  11. I'm married to a whuffo! Does she support me? i think so right now. She's just afraid that im committing too much to getting my license. I work 6.5 days a week and manage 2 jumps every other week. I have a feeling that she also thinks this is going to go the way of past hobbies... Golf 3,000.00 in equipment. Bowling- about 700.00. Bass Fishing 2,000.00 in equipment not to mention a 25,000 dollar Bass boat that is sittin in the garage. But whats another 5 grand for a good rig?? lol. I find that skydiving is both andrenaline surging and relaxing at the same time. Anyone else feel the same way? Blue Ones KAI There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
  12. Case in Point. i think it was the 1984 olympics in which Greg Lougainis did a gainer off of what i think (i was only 12) was a 3m springboard, he cracked the board with his head. From what i remember about the medical reports the Dr. said that if he didnt have a swim cap on to absorb some of the impact he would have been dead! IMO frap hat or helmet both will offer some degree of protection against blunt force trauma. But why do i see skydivers goin up with no helmets at all?? 14. I drive by the exit for the DZ every day, twice a day. I'm always looking off the highway looking for snippets of canopies or a glimpse of the otter. When i look up at the skies i cant help but think "HELL YEAH, IVE BEEN THERE AND IM F***IN DYIN TO GET BACK" sounds corny but thats how i feel... 15. I didnt lose any friends, but thanks to this, ive gained alot of new ones. If youre ever in st. louis look me up (no pun intended) im gonna be at the DZ!!! One of the first things that i noticed is the camraderie between all of us. We are our own entity. And thats something that not a whole lot of people understand. I'd better stop now, wife is bitching about me skydiving again !! Blue Skies KAI There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan

I just wish i would have taken it up 10 years ago when i thought about it then.. Blue Skies KAI There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
  20. 120 jumps and its paid for?? did you get this rig from fingerhut? id rather use DZ rental gear that they would upgrade at some point. just my opinion There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan

  24. OK, heres input from a soon to be AFF student. I have made 2 tandem jumps and im going for a third on sunday. Its part of my program. Tandem 1: just a fun introduction to skydiving, learned about the aircraft, exit, and where the ripcord was. Tandem 2: Little more serious, Learned about altitude awareness, COA, perfect exit, and hand signals. (also learned how not to land, OUCH) Tandem 3: let you all know next week In my opinion this is the right program for ppl who are not quite sure if they want to get into the sport. ON my first jump, it was sensory overload, and i really didnt get a chance to enjoy the jump, on the 2nd i was alot more relaxed, and more inclined to learn because i had made my mind up that it was something that i wanted to do. Now i work 6 days a week, save change, and do everything that i can do to make sure that i can get up every other week. Thanks for all the info in the forums. I hope to be a member of this "community" for many years to come... KAI There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
  25. OK, maybe i can shed a little light on this. I am currently in the AFF program after doing 3 tandems. I have learned about the COA, Altitude Awareness, Canopy control, and more than enything else to RELAX. More students get discouraged because they cant relax. Also now that i know basically what to expect i feel that i will do well going through the AFF program. On my 3 tandems i was not just a passenger, i got grilled on alot of instruction that would be reserved for an AFF student. Does this give me an advantage?? I would think so.
