Sounds like he trusted your decision. Now, when I think of it, I would either exit right after the guy, keeping him in sight or I would make a pretty long delay between our exits. Being an Radio Amateur in 1877 or so, I've experienced similar attitudes among them/us. Though they were bould while installing some antennas at some crazy places.
