  1. I am currently on a break and enjoying it. I miss skydiving very much, but mentally I needed the break. I have been adventure racing and mountain biking but still look up to the sky and think about it. To those that know me...I am coming back soon.
  2. My name is Joe and I flew into a parked Otter. That's right. I came in on final and was so relaxed that I was partially in half brakes on a no wind morning and just kept floating and floating and floating. Fixated on the Otter and well what they say about fixation on objects is true, you fixate on it you hit it.
  3. Unfortunatly, I am a just wait till it looks good. I do to many sports and if I waited for my body to heal I would never be doing anything ever again.
  4. Sky's the Limit is having a 2 way league. There is a meeting this Saturday April 17 after the sunset load. You can check out the website for some info. http://skysthelimit.net
  5. All: I have heard a rumor that when someone gets their 100th jump that the stock in redi-whip goes up? Is this a true statement in the dropzone world?
  6. Dude it is all good. The first time I did my superman exit, my jumpmaster stepped out onto the video step...I got into the door...looked down...looked at him...then shook my head NO!...He screamed at me to jump. When I did finally jump....I was starring at the bright blue sky. Yes I was on my backwith my instructor above me just shaking his head. I rolled over and had fun...I couldn't wait to do that exit again.
  7. The same thing just happened but my packer gave me a lecture on closing loop length and possible malfunctions that could happen, like a horseshoe. He made the change while I was there and explained a lot. I also explained my side since I could never close my container and made the length just enough for me to barely get my pin in. He told me that I really need to be careful but he understood and he even left it a little longer. It was actually a great learning experience.
  8. Dude, I hear you. Before I took up skydiving I was a rock climber. Cimbed in NV, NH, TN, NY, NJ, but every now and again I would take a few months off and when I came back it was even better. There is nothing wrong with a little time off.
  9. I learned to pack during AFF. Packing was something that I really struggled with. I did my pack and jump but that was it. I was very scared because I just didn't get it. Just didn't understand what was going on. I spent extra time with a jumpmaster and he was the best. Gave me the confidence that I was looking for and showed me some key pointers to getting that thing in the bag. I am no expert but I get my gear packed in about 15 minutes.
  10. Ok...I have been biting my tongue but I now feel compelled to chime in since I am the one being discussed now. Yes I am the said partner that was just referenced. It was NOT an honest mistake and it was NOT the first time you did that to me let alone everyone else who was renting gear. I am not here to attack you in this post but it is very apparent that you do not have an understanding of your actions and how you treat other people. I was even there when you WERE rude and obnoxious to the packers and then yelled at Manifest on how the packers are not doing their job. The Office Manager in Manifest needed to raise her voice tell you to not speak to her staff in that tone and in that manner. Do you remember that? And just recently, a person who is actually waiting patiently for his gear decided to go home because of your attitude looking for rental gear, when you had your own gear sitting in your car and refused to jump it. I can go on and on about things that you have done to me. And things that I have approached you about. I can also go on and on about things that you have done to other people there as well that I have witnessed. You tend to have a real problem with dropzone ettiquette and the overall sense of family that is present at the DZ. With all that said, I will end this now and say that you can feel free to PM me if need be.
  11. Of course. But then again, I am current and had first jump jitters this past weekend. It was such a weird feeling. My heart was racing, my mouth was dry, and my hands were clamy. Other then that I was just fine. Heck...you are jumping out of plane. Shouldn't you be nervous?
  12. I got it thanks. I just did not look to much into the documents. I appreciate the quick response. Blue Skies Joe
  13. Sorry if this has already been asked but I didn't see anything right away. I am working with a partner to compete in a two way league this summer. Between the two of us we have under 250 jumps. I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find some rules and pictures of how things are scored. My DZ is having a meeting in a couple of weeks about it but I am impatient.
  14. All is good at Sky's the Limit. In fact the Super Otter arrives for this coming weekend. There are many great events planned. So if any of you are going to be in NJ this summer stop on by. http://skydive.skysthelimit.net Blue Skies
  15. I have been there too...I was doing my A Licence Check dive and at pull time I couldn't find my hackey. I did the same thing relaxed....reached back, I felt my leg strap and followed it up. Pulled and felt good. But my mind was already a step ahead. If it wasn't there that time silver it was going to be. My instructor who jumped with me for the dive complimented my reaction to the situation. Then he told me that my heart can relax now. :-)
  16. Just relax. I always thought that it would be a prblem for me but staying relaxed is key. I do and it helps me breathe. Well at least I think I am breathing. Not fully sure since I am still concentrating so much on turning a point and remembering my left turns from my right ones which I screw up regularly. :-)
  17. If Clevland is getting the Caravan then that means that STL will be flying an Otter soon. I also wanted to post here that there is another article in the General section titled Judge halts andover skydiving. STL has just confirmed that Skydiving will take place all weekend long and all season long.
  18. Flew back from Tampa in early Feb. I check my gearbag and just told them it was skydiving gear. They slapped a couple of fragile stickers on it and it was good to go. No problems with it.
  19. I have just over 70 jumps. I know how to pack, but I struggle and struggle bad. But I am determined. I feel helpless when I can't do something myself. I think I am starting to drive the instructors nuts. But for some reason I am just retarded when it comes to doing this. Granted, I even watch packers struggle with my rig so sometimes I don't feel so bad. :)
  20. Finally had a great weekend of jumping here in the Northeast. But towards the end of last year, there was a woman skydiver who obtained her C license before the September change and after taking over 30 jumps to get off of AFF (last year) and feels (believes) that she is all knowing in the skydiving world. She was in my opinion a reckless skydiver and has been talked to. Well yesterday a full caravan load was out and everyone was under canopy and I noticed this woman flying toward me with her head completely turned the other way and down flying toward the landing pattern and more importantly towards me. I banked a hard right and spiraled down a bit to clear the air. I figured that it might just look closer. Until I got to the ground and a guy that I jumped with said nice response that I had to reacting the oblivious canopy pilot. So my question is...this person is very difficult to talk to and thinks that she is the best of the best. How should I approach this. After a few issues last year and now this, I am at a point of not wanting to be in the air with her. The DZ is not full staffed yet so I am not sure what to do. The last time I spoke to her about an issue the response I got was and I quote: "How many jumps do you have? I have more then you so until you get to these numbers you don't have a right to criticize." That attitude pisses me off. Help!!! Thanks in advance.
  21. I love a solo jumps. Just the feel of getting out of a plane and being under canopy is great. I also like to pull higher at sunset loads to enjoy the sun setting over the mountains in the distance.
  22. Maybe that is his fear. He will love it so much and quit drag racing. I actually got a friend of mine to jump who was a wuss. We went on a sling shot ride and he loved it. I told him if he loved that he would love skydiving. He did his tandem last year and said that was enough. He understood my obsession but the adrenalin high was to much for him. And that was his words not mine.
  23. I flew out of Tampa about a week and a half ago. I checked my rig in my gear bag and only left my helmet and jumpsuit in the bag. I had no problems. I even told the woman that it was a skydiving rig and to get me if there were any issues. She visually inspected the bag and said that she didn't see any issues. No problems at all.
