  1. I unfortunately do not know anyone on this forum. I wish people would PM me and be my friend. Until then, I love you all!
  2. so Barcelona, like that you'll see the 3 capitals You silly goose! London is not a capital, it's a suburb of France! "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  3. I reckon for few days, one would have an equally great time in Madrid AND Barcelona. In different ways. And in NYC as well. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  4. Damn! Here goes my Florida connection... "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  5. Tahiti and most of French Polynesia tends to be overpriced due to the influx of Japanese newlyweds and US tourists (especially Bora Bora). Staying away from Papeete itself will save you quite a bit of money (South of the island is much cheaper). If you are staying for a few days, there are reasonably cheap locations, where the locals go (as opposed to the tourist places priced accordingly). PM sent with more info... 6. How so? Criterias? "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  7. For avant garde fusion cutting edge Jazz, Kenny G is the man. He makes the common man believe there is a god to be found, should one whine long and obnoxiously enough. For a more conventional approach, I myself like the Oscar Peterson Trio (on the easy side), Charles Mingus (The Clown is a classic), of course the un-avoidable Bird, Coltrane, and Miles collections... 8. I agree with you and I think its great one can get tattoos on ones body without using punctuation because its cool and it rocks and bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat. 9. I'm confused about this statement. Is it about having or not having a stills camera mounted on a helmet plate? The top plate of my camera helmet sticks out a good bit, 10 cm or more. It is attached to the helmet at all times (build-in). I can hang my stills camera from it, upside-down. If I do, the end of the plate/helmet isn't 3mm but is the whole stills camera/lens that would hypothetically hit you in the back/neck. If I don't, I have a sturdy 10cm long 3mm thick metal plate sticking out that would hit you. Get it? Get it, and many thanks to you for the detailed explanation! Now, how about someone just wearing a good old round helmet, with nothing potentially lethal hitting me? For example, no camera plate, no camera, no scud missile launcher, or any other objects which would not be otherwise found on the average joe's brain bucket? 10. How high is the ceiling? also, can the window be moved in relationship to where the TV is? And more importantly, can you control the motion of afore mentioned window with your remote control? If not, why not? If so, where did you buy your remote control? Cash or credit? Which currency, and will you take a check? If not, will you take Skyride coupons?

  12. He's in a cage with nothing better to do What could possibly be better to do? "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  13. In Inner Mongolia, riding horses and sleeping in Yurts...
  14. If you do the proper search, you'll find out what it's all about... "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."

    Babel

I actually felt it was a fairly poor movie. Playing on clichés and easy emotions, with a plot that stretched at times way beyond credibility. The fact that a movie is compared to another one (Crash) is usually not a good sign, as a good movie should stand on its own. And the standards of interwhined story lines belongs to Pulp Fiction IMO...
  16. No doubt it's not easy, but Mandarin is not any harder than any other languages from Western countries. Again, its grammar is very simple. Again, the tricky part is to learn the tones applied to syllables. In this chart you will notice there are many different meaning to the sound "ma". However, there is only one Chinese ideogram per meaning. Hence my suggestion to learn writing and reading Chinese to better one's speaking abilities. Once one gets past the tones issue, it is mostly about learning vocabulary and practicing. Then there is the issue of simplified Chinese characters (used in China) vs old Chinese characters (used in Taiwan and Japan)... Just to keep it real! (PS: the above chart is in old Chinese charcaters...) 17. There's no substitute for a real live teacher. And of course, spending time in the country does help... Good luck. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  18. Learn to speak AND to write/read. One will help the other. With 5 different tones to each syllable (in Mandarin, 9 in Cantonese), all having several totally different meanings, being able to couple a tone to an ideogram gives you the exact meaning. Otherwise, Mandarin is not a very hard language to learn. The grammar, much like Japanese, is extremely easy. Once you get past the tones issue, it's all about vocabulary, which pretty much applies to every language. Besides, you don't have to worry about orthograph... 19. No. The way presidents have used the Presidential Pardon prerogative is a joke, from either side. Get Out Of Jail Free Cards at best... "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  20. At this point, this is a leap. The women have announced they believe it was accidental. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
  21. And he's probably right. Or Putin will put in power someone he can somewhat control. However, we'd be surprised at the percentage of people whom, given the chance, would keep Putin in office. Certainly a majority. He has managed to somehow create a strong nationalist movement, where he is seen as the one standing up to defend Russia's might... 22. Swap the "L" for a "W"? Congrats Colin... "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
