  2. We have built a sub-site of the Badfish Freefly website in honor of Tommy Colaneri (who passed away as a result of injuries sustained from a landing accident). At the request of some of his family we are making a section of the site links to canopy safety articles/sites and I am looking for links. I have a link to Brian's site at BigAir Sportz - can anyone recommend other links please? The site can be seen at www.tommy.badfishfreefly.com thanks Pd Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?

    Goodbye Tommy

We released Tommy's ashes to the sky yesterday in a small ceremony with his awesome family. I would like to extend the thanks of everyone at Finger Lakes Skydivers, especially Team Badfish and myself to all those that sent condolences, sympathies and vibes. Your presence was felt yesterday. There is a write up on the site http://www.badfishfreefly.com/latestnews/goodbye_tommy.htm Sid Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?

  10. Terry - excellent post! Thought that this photo of a beauty that was on a rig I did yesterday might help a little Peter www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  11. I just posted a pictorial of the technique on the rigging section of my web site, maybe this will help. The technique is great, the finished product "cleaner" in appearance than a bar-tacked version in my opinion. http://www.sidsrigging.com/Articles/stitchless_fingertrap.htm Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  12. nice pictures - can I snag a couple for the badfish website album? Especially that one of Tommy - Dude that IS all the way........... Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  13. for all those that have helped with comments to Larry's requests, thank you! I inspected his rig last night and it's great (he needs a longer reserve ripcord, but that's on order). I gave him my Dolphin Manual (which Mike was kind enough to send me when I requested one a couple of years ago) to tide him over until his arrives. I packed it with the bottom and top flaps over the pilot chute (I always suggest to customers that they do that) and despite having a MONSTER reserve in there, the thing closed up purty!! Look forward to seeing you jump it Larry! www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  14. okay! ENOUGH! As the original Sid (of www.sid's rigging.com)www.sidsrigging.com I have to protest! In fact, I have to sue! Oh wait - no I don't - that's fucking hilarious, and that Sid looks just like me! Is he family? (my family tree doesn't have many branches) Love it Guys! Sid! 15. If they leave the main with the rig, after I re-connect it, I ALWAYS run it out, check it and re-pack it. If they ask me to check the trim or anything else I charge for that, but I always hook the main back up, pack it and close the rig up (I also tell them I won't be offended if they want to repack it themselves). I've heard some riggers say stuff about extra liability, BUT, if I'm confident enough to pack the reserve I'm sure as hell confident enough n my abilities to pack the main 2cents - no change (good thread Dawn!) 17. and that about sums it all up - very succinct J & D. I learned so much at the last PIA symposium I almost wish it had been twice as long so I could have attended all of the seminars. The day I think I can't learn anymore about rigging I'm selling the tools, hanging it up and opening that little shop on Hwy 17 in Florida (I'm going to call it "Shit for Sale"). pd www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  18. Andy - I don't mind at all and despite Larry's best intentions I just want to make it clear I NEVER drink stale beer, nor light beer, nor beer out of clear bottles, nor beer with fruit flavorings yada yada yada, just BEER! 19. Larry - read back through the thread - they're pirating me now! I think that makes me famous! Sid Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  20. Does anyone have information about a small outfit called Vertical Menace (other than an email address of that name that they never reply to) run by a Misty and/or Daniel Harmon? Located in Indiana. They advertise printed pull up cords on ebay sometimes. you can PM or email me thanks y'all PD www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  21. if you want to get pro-packing instructions - there's some on my site (let's not get into the pro vs flat pack people, I'm just offering an alternative and trying to plug my web site) http://www.sidsrigging.com/Articles/packing/packing_index.htm Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  22. a very good friend of mine once told a novice packer to "just shove it in there" and he didn't do a handle check before leaving the plane. He only noticed the hackey missing when he went to pull, she'd shoved it in there okay, all the way inside...... if you use a packer, it's a good policy to make sure that your pilot chute will move within the pouch as part of your pre-flight gear check.
