck a piece of velcro inside near the ear hole and anther piece on my protrack to keep it in place. Dave
