Spicer IMMEDIATELY denied the validity of the AP article. https://twitter.com/PressSec/status/832616382667726851 Some are speculating there were various copies of the memo circulating in order to smoke out leakers. That of course makes no sense whatsoever since Spicer denied its existence to begin with as opposed to simply saying that. According to the current article linked; So it should have been no surprise to the WH Director of Communications. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  2. It's the price you pay for having the emoji keyboard installed. There simply has to be a place on the keyboard to switch between the two. If you're happy NEVER using Emoji (and you might well be), then you can get rid of this by doing the following. Settings > General > (scroll down a bit) Keyboard > Keyboards In the upper right you'll see "Edit". Press that and and then touch the red symbol next to the word "Emoji". Then delete that. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  3. Nobody is "banning" anything. This is my entire point. Let's say you wanted to write a valentines letter to your wife, but you know you occasionally make mistakes, and misunderstandings, and like all people you're fallible. The SMART thing to do is to hand it over to somebody you trust to take a look at it before you give it to her. That person can then maybe tell you things you hadn't considered. It's still up to you whether or not you decide to change them or STET. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  4. I don't think you know what the word "censorship" means. censorship ˈsensərSHip/ noun 1. the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Maybe you should explain it to me. This isn't censorship. It's a voluntarily submitted reading service. Nobody is bending arms. The government isn't involved. It's no different than an author submitting his work to a proofreader to check for spelling and grammatical errors. It's smart. I've tried to start this as a business myself. Far too many people write things they simply don't realize can be taken in mockable ways. Do you consider all forms of proofreading to be censorship? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  6. It appears as if there was a discussion about how much crap he was going to have to take and existing staff was the issue. Honorable. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  7. When a part of government is doing things expressly forbidden by its Constitution, I believe it's entirely appropriate. That person has to be aware of the potential consequences and there are people who have attempted to leak frivolously or maliciously against the interests of the Constitution, but those who act in favor of the Constitution, I have no issue with whatsoever. For instance, I support and defend Snowden. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  8. More likely it was his desire for more immigrants. Maybe a meeting with the folks in the labor department (think of it as the country's HR department) about the inappropriateness of his hamburger ads? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

However, it's still troubling because, what were they talking about? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  10. You're telling her and not me; right? ;) quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  11. Could you please post a screen grab of what you're talking about? I'm as much of an iOS geek as anybody, but I can't for the life of me figure out which key you're talking about. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  12. I was a freelance flight instructor operating out of John Wayne for about 10 years although I will admit it has been more time than that since I have been. I'm completely unclear how anyone could possibly make this mistake although it has happened more than once. The runways have standard runway markings and VASIs. The taxiways do not. ;) quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  13. Emphasis mine. I can completely agree with your last sentence and he wouldn't be the only one, for instance, Manafort. What I still find incredulous though is the concept they, Flynn, Manfort, and other lower levels, didn't understand the laws about negotiations between private citizens and foreign officials. Remember, this didn't just happen after they had won the election and were in the transition period, but also well before during the campaign. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  14. The part where there are transcripts of conversations. Source and more: https://apnews.com/44c0a5194f8e429ea799b2f5916485bf/Trump-knew-Flynn-misled-WH-weeks-before-ouster:-officials If there are transcripts, then the line was not secure. Things like this and and the David Petraeus scandal make me wonder how much tradecraft the guys at the top know and this is Spy 101 stuff. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  15. Flynn realized that. He did not get where he is by being ignorant of how intelligence works. So, you're saying he made phone calls on unsecured lines so that . . . what? Sure, he made some that were encrypted as well, but he made enough unencrypted ones to hang himself out to dry. That part makes no sense. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  16. I'm reasonably certain both sides know each is spying on the other and especially when it comes to calls to or from officials such as ambassadors. It takes a special kind of high level nitwit (and apparently Flynn is in that set) to not realize this. I can understand it from maybe you or any other "normal" person, but holy hell man, how dumb of a government official do you have to be to not understand what the job of the NSA is? Perhaps his career didn't enable him to consider that possibility? 2002 to 2004: Commanded 111th Military Intelligence Brigade 2004 to 2007: Director of Intelligence for Joint Special Operations Command 2007 to 2008: Director of Intelligence, United States Central Command 2008 to 2009: Director of Intelligence, Joint Staff 2009 to 2010: Director of Intelligence, ISAF (Afghanistan) 2011 to 2012: Office of the Director of National Intelligence 2012 to 2014: Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency Did I mention a special kind of high level nitwit? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  18. As much of a stink as certain members of Congress made over private emails, one has to wonder if the same amount of zeal will be displayed in investigating this? Yeah, riiight. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  19. I believe you've entirely missed the point. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedition_Act_of_1918 My question is when will Trump attempt to silence his detractors, shut down SNL, that sort of thing. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  22. The fish stinks from the head. And seriously, what is worse; a guy talking shit to the President or the President casually offering to destroy somebody's career simply because one of the President's supporters doesn't happen to like him? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  23. Not really certain how to unpack that. You're talking about Trump; right? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  24. This would have been sort of relevant about a year ago, but damn is this late to the game. One wonders why anyone would even think this is relevant at this point. I mean, geebus, where's the Auto-Tune the News version of the Tea Pot Dome scandal? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
