  1. For the most part its not the Irqi citizenry doing all the blowing things up. Terrorists from all over have come to Iraq in an attempt to surpress the formation of a free society. They understand more of what's at risk than we do. Were you aware that over 75% of the people in the military support W? Why do you suppose that is? If it really was all that bad I'd imagine they be pushing for a regime change right here at home. Problem is the media...good news doesn't sell well for them. Please don't dent the planet. 3. buried in some of the United Nation's own confidential documents, clues can be seen that underscore the possibility of just such a Saddam-Al Qaeda link — clues leading to a locked door in this Swiss lakeside resort. Next to that door, a festive sign spells out in gold letters under a green flag that this is the office of MIGA, the Malaysian Swiss Gulf and African Chamber (search). Registered here 20 years ago as a society to promote business between the Gulf States and Asia, Europe and Africa, MIGA is a company that the United Nations and the U.S. government says has served as a hub of Al Qaeda finance: A terrorist chamber of commerce. Saddam Hussein's Support for International Terrorism Iraq is one of seven countries that have been designated by the Secretary of State as state sponsors of international terrorism. UNSCR 687 prohibits Saddam Hussein from committing or supporting terrorism, or allowing terrorist organizations to operate in Iraq. Saddam continues to violate these UNSCR provisions. In 1993, the Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) directed and pursued an attempt to assassinate, through the use of a powerful car bomb, former U.S. President George Bush and the Emir of Kuwait. Kuwaiti authorities thwarted the terrorist plot and arrested 16 suspects, led by two Iraqi nationals. Iraq shelters terrorist groups including the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO), which has used terrorist violence against Iran and in the 1970s was responsible for killing several U.S. military personnel and U.S. civilians. Iraq shelters several prominent Palestinian terrorist organizations in Baghdad, including the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF), which is known for aerial attacks against Israel and is headed by Abu Abbas, who carried out the 1985 hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro and murdered U.S. citizen Leon Klinghoffer. Iraq shelters the Abu Nidal Organization, an international terrorist organization that has carried out terrorist attacks in twenty countries, killing or injuring almost 900 people. Targets have included the United States and several other Western nations. Each of these groups have offices in Baghdad and receive training, logistical assistance, and financial aid from the government of Iraq. In April 2002, Saddam Hussein increased from $10,000 to $25,000 the money offered to families of Palestinian suicide/homicide bombers. The rules for rewarding suicide/homicide bombers are strict and insist that only someone who blows himself up with a belt of explosives gets the full payment. Payments are made on a strict scale, with different amounts for wounds, disablement, death as a "martyr" and $25,000 for a suicide bomber. Mahmoud Besharat, a representative on the West Bank who is handing out to families the money from Saddam, said, "You would have to ask President Saddam why he is being so generous. But he is a revolutionary and he wants this distinguished struggle, the intifada, to continue." Former Iraqi military officers have described a highly secret terrorist training facility in Iraq known as Salman Pak, where both Iraqis and non-Iraqi Arabs receive training on hijacking planes and trains, planting explosives in cities, sabotage, and assassinations. What I find most distrubing is how many good americans don't seem to have the cojones to see this war through. To me its all about your attitude. I see this as the beginning of great change for the entire world. Will it be difficult? Good things usually are. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  4. QuoteI don't know anybody that became rich by spending. funny...i know alot of people who got rich by "taking a chance" and investing in themselves" Thats what the rhettoric is of Bush's tax cuts. "when people have money they spend money". When you give tax cuts to the top 2% of earners , those are the people by very nature are "accumulaters". Ummm...everyone got a tax cut, not just the rich. Liberals like to spin the numbers to make it look like they got more. Classic "Class Warfare" strategy that just doesn't work anymore. Giving business tax cuts over middle and lower class citizens is assinine. Lets give WalMart a 10 billion dollar tax cut to produce jobs. If every wal mart has 20 more employees, Im not going to shop there more, I doubt anybody else will either.Who's going to support those extra jobs with sustained sales? As opposed to 20 people not having a job? C'mon, you crucify W for job losses that he really has no control over and then find a way to kill him if it does create jobs. Try putting your umbrella away and seeing the sunshine. The job of the government is not to take care of you. That's your responsibility. You'd have us beleive that when I open the paper there isn't a classified section with job postings. There's jobs. Some good, some not. Want a better job, get a better education. The gov't will even give you money for that . Bottom line, it's never been the responsibility of gov't to supply jobs. The free market system and capitalism handles that part if the gov't doesnt get in the way. I could go on and on... Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  5. Supply-side economics doesn't work in the trickle-down model at all. It works two different ways: It allows people at all economic levels, and particularly at the top, to keep their own hard-earned money and use it as they see fit. That may mean spending it. It may mean saving it. It may mean investing it. In any of those three scenarios, the money brings more benefit to one and all than it does if the money is transferred to the government. If businesses and wealthy people keep more of their money, they are more inclined to invest it in businesses – hiring more employees, starting new enterprises, expanding operations. After all, it's the rich who tend to hire people. I don't know about you, but I've never been given a job by a poor person. The problem is the rank timing. Republican presidents usually inherit a Democrats f**ked up policies and are left to try and fix them. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  6. Another piece of old news conveniently timed to look like new. Clinton gave Haliburton no-bid contracts too because they're the only U.S. company equipped to do these jobs. Would you rather see France doing the work? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  7. As a veteran of almost 20 years in the car business doing everything from selling, f & i, and running a dealership I can tell you it's not as easy as it may seem. The hours absolutely suck. Do you have a family? The office politics at a big dealership is horrible. Most dealers will take any warm body they can put on the sales line because it costs them nothing. You need answers to these questions. 1. Is there an "up" system or is it any man for himself. What this means is are new customers to the dealership assigned to a particular salesman or are you just left to fend for yourself. If there isn't it means you'll spend mucho time standing waiting for the next customer who drives on the lot so you'll actually get a chance to talk to him. It feels a bit like being a hooker. Also, if there is no system you'll probably get "skated" by your fellow employees. I've seen it many times where a customer asks for you by name and the unscrupulous salesman says "he's not here right now but its ok, we all work together" 2. Pay plan: is there a base salary or is it a "draw" system where you are advanced a certain $ amount each week, or every other week. Have to remember that any pay you get will actually be deducted from any commissions you receive. I know many people in the business who made lots of money selling cars according to them. Having signed a few paychecks I can tell you that in order to be really good at selling cars you might not like who you have to become. 3. Quota: what happens when you don't make your quota? Many time the car you're given to drive can be revoked for not meeting quota. Remember, 12 sales doesn't seem like much but its roughtly 1 every other day. 4. Sounds as if they'll be starting you in the "credit challenged" area. You say someone with a beacon of 303 got "approved" for a loan. Big difference between being approved and actually getting a vehicle over the curb. Many credit challenged customers are approved with a down payment they can't possibly afford or don't have. Bottom line....lots of "approvals", very few actual sales. 5. Work atmosphere. I don't know if the winters are cold where you live but I can tell you that showing cars on a Thursday night when its 10 degrees outside is not fun. Your co-workers are by far the lowest form of pond scum you'll ever meet. Very few of them would be the type of person you'd want to spend any time without outside of work. Management can be extremely biased against you. Its the mentality of "what have you done for me lately". 6 Stigma: Q. Whats' the difference between a dead skunk in the road and a dead car salesman? A. There's skid marks in front of the skunk. Do what you want with this info. But I wanted you to take off the rose colored glasses and see reality. The guy whose job it is to recruit new sales people can make it seem very good on the surface. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  18. Wow...cracked ribs suck. I did that a few years back skiing and it took forever to heal. How bad is it? Mine kept waking me up when I'd roll over in my sleep. 21. Just finished up a fairly messy divorce...married 15 years...2 kids. X was having an affair with the guy she works for. Not sure how long it had been going on but I suspect well over a year. I wish I'd have known about it. I wish someone had clued me in. Seems I was the last one to know about it (although I had suspicions). Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  22. Last w/e the winds were marginal but jumpable. Made 1 jump before I decided it was too windy for my 26' LoPo. The spot put us just off the W end of the runway and if I'd have needed my reserve I would have been in the next county, not too mention prolly in some trees or power lines. So, its time to upgrade to a square reserve. I saw a couple of Raven 2 that were about 180's I think...but aren't these F111? I need some solid advice on what reserve to get. I'm jumping a Tri 190 loaded at 1.3. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  23. I think its more of a problem with the relatives of the deceased. Seems they're the ones who will sue with the "make sure this never happens to anyone else" mentality. Their loved one is gone, and someone must be responsible. Look at what's happening in Calgary right now (although I still think there's something strange about 2 FJ mals on one lift). As I see it the problem goes back to skydiving attempting to portray itself as a "mainstream" activity. We all know its not and never will be. Maybe we ought to make it seem as dangerous as possible then we could all make tons of money doing demos? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  24. A man was playing a round one day. He came up to a Par 3 where things had backed up a bit. There was a beautiful woman there. He introduced himself, they bantered back and forth, and he asked her if he could play in with her. She agreed. After the round he asked her if he could buy her a drink in the clubhouse. After a couple of drinks he asked her if he could buy her dinner. She replied "why don't we just go back to your place and I'll give you some head." Needless to say he readily agreed. The next day the same thing happened. They met on a Par 3, played out together, drinks, head. This goes on all week. Finally on Friday, after the drinks, they go to his place but this time he's got a different idea. He says "You know, I've really enjoyed this week, and you really give great head, but tonight I thought we could have intercourse." She leans in seductively and whispers in his ear, "There's something I have to tell you. I'm really a man." His face and neck turn beet red. He's obviously upset. She looks at him and says "You're upset because I'm a man aren't you." He looks her sternly in the eyes and says "No. I'm upset because you've been playing the red tees all week!"
