  1. Go read what tv shows he posted as recomended watching. He posted on face book. OH MY GOD! NO! You mean a nut job made of list of things people should do? That's CLEARLY a sign of an upcoming civil war. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  2. I was just on FB with a couple of other old time skydiving folk talking about just this. One is convinced this is the start, of course he's also been wanting to start a civil war for years anyway. He honestly sounds like he thinks the "purge" is a good idea. The other is trying to tell me this was an assassination attempt and not a mental health issue. I'm reasonably certain it IS a mental health issue. A wacko with easy assess to guns. Yeah, yeah, this gets back into the very thing you didn't want to talk about, but I don't see any way around it. No. I do not think there is an organized "left" gunning for politicians in an attempt to start a civil war. That's just, in my opinion, stupid. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  3. Bullshit! House of Cards is well written, cohesive, and of known authorship On the list of similarities though, it is an adaptation of stories which came before it. True enough, what intrigues me is the similarity of the character development of the Underwoods to the Clintons. Again, your confirmation bias is showing. Perhaps also a lack of knowledge of Shakespeare because if the show and its origins are based on anything, it's MacBeth. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  5. What really gets to me is the Orwellian nature of the language. How Trump and his group has somehow managed to flip the use of words and phases so to my ears it's a remarkably easy comparison to make, yet to his followers war really is peace, slavery really is freedom, and we have always been at war with Eastasia. People who absolutely worship (or claimed to) Reagan just a few years back, now adore Trump and his ties to Russia. How any one Trump scandal would have easily been the end of any of his opponents, but yet there are dozens and dozens of them he is just conning his way out of. It's as if the entire system has been taken over and about 35% of the country is okay with it. In fact, they think it's not just okay, but the way it ought to be. I don't get it. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  6. No, Ron. You specifically said, "it portrays an accurate presentation of the Democratic Party in Washington politics." That's at complete odds with the notion it applies to everyone. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  7. Spoiler alert I stopped after Kevin Spacey made out with the SS guy. Call me what you like but I really am not interested in seeing that. Interesting fact, Spacey's wife on the show is none other than "Jenny" of Forrest Gump fame. And Princess Buttercup, and General Antiope. Wide range over lifetime. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  8. Your confirmation bias is showing. http://www.salon.com/2013/03/12/why_is_francis_underwood_a_democrat/ The entire message of the show is it could apply to virtually anyone in DC. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  9. Sort of, but not really. I costs little to drive to the DZ ($10 from LA to Perris?), and there is always tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that. There is a risk/reward calculation for sure though. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  10. I believe you win the, "Lucky Bastard" award. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

    Yeah, no

Yep. Just then. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  12. quade

    Yeah, no

It seems a contradiction, but that's really fiction. It acknowledges query, and even though it's eerie, No means no, regardless of the question. ---- Your punctuation in your subject line points out your misunderstanding. It's not, "Yeah, no." It's, "Yeah. No." quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  13. But it's a good enough con-man line that the marks won't understand it. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  14. Thanks for the offer. Very kind. I wasn't always this way, but I've been disappointed enough to look at my plans carefully. In my previous planning I had considered Oregon as a bit too iffy and was looking farther east, but ya never know, I might take you up on the offer. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  15. I very much want to go see this and have wanted to for several years. What stops me is the crap-shoot aspect of traveling with the potential for it being clouded out at my initial location, then trying to chase it for several hundred miles only to have that crowded out by everyone else, possibly stuck in traffic on a two lane hi-way in BFE and getting totally screwed. I'm willing to go to a lot of places to experience a lot of things, but they usually don't have as specific a schedule as an eclipse does and you just have to know this one is going to be super crowed at all the "good" spots. I know most hotels at the prime locations have been sold out for years. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  16. More like 26 years: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4964780/ Nope. Much farther back. Shit like this. http://money.cnn.com/2016/03/28/news/trump-apartment-tenants/index.html I'm a west coast kid and even at 20 I knew he was essentially a lying dirtbag slumlord taking advantage of the people "below" him. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  17. Only 20? Hmmm... I could swear I formed my opinion of him at least twice that long ago and it hasn't changed one bit. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  18. It's not why the film was made, but it's why it was made there. Unfortunately, tax incentives are a race to the bottom with state tax payer money. As soon as the next state over offers a bigger incentive, that's where the work goes. Everyone would be better off if they (and almost every other subsidy for businesses) didn't exist. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  19. The average time from script to screen is about ten years. Obviously, if some studio head really wants it, it happens NOW, but I'm talking averages. It's a miracle anything actually gets made. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  20. It may be used as an indicator in one person's perception of another, but to say it "tells the truth" is not a statement based in fact. I would pretty much never rely on anyone's interpretation of body language to, for instance, convict somebody of a crime. Yes, it has been done, most notably in the 2004 Scott Peterson case. I think the jury was wrong to take it into consideration as opposed to actual evidence. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  21. He might be leaving sooner than 2020. If that happens, he's not going to be a lame duck. He's going to be a number on an orange jumpsuit. Here's hoping. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  22. "Lame Duck" is a term which refers to a specific period between the President being voted out of office and him actually leaving. In that regard, no. He is pretty fucking lame though. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  23. I'm not a huge fan of this decision, but treaties are one of the powers granted to the President by the Constitution. Trump has pulled a LOT of bullshit, but strangely this is not something I can -legally- quibble over. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  24. Um, she's the same age as me. You may want to reconsider your wording. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  25. Hold on. Did that ever actually exist? I mean, it sort of feels like it should have, but I'm trying to think of a time when that was ever universally true (or even just in the US); where somebody wasn't being burned in effigy (or in actuality) by some group. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
