  1. Hi turtle, I don't know about you, but my common sense says that you then should have directed your question to her and not to me. Again, what've you been drinking? Jerry Baumchen
  2. Hi turtle, Who has mentioned 'NSFW? What've you been drinking? Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi folks, Here you go: http://www.wsj.com/articles/a-scaredy-cats-guide-to-skydiving-1461256932 Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi to all you Brits, Is Boris Johnson your version of Canada's Rob Ford? I'm just curious: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/boris-johnson-obama-kenyan-222303 Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi 434, It is getting nasty out there: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/delegates-face-death-threats-from-trump-supporters-222302 Jerry Baumchen

  7. Hi folks, Back in 1989 I was the second person to receive FAA approval to re-certify SAC canopies. I have kept the approved procedure to myself because is/was my work. And I did not want someone merely copying it for their use. However, I doubt that any of us will be having anymore to do with the SAC canopies. So I am willing to share this procedure. It is not that the procedure could be used, it is so some of you might learn 'a procedure' of how to submit this type of stuff to the FAA for approval. Let's consider it an educational opportunity. So, if any of you out there would like to see/have a copy of this procedure, just send me an email at: jerrybaumchen(at)gmail(dot)com and I will send it back as an attachment. Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi Bill, A fair question. However, what I am willing to pay for food is what I know I will pay because I do it at that time. Back in the 60's ( possibly even earlier ), we voted on building the Trojan nuclear plant. It was to be mostly owned & operated by PGE, an investor-owned utility; not a PUD. We were told that the investors would cover the entire costs. Now that Trojan is no longer operating, the utility is now asking the ratepayers to ante up the costs of the clean-up/teardown/etc. It is really rarely as simple as 'what is one willing to pay.' 9. Hi Michael, I have had a number of people tell me that they have found a way to 'lock-up' the RAX System. So far none of them have been correct. Contact me on: jerrybaumchen(at)gmail(dot)com as I would like to know about how you did it. Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi folks, It looks like the WSJ Weekend Edition for tomorrow will have a skydiving article; see the attachment. Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi Michael, Uh, could we make that: Baumchen Sheesh, Canadian schooling system. IMO this is very important. I have looked at nearly every MARD design out there ( that I could get my hands on ) and some of them are a lot of very specific steps for the rigger in the field to do exactly. Now, not that any rigger should do things not exactly as req'd, but the more complex designs lend themselves for errors in packing. KISS anyone? Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Deyan, IMO, after reading their ACE manual, just some slight changes/'improvements.' One thing that these two systems have in common is that the original container designs do have an inner top reserve flap. That is needed for a Skyhook or a RAX System to be mounted onto. Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi Robert, Yup, that covers anything I would ever want. * Jerry Baumchen * Definite play on words.
  14. Hi Rbert, Since the majority of the Trump supporters are: white - male - lower education Surely you jest, Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Spence, Then get out your camera and start your own research. Just make sure that your health plan covers massive trauma. Jerry Baumchen
  16. Hi turtle, IMO only in a very macabre sort of way. You really want to go there? Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi folks, I should have become a doctor, they do some interesting research: https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/womens-health/a/31386606/apparently-there-are-5-different-types-of-butts-which-one-do-you-have/ I need to start paying more attention to this stuff; I think I'll go out & start looking. If you never hear from me again, you can probably guess what happened to me. Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi Robert, As Oregon did many years ago. You have choices; you can mail it in using a stamp, you can drop it off at certain locations, or you can toss it and not vote. There are no polling stations in Oregon anymore. And of course, there was the one dufus at work who tried to claim that requiring you to buy a stamp was akin to a poll tax. Jerry Baumchen PS) IMO to improve this system, just work real hard to do whatever you can to eliminate all political parties. It will work, folks.
  19. Hi Robert, While I understand your concern, John Kallend is correct. And it is the state rules/laws that determine this. And we are only talking about the primaries; which are a part of the nominating process. We tried to change the voting method in our primaries a few years ago. The Repub-Crats were completely against it. C'est la vie, Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi Peter, Interesting. That website is incorrect. It says: 'After it flashes, the flashing yellow left-turn arrow then becomes the better-known steady yellow left-turn arrow.' It does not go to 'steady left-turn,' it goes to steady green arrow. Lots of them where I live, and more going in as I type. Absolutely, back to your regular programming. Jerry Baumchen PS) I agree with tk.
  21. Hi Robert, I readily admit that I do not keep up with the minutiae about the voting laws here in Oregon. But, back in the 50's our house was a polling station and my mother was on the 'group' that counted the ballots. Lots of folks wrote in their choices; many votes for Mickey Mouse, Roy Rogers, etc. I 'think' that as a non-affiliated voter I can write-in whomever I want and it will be counted. Any idea on what the laws are that are where you live? Jerry Baumchen
  22. Hi John, For the vast majority of my life, I was in complete agreement. However, I would prefer to get rid of all political parties. You want on the ballot for any particular state; then meet the req'ments and get on the ballot, but without being recognized as being an R or D or whatever. Nebraska has a unicameral legislature and it seems to work for them. And, yes I know those are not nation-wide contests. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Walt, I could not agree more. However, I doubt you or I will live long enough to see that. I'm really old school; back when a competent rigger could look at the equipment & decide if it was airworthy or not. And before any of you get going on your keyboards; yes, I know things change. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Walt, I do not have the FAA letter right in front me now. However, I do believe that the FAA letters says something to the effect of 'at the time of certification.' This is not when the product is sold; it is when they receive their TSO authorization. Big difference IMO, Jerry Baumchen
  25. Hi Robert, You're absolutely correct. Maybe I should cut him a little slack; but he is stiill a dufus. Jerry Baumchen
