  1. Well. I've been selling gear for over 8 years now and have owned my Pro Shop (Gravity Gear) for over 4 years. I am well aware of market trends. In fact, I make it my business and my passion to do so. I try to find the perfect balance of fair market value for both the buyer and seller. By doing so, I usually end up with 2 more customers for life. I'm not saying that your numbers are wrong. They are probably spot on for your drop zone or region. When it comes to the used gear market, there is a lot of crap out there. "The perfect beginner rig." is one of my least favorites. Anyway, when there is good Modern Used gear available, it retains a certain value. And by the way, not everyone wants cut-in laterals and opt not to purchase the Odyssey. I still take orders for Javelins. And Sabres are still fine canopies. If they are lightly loaded the openings are good and they have a great flare. That hasn't changed. Not all consumers are "trendy". But the important safety features of modern containers including the newer Javelins retain a good value to the used gear customer. Okay. I'm done now. Back to work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  2. This girls gear has less than 100 jumps on it and is less than 3 years old. So your "Older Gear" comments should not apply here. A Javelin DOM 2001 with less than 100 jumps is worth well over $300 - $800. There is still a market for the ORIGINAL Sabre. I wouldn't call a canopy with less than 100 jumps on it an OLD CANOPY. I agree with your value on the Cypres. But the climate right now is good for Original Cypres Sales. There are no more available and the Cypres2 runs about $1,225.00. So $700 is fair to both buyer and seller. If you have any PD reserves 3 years or newer for sale for $500.00, I'll buy them all from you. A used PD reserve is worth around $700 in my neck of the woods. If you GOOD, MODERN used gear for the prices you are quoting, then PM me. I'll pull them into my store in a heartbeat. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  3. Rather than the Stiletto being replaced by the Katana, I think it is more like the Katana filled a gap between the Stiletto and the Velocity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  4. I can and do. Even up to $4,000.00 for good, modern used gear. Now that new gear ranges from $5K to $6K. I have some really nice used gear coming through my shop. Some folks buy new every year. I think my market might be a different climate than yours. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  5. In my neck of the woods you container would be valued at +/- $3,500.00. That is if the cypres is up to date. And if it is an original Sabre. If you want a breakdown, PM me and we can go over it in detail. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  6. Who is Carl. Someone post a pic. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  7. ONE TIME SALE ONLY! If you buy an altimeter, goggles and helmet from Gravity Gear, I'll throw in a Case of Beer.... ....good beer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  8. Snigg means cute. I don't know how to spell it either, but my husband is Swedish and our daughter is VERY Snigg. I guess someone thinks you are too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  9. It has a capacitor that needs to "drain" before you put in the new battery. That is my understanding anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  10. I have the Unisyn system on my container, and my husband chose just hip rings. I think my next rig will have just hip rings. There are a few pros and cons. Mine just moves a little too much over my shoulders so I have to wear my chest strap tighter than I would like to. Just a minor comfort issue. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  11. Mine was only stiff for the first 20 jumps or so. You need to just take your time. New gear takes a few jumps to break in. You seem to be on a VERY small canopy for your experience level. A couple of words of caution. While you are breaking in your gear, pull a little higher. Check your airspace and use caution stowing your slider. It will suck hard if you get half of your slider down and then pop the other toggle. You'll start spinning pretty good and your canopy will fly poorly with one toggle unstowed below the slider and the other above. Be safe and take it easy on the gear will ya? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  12. You may want to use a bit more caution than that. Spraying scotch guard on or around your cable housing and cables is not a good idea. Cordura is treated fabric and with your dark colors, I think you'll do fine without. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  13. Parapak shouldn't really need scotchguard. In fact I think it might just bead off. Don't leave it in the sun. Don't drag it when you pack. And of course, try not to scrub in too much. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  14. No, but I have a demo Pilot 210 you can TRY. Can you make it out to Cali? PM me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  15. So far Aerodyne has been maintaining a good schedule with all of the orders I have put through. Look forward to seeing your new canopy in about 8 weeks. And enjoy! You just bought yourself an awesome canopy! If you find yourself in California, come on by and jump our Demo Pilot 210. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  16. As a general rule... Don't offset with a bunch of black on one side. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  17. Woah! You are an airline pilot and you put a lock on your bag?!? That is one sure fire way to piss of TSA. There are signs everywhere that warn about locks on your baggage. By the way, do those guys still have the right to yank your license if they deem you a security threat? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  18. .5 variance is okay if you are not particularly broad shouldered and chested. You may want to take a chest measurement too and ask if the last measurement on the Mirage is a 0, +1, -1, +2, etc. That number refers to the yoke. If you are really broad shouldered and the yoke is a -1, the rig will be too tight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  19. For that size, I would pick a Pilot 210 or a Silhouette 210. What is your exit weight? It is a big factor in regards to opening and other flight charactoristics. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  20. I usually try to interview the customer and get an idea of colors and styles that appeal to them in particular. Then I try to make it a bit unique. In fact when someone comes in and asks for a jumpsuit just like "Johnnys", I say, "NO!, that's Johnnys, lets make one even cooler that is all you...." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  21. Every area of the country has a different perceived value. Some drop zones have certain prejudice that make the perceived value of an item change. In my market, I would value a used Tempo between $450.00 and $500.00. A used PD goes between $600.00 and $700.00 depending on DOM and # rides. A new one sells for $ 883.20 just about anywhere. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  22. I've surfed my husband like that. No really. I'm serious. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  23. Sitting on the rack more like. It was our previous DZOs rig. Jani Bango. He just hasn't been jumping, so decided to sell it before it became outdated. Figures he'll buy a new one when/if he starts jumping again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  24. You like your container like you like your jeans? A little on the tight side! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  25. If you need a tour guide, I can see if I can drum up one of the locals for you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
