  7. THIS WAS ONE "HOT" EVENT !!! Temps approached 100 each day with temps in the plane rising over 110, but blue skies welcomed us every day. Congrats to all the birds previous and new that made Skyfest a great success. Flyers came from as far as California, with most being from Fla, GA, NC, SC, MD, and VA. Between the various instructors partnering seamlessly together we introduced more than 10 more people to the flock with several now hooked and ready for more. There was a high level of collaboration, partnership, and safety setting a vibe that made the event good for all. Jeff Nebelkopf kicked off the week with doing some first flight courses, group organizing was in full swing by Thursday. First flight courses continued through the event with Tony Uragallo and our fellow PFI Sean "Monkey" Horton taking students up and added them safely to group dives. Saturday focused on proximity flying and skills work with us putting up 13 - 14 ways all day. These were the largest wingsuit formations flown in SC to date (per several people at the event). With 2 CASAs the group got many opportunities to do a variety of new and fun exits. Sunday brought some more technical dives with some vertical formations. Winds and heat fatigue wrapped things up mid-afternoon. Chris, apprciate all the base flying and consistantly getting us back to the DZ. All the flyers made leaps of progress during the entire event. I hope to see all of you at future wingsuit event (Flock n Dock and Puerto Rico ). HUGE thanks to Jay Schrimsher and his entire Skyfest team, one of the very best events we have been to. WHAT A GREAT VIBE !!! Thank you for having us and I hope the wingsuits added a lot to the weekend. Big props to the pilots, manifest, and the airboss. We want to thank the vendors/manufactures that provided demos: Phoenix Fly Tony Suits SFly Hope to see everyone at the next event, check out Flock U's wingsuit weekend June 21 and 22. Blue skies and long flights. Well done all !!!! 8. The video below is focused more on the freedom of flight and why we are drawn to flying. Some REALLY cool paraglide aerobatics. Very nicely done video. I was asked to contribute a small clip of a wingsuit cloud pass about 9 months ago, only a few second slong. The rest is mostly paragliding. Check out the video and leave Ozone some comments. www.flyozone.com/because WSI-5 / PFI-51 / EGI-112 / S-Fly The Brothers Gray Wing Suit Academy Contact us for first flight and basic flocking courses at your DZ or boogie. www.thebrothersgray.com

  12. Negro PLEASE talk about snaking orgainzer slots ---- I wish ya'll luck with those slots - been there been fucked out of them Just to go on record --- we did not pursue any organizer slots for this event. We were asked only to help out. We expected, given the number of listed organizers, that there would be issues around the number of slots and who would be doing what. Given what I have seen on the split of organizer slots at many of the large events, we go to any such event with the expectation of getting no slots, but rather go with the flow to support the growth of the flock. I am happy to take a backseat and enjoy the jumps. Friendships and relationships are far more important to us than a handful of org slots. I will be doing all I can make this a positive event, enjoying the week with good friends, and busting out some killer dives. Rob Jones (Morpheus / Phoenix Fly) FYI - We have a number of organizers for the event. I expect we will be splitting up into groups between first flight courses, basic flocking, and technical/bigways. Jeff will be there during the first part of the week and then head to another event over the weekend. I expect there will be demo suits from a number of vendors to include: TonySuits, SFly, and Phoenix Fly. If there is a specific suit you are looking to demo, post it here or PM me and I will see if I can work it with the respective vendor. 19. We do Tandem swoops from time to time, more so as requested. There are always coordinated. Personal opinion, 50 feet is TOO CLOSE. While the skill level may be there to conplish this, I look at it this way: we never intend to get into a car accident either, but they happen. The closure rate of the wingsuit and the canopy is such that covering 50 feet gives you almost no reaction window. For example if the tandem turns or edges into your flight path. I also feel a responsibility on a number of levels: to the student's safety, that of the instructor, myself, and to the wingsuit community at large. When a wingsuit pilot hits a tandem image the fallout for all wingsuiters. I am not saying don't do tandem swooping, but manage the risk respectfully. 20. Like an F1 car, small but fast. Chris was flying an SFLY Expert and Brian his Raptor. Both had to fly a little steep and dirty with the arms, but legs fully extended to match the forward speed. Looking forward to doing some aerobatics in the coming weeks. 21. Forward speed confirmed !!! We aired out our recent ACCESS purchase this past weekend. We expected due to the low drag profile that the forward speed would be notable. But it surpassed our expectations. VERY FUN TO FLY !!! Looking forward to more ACCESS flights. See attached photos. 22. We have made the decision to RESCHEDULE the wingsuit weekend. There are storms today and Monday, as well as bad weather for Saturday AM and all Sunday. There is always the chance it could improve or get worse, the forecast has been trending towad the negative this week. While we likely could get a couple jumps in Saturday afternoon, it would not provide the continuity needed to really focus on skills development. Historically it takes 2 - 3 jumps for the group to get into a grove in terms of knocking the dust off and adjusting to average fall rate and forward speed. We will look for another date and monitor the weather for some focused training time with 5 - 6 jumps per day. STAY TUNED !!! 23. Both of us were working ... but made it out Sunday. I think Brian got 8 jumps, me 7, and Chris 6. Yeah -- been looking at the weather. If it looks really crapy we may reschedule this. Sounds like everyone is local so no travel / lodging plans would be impacted.
