  1. would be interesting numbers - i was looking at doing a wing suit dive from 25k over here in my SM1 - because of the new improved technology and more flight time we can achieve due to better build/designed suits i think any current longest flight record can be shattered by a long margin. waiting to get our plane (king air) down to the coast again. where i live its 5k above sea level so it wont work. ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

  4. well done on holding on to the cables and not trowing them away JArno i agree - zips would prob not have worked here...something to think about - then again what are the odds of flipping through your risers on deployment ? ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
  5. gotcha ! ok will work on it this weekend quick question though - if a hypothetical canopy flies at a 50mph in a straight line: A-into a wind blowing 10 knots B- with a tailwind (ie down wind) blowing at 10 knots what would the effect be on the on the on the touch down position relative to where we started the experiment if you could draw a line in the sand? sounds like im reading my perceptions wrong. ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

  7. well...in perfect conditions ie no or facing a very light wind the turn starts at 700 feet. facing stronger wind its lower AND in stronger down wind it is higher. I know that if i turn at 700 feet and i dont do more than a 270 turn with my canopy i end up in a safe position given those criteria. the longer i wait the OR the stronger the downwind the closer i will end towards the ground and obviously un safe. strong down winds turns i avoid in totality and leaving a turn for more than 1.5 sec (and thats an absolute MAX its always less) after my beep at 700 feet i also avoid. its my confort zone...or my way of trying to create order doing something that is incredibly dangerous. letting go and stepping over "my" rules will put me somewhere i do not want to find myself. these criteria/times/turn degrees/ are all relative to my wingloading and my canopy. once i change the canopy or i change my wingloading all the rules will need to change and it will be back to the drawing board. but thats not too soon - i have in my mind at least 500 - 750 jumps left on that 108 xoas which is still a while at 20 jump a week. is there something wrong with my approach? i prefer using visual as well as audible Q's. my opinion is that the more experienced you get the more you can rely on visual perception (all though lots of people still have one off day and it costs them - something im desperate to avoid.). I can't imagine myself ever doing big turns without an audible. my 2c. ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
  8. hi all with the passing of tonto ill will be doing the load organizing at the affc. we would have been doing it together but now its only me. Bernard (x-wind) and Alex (fly like brick) will help me where required. We already have quite a few people attending and it should be a good event with some good flyers. We will have a few smoke loads and i have a few BM firebird suits as demo's (3 sizes) for new students and a new SM1 from Tony Suits for the more accomplished guys. Alex might bring some Blades aswell - dont know yet. I spoke to the organizer this am - there are 160 people registered already and normaly about 40/60 show up without any registration ~ so far there is a PORTER and PAC firm together with a C130. if he gets another 40 people registered he will also have a KINGAIR availible. Either way - you wont be sitting around not jumping...the planes are running from dusk till dawn. The organizer was also a friend of t's and would like to fill up both the planes and have a double run formation with smoke in his honour at the peak of the boogie. I'm excited
  9. i have a 108 Xaos 27 loaded at a gay 1.89 i like optima's so much i have two in fact in my helmet. 750 ft - decide if my path is clear and if setup is a go or a abort. 700 depending on wind initiate turn at earliest or give it a max of 1.5 secs before initiation. 270 turn. ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

  12. HI ALL i was on the load with T and had a chat with him on the way to altitude - he was in great spirits ! God i cant believe i have to post on his report - what Peej said was pretty much it. He was fighting his way out after initiation of a 270 i think he lost a toggle but either way he was fighting all the way into impact after initiation - brother you are my mentor and i will always love the thought of you. i will miss you for the rest of time - everytime i put my wingsuit over my shoulders i will think of you. you will be flying off our wingtips into the light. my wish is that every single canopy pilot reads the posts that follow and LEARN - thats the way he would have wanted it. God bless his soul. we got taya a flight to sa and she arrives in the am. i will help setup a trust for the girls - . ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

  16. its a point i tried making when i jumped the first prototype. its changed my "bests" on so many levels. my two team mates have been looking for new suits for the last couple of months and simply couldnt decide what to get untill i got my sm1 and we have flown together alot. we have discussed pro 's and cons alot. over many flights and have decided our team will be flying sm1 tony suits. its the fist REAL evolution in the sport from a design perspective since the first suits which started using ram air cells to inflate wings. every competitor suit i have bought was great but simply a tuned version of what was out there. this is the first time i feel something different and the first time my performace has jumped dramatically. once again im not sponsored and this is the most expereienced i have ever been ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

  20. ok here we go .... these are the rounds for the www.winsguitcompetition.com artistic event.... www.wingsuitcompetition.com/jumps.htm (check out the anmimations on the website for the moves below) The jumps The divepool wil consist of 5 simple jumps. The jumps are already available here on the website so everyone can practice for the contest. Lets show we are a serious skydiving dicipline. Capable of tight flying and docks and points. A dock only counts if its held for at least 2 seconds (50 frames on the video) Round 1 (one point for each grip/dock flown) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. - Right hand jumper (A) does an up and over, and makes a 2 way hand dock on the other side. - Right hand jumper (b) does an up and over, and makes a 2 way hand dock on the other side. Round 2(one point for each grip/dock flown) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. - Right hand jumper (A) makes a barrelroll and makes a hand dock - Left hand jumper (B) makes a barrelroll and makes a hand dock Round 3(one point for each grip/dock flown) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. - Jumper (B) makes an Ankle dock (hand on foot/ankle) on jumper (A) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. - Jumper (A) makes an Ankle dock on jumper (B) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. Round 4(one point for each grip/dock flown) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. - Jumper (A) transitions to backfly, Jumper (B) makes a hand dock - Jumper (A) transitions back to bellyflight, and a 2 way hand dock is made. - jumper (B) transitions to backfly, Jumper (A) makes a hand dock - Jumper (B) transitions back to bellyflight, and a 2 way hand dock is made. Round 5(one point for each grip/dock flown) - 2 way hand dock. Both flyers belly to earth. - Both jumpers transitions to backfly, and make a backflying 2 way hand dock - Both jumpers transition back to bellyfly, and make a 2 way hand dock. have fun ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
  21. Id glady write an essay on whats wrong with me... Have you got a few hours to read it? hee heE! back on topic ! yep got the barrel rolls sorted - a little off heading still but not huge - need to freefly less and wingsuit more! been doing alot of back flying in the suit - damn the range and forward speed is incredible! ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
