  1. Because you're off topic. In this case wildly so. Straying far afield of the topic of a thread is an indicator of trollish behavior. Everyone does it on occasion. You tend to do it quite a bit and somehow frequently ends up in religious discussions. Feel free to make your own topics with regard to religion. Try to NOT interfere with others discussing other topics. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  2. I believe you've completely misunderstood pretty much everything about the piece. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  3. I understand the point of the exercise, but since it is such an extreme example I can't give a lot to weight to it. Here's my problem, I think if the genders weren't reversed, but this debate was shown to a reasonable audience who had previously not been exposed to it, that the Trump words would be taken as overly aggressive and not Presidential. I think a better experiment would be to take a debate between reasonable male debaters, both of whom were generally thought to be only slightly aggressive but both knowledgeable and considered appropriate, and then conduct three more tests; Male/ Female, Female/Male, Female/Female. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  4. I'm certain you're right about the part in bold, but my guess is it has the same meaning as finding bunnies in clouds. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  5. Is it treason to give details of weapons that are already in the wild? For instance, would it be treason for me to give WikiLeaks the chemical formula for TNT? I only ask because the CIA lost control of all of these tools a long time ago. I'm reasonably certain they've been available for quite some time on the black market. Here's an article from the EFF from September of last year. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2016/09/shadow-brokers-publish-powerful-nsa-spy-tools-demonstrating-flaws-nsas-approach WaPo article from August of last year. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2016/08/17/nsa-hacking-tools-were-leaked-online-heres-what-you-need-to-know/?utm_term=.bfe44f76131d Edited to add one more thing. Love or hate WikiLeaks, at least on this go-round they appear to be acting a bit more responsibly than they have in the recent past. In this particular dump it appears as if they've done a considerable amount of responsible redactions. I've criticized them in the past for not doing redactions and thereby hurting innocent individuals who had little to do with the situation. In this case, they look like they're being pretty good about it and removing 3rd party information which could do harm. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  6. I disagree. After the Snowden revelations which proved the CIA was hoovering up data on US citizens, the CIA was supposed to abide by an agreement they had with the tech companies and turn over any Zero Day exploits they happened to find in the course of their work. The idea is that if the CIA finds an exploit and DOESN'T turn it over to the manufacturers, it makes the entire US less safe because it can then be used against us. This is the generally agreed upon concept of the tech companies, security watchdog groups, and the US government. The fact the CIA breached the agreement IS a legitimate concern of US citizens. The fact the actual exploits are now in the hands of WikiLeaks is proof. Any backdoor, any exploit to any system is a threat to everyone. EVERYONE. Consider if some rogue state got hold of them and decided to deploy against Trump's infamously insecure weapon of choice, his silly Android phone. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  7. Yeah, that's always a tricky subject. If a doc crew has handlers assigned to them by the government it's pretty safe to assume they're held accountable. Death might not be on the line as long as they can show due diligence. I think most governments realize it's next to impossible to control everything 100% of the time. If the "fixers" are hired directly by the doc crew and everything is done low key, then it's possible the government doesn't know who they are, but it all depends on how oppressive the regime is to begin with. In the old Soviet Union it was assumed all "translators" were KGB or at least accountable to them even though the were coordinated through the Soviet film bureau. I would assume the same type of thing is true in NK and mainland China for instance; even the tourists are assigned handlers. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  8. I think generally people are when they get into that part of the business (sometimes subjects not so much though). One does not simply walk into Mordor. My post was more of an explanation in general terms. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  9. Anytime a documentarian decides to lie to a government, he's taking his life in his own hands. That's the road to being charged as a spy. In some countries, that's a fatal mistake. I'd say NK is one of those countries. It's the sort of stuff you only reveal once you're out of the country and plan on never going back. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  10. Agreed. There are a lot of fights to fight for equality I think need addressing well before this is a priority. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  11. Understood, but consider that from Wikileaks point of view Trump may simply be "useful" and not actually a partner. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  12. To be fair, these are almost certainly documents Wikileaks has had in its possession for several months. This is almost certainly more about Assange's attempts to "tear it all down" than Trump in particular. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  13. More than I can count. How many people do you know? That is like asking someone how much money they have. If they know, it ain't much. Do you think you know more than 200 people? More than 2,000? Just ball park it. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  14. How many people do you know? Total number. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  15. When I read people making statements like this it shows their echo chamber turned up to 11. How many Christians could Ron possibly know? 150? 2,000? So what? If "every Christian" Ron knows is a member of some isolated group, it's meaningless with regard to the larger set of Christians of registered voters as a whole. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  16. Your metaphor is inaccurate, as usual. At best he won on a technical. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  17. Comey really has me scratching my head, when I compare his actions just prior to the election, with his actions since then. Remember, Clapper has demonstrably shown he is willing to lie to Congress, under oath, in the course of his duties to protect Top Secret sources and methods. I'm not saying that's even necessarily wrong, just that he might have a reason to not be 100% truthful on camera on a Sunday news chat show. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  18. Reasonable article. Hill would be a good choice for advisor IF Trump would actually listen to her. Her comments about how Putin runs Russian seem right on the mark. Her comments about how Russia saw the elections seem spot on too. I do question her comments about Snowden, but that's quibbling in how one decides to interpret what she meant by them. It seems Putin didn't so much want Trump as President, but saw it as more of an opportunity to defeat Hillary (his real goal). Now, a couple of months into this BS, the tone of Russian media has drastically changed WRT Trump, a sure sign Putin himself is displeased with how things are going. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  19. Parsing Trump is difficult since he frequently uses terms incorrectly. Within the last week or so he said ICE was a military operation, which is clearly untrue, but it sounds good. Later a spokeshole clarified the statement to what he meant to say was it had military like precision, which is still undefined, but at least gets away from the Posse Comitatus aspects. I'm not fan of Trump, BY A LONG SHOT, but I can see where it's entirely possible his lack of knowledge is at play in this series of tweets. President Obama would never need to put a "tapp" on Trump's phone line for the FBI to know what was being said between him and ANYONE outside the US borders. This information would come to us courtesy of the NSA, via the Bush 43 administration as detailed via the Snowden documents. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  21. Fox news is using anonymous sources to vet their expert.....priceless. Because Sweden doesn't have an embassy, or a consulate, anywhere near Washington DC or New York! They couldn't possibly have vetted this guy through the embassy's own press office in time. Oh, wait. Nah, it's just "easier" and "faster" to ask a bunch of their own trusted sources about someone's credentials. O'Reilly claims he did. After the fact and never mentioned it previously though. 23. There is a pick-up truck at a well known SoCal drop zone which was purchased after one of the engines of one of the planes, while on jump run, decided it no longer needed all its parts. A chunk of rotor about the size of a porkpie hat and weighing 10 or so pounds accelerated from 12.5 to impact the truck sitting in the driveway of a nearby home. The rotor made a neat hole in the top of the cab, went through a seat, and floorboard before creating a divot in the driveway. Or at least, those are the facts as I recall them. I tell that story to illustrate it doesn't take a hell of a lot of mass to do massive damage. What I find interesting is the photos which go along with this article seem to indicate to me, just based on my knowledge of one other similar instance that the object in question appears to have been both wider and slower in that rather than punching a neat hole, it dragged a comparatively large area of roof down into the hole. It would be interesting to look at the debris. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

    Russiagate

He's not the worst Republican. He's not the best either. His climate denial stance is ridiculous. I do appreciate he understands how the establishment actually works and how to push the right buttons to dog opponents. He had no qualms about using that to screw with Obama. I like the fact he's being reasonably balanced by doing the same against Trump. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  25. I'm sorry but this view is what's kept us from doing what's necessary to bring our troops home. Islam had hated the West since forever...nothing new there. Are you intentionally missing the point? Tell me, why did Iran capture fifty-two American diplomats and citizens in November of 1979? Was it because "Islam had hated the West since forever" or maybe a different very specific reason? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
