Here ya go, Ace. Enjoy the funny dialog, and ass whipping the perp gets in the end. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=dbc_1187320863 BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

AT&T, in all it's many incarnations, is notorious for trying to pull this shit since the mid to late 90's. I did an internet search for Federal consumer protections services, found one, and emailed them all the details. Funny...ATT sent me a letter a few weeks later saying my account was zero'd out. If Qwest won't stop calls from these people... http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-529-3198 http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8665293198 ...then I'd start legal action against Qwest for failing to protect you from obvious telephone predators through their network. How about try to be part of the solution, not part of the problem? Call Qwest, file a complaint, and have all calls from that number blocked. Sleep well. BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Corliss Is Really Going To Jump W.O. Parachute

Kinda have to disagree. A dead-sticked 182 is still flying even though it can't gain altitude like a powerless glider can. And while not specific to C182's, I'll have to disagree with that statement as well. Have you ever seen Bob Hoover's Twin Commander dead stick routine? Energy management at it's best! How weird is it to see an aviator that experienced, from a family known for designing fast/efficient aircraft, flying cross country in a C150 that doesn't even have wheel pants? BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

OK Rob, time to put your copy of Jane's away. BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Good eyes Hoop. Are you having to do extra house cleaning after knocking all that dust off yer brain cells? Anyone wanna try and put a name to the jumper to the far right, in green and tan? BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Quit cigs in October 1981, before they hit $1 a pack. However, I still enjoy the indo. BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Anyone want to take a shot at: Who? When? Where? I'll give you a clue...Back in the day, it was a real BIG deal! Good luck! BASE359 Photo credit: Steve Chalfant "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

That helps jog some brain matter... Is that the same Tom Bullion that is a FedEx captain out of MEM and flies a beautiful Staggerwing Beechcraft now? Where are Steve and Bonnie Chalfont? Last I saw these guys was in Dalton, GA. Might have seen them a couple times more in FL but can't remember when. I'll try to get in touch with Bob Kempf for his recollections. jon Yes, same Tom Bullion. I have a pic of the Staggerwing somewhere. Steve Chalfant is alive and well, living in the s/e US. Who are these Southern skydivers? 1970's
JSBIRD replied to JSBIRD's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Thanks for all the input, guys! I got an email from Bud Germany filling me in on some more of the details. Photo credit: Steve Chalfant The D18S was normally used as a jump ship in the Memphis area, and had ferried a bunch of Tennessee jumpers to Sylvania, Georgia for the 1974 world record attempt. The RW record attempt was sponsored by The National Enquirer, and a Curtis C46 Commando was brought in for airlift. Seems like some of you guys have a problem with measuring distance. I didn't see one damn TFTM in the whole bunch! Quite a few of them in my first logbook...wherever it is. BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything" -
Who are these Southern skydivers? 1970's
JSBIRD replied to JSBIRD's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
OK, it appears between Steve, Roger and Hoop, we have all but one of the jumpers identified. So who is the jumper in the center, black/red PopTop? The pilot in the red headband and yellow shirt, and owner of the D18S, is Bud Germany. BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything" -
Oh jezz....Here we go again. Don't we already have a thread for this ghost hunt? BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Drippy Dick Klimas went to med school and became a Doctor, living/practicing in Birmingham, AL. Dick still jumps. Can't say what became of Bookworm. Roy E Ray airport in Bayou La Batre, AL was my home DZ back then. Home to N81W, the fastest climbing D18 in the South. Keep your knees bent, and keep most of your weight on your front foot. Trying to lift your back foot will help here. Day 2 or 3 will be your breakthrough day. Suck it up until then...it's worth it. BASE359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"
