  1. There is a process by which the agency who owns the information can identify it and properly declassify it. The president and his delegated appointees have the authority to order that declassification process to take place. I would be interested to know if any such orders were given or if they simply made rogue disclosures of classified information for political purposes. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  2. Plame's employment status at the CIA was classified at the time of the leak, irregardless of whether or not she was "currently" covert. Cheney, Rove, Libby and probably others knowingly leaked her status as an act of political retribution, and that disclosure effectively ended Plame's career. It was an indefensible, politically calculated act. Any career employee would lose their security clearance and their job for making such a disclosure. If the White House thought Plame or Wilson had acted improperly by using their official positions to further a political agenda, then they should have had the IG's at the CIA and the Department of State investigate their suspicions. It's called acting with integrity, accountability, and professionalism, and the Bush administration does not believe it is bound by those standards. And about the cake...everybody knows he wanted WMD materials, he was a whackjob. That's what whackjobs want...cake. Knowing that somebody wants cake and actually documenting their actions to get the cake are entirely different things. Documenting the overt act of getting the cake is actionable, someone merely wanting cake is not actionable...unless you lie about it. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  3. Leaking classified information is illegal, regardless of how many people already have the information. Then Plame herself and Joe Wilson should be found guilty of leaking the info themselves. That fancy acronym of a law that supposedly was violated requires the person doing the leaking to know it is classified. That was not the case. The jury was prevented from hearing such evidence. Giving a politician the authority to declassify sensitive information as a retaliatory tool is like giving a teenager the keys to the liquor cabinet and the car at the same time...somebody is going to get hurt. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.

  5. My personal favs are all dead: Hendrix Stevie Ray Duane Allman They displayed massive skills during very brief careers...just imagine what they could have done. p.s. - I'm shocked nobody mentioned Jeff Beck or Tom Morello...great talents. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.

  8. For electric guitar based blues you might start with Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. I have a huge blues collection, but to scale it down, my Ipod blues genre has some of the following in it: albert collins, albert king, allman brothers, alvin youngblood hart, bb king, buddy guy, eric clapton, etta james, howlin wolf, james cotton, jimi hendrix, john lee hooker, john mayall, junior wells, kelly joe phelps, lucinda williams, luther allison, muddy waters, robert johnson, stevie ray vaughn, taj mahal, van morrison. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  9. It would be great to be able to use a standard cable, but can you operate the mp3 player from the head unit with a usb cable and have it display the album, song, and whatnot? When I plug in my Ipod, I just stuff it in a dash compartment and all of the functions of the Ipod work and display thru the head unit (switching playlists, genre, artists, etc.). If that's the way the ZEN works, then great. If not, then they have some catching up to do in that area. I do, however, like the idea of not having to use Apple's lame software. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  10. I've had the first gen Ipod Mini since it came out, but the GF recently got me an in-dash Alpine cd player ($179) for Christmas that includes a proprietary cable that is now running to my Ipod (a few other manufacturers have these units too). The cd player controls and charges the Ipod and retains all of the Ipod's functionality and audio quality. In short... it rocks, and has increased the usability factor of the Ipod by a large margin. If Creative wants to take market share from Apple, they might think about making some deals with the makers of these auto head units. They may already have something out, but I did not notice a single unit with the full interoperability of the Ipod/Alpine gizmo. I think some of the new BMW's and VW's are similarily interfacing with the Ipod now. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.

  12. This is one of the problems I have with my attraction to the Libertarian Party...protection of wildlife and the environment. I have developed a personal belief that we have a collective property right interest in such things, and the protection of our natural resources and wildlife is a legitimate function of government. Friedman & Co. was wrong on this point, leaving it to a free market regulation is bad juju. Our ablilty to wreck the environment and exterminate entire species has long ago eclipsed our inclination to give a shit. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  13. Agree totally, but my top vote would have to go to Robert Duvall. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  14. Gotta go with either: The Allman Brothers Band, Live at the Fillmore East Little Feat, Waiting For Columbus (also the best live band I have ever seen) _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.

I've been to several great places in Austin as a guest...just can't remember the names. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.

  19. By your rationale, a smoker is more highly qualified to tend bar in a smoking establishment than a non-smoker, all other things being equal. I don't think so. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  20. Married at 29. Divorced at 39. Three years later and still single, not by design though...just circumstance. I liked being married, I just married the wrong girl. Single life is fun too. In the past few years I have dated girls from 19 to 47, and learned alot. I'm sure I'll get married again though...if the right gal comes along. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  21. Justices publicly discuss legal theories and give opinions all the time, at conferences, in print, PBS, etc. Scalia is pretty outspoken, but most of them do it to one extent or another. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  22. Did Scalia make the comment about the actual detainee or case that was to be heard before the SCOTUS, or was he talking hypothetically? Scalia is a nut, but he is probably the most respected Justice among his peers. _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
  23. I don't know what y'all are talking about. Everytime I have visited Austin I partied my ass off and had a great time. Great weather, good jobs, primo music scene, beer, hot chicks. What's not to like? _________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
