  1. Ummm.... yeah... try again. oops
  2. Actually, you should all know that Dave doesn't run the hardware, he manages the software. I run the hardware and it took longer than I had on Friday to copy the data over. So... the copying went on all weekend. I was busy on Monday & Tuesday, so it didn't get finished then. I had a couple spare cycles and finished copying some of the config stuff over now and guess what? WWW.SKYDIVINGMOVIES.COM is back in business with a shiny new 750g drive! weeee, go eat up my bandwidth, I dare you :p
  3. The data copy is taking a lot longer than I expected. It is in process though. I hope to have it all finished by the time I leave work.
  4. Mr. FedEx just dropped off the drive (Seagate Barracuda NS 750GB SATA). I'm going to shut the site down now I need to: Yank the server out of the rack Yank the old drive Install the new drive Install a new OS, might as well upgrade in the process right? Connect the old drive Copy all the data over (200+Gigs) Button it all back up Throw it back into the rack Let dave have a look to make sure I didn't miss anything Should be back up in a couple hours
  5. You should contact your states game & wildlife department and ask them when you should do. If it truly is endangered they would probably want to remove it from the hazardous conditions in your attic. You do have lots of Decon in your attic right? The birds could eat that which is bad. The state should come rescue the birds ASAP. If it isn't endangered then get a pot of water boiling and have woodpecker stew
  6. My plate says 'INTRNT' because I'm an Internet Geek. My Brother has 'EMAIL'
  7. When grilling, always put the 'presentation side' on the grill first, cook that until it looks good, then flip and cook until done. For skin on salmon, rub grill and fish with olive oil, heat grill to hottest setting, put fish on grill then turn grill to low setting. I like to cut my fish into serving sized strips (about 2"). It is easy to see the fish cook its way up the side. about 5-7 minutes or so it should be a nice golden brown. Olive oil up the skin and flip for another couple of minutes. Use a big vented spatula to flip the fish get it off the grill. If you oil it up enough it won't stick too bad. I like to serve the fish, skin side down (presentation side up). The skin peels off easy enough when you eat it. I cook my salmon 'pure', not seasoning at all. After it is cooked I add seasoned butter on it Seasoned butter is: 1 Stick of soft butter 2 Tbs Crushed Fennel Seed 2 Tbs of chopped fresh Tarragon 2 Tbs of Lemon juice 2 Tbs of Lemon Zest Salt & Pepper Mix all ingredients together, then put a spoonful on top of the fish as it comes off the grill and let it melt in. Best fish ever!
  8. Increase your tire size by 50% and you should turn a 1.4 mile trip into a 1 mile odometer reading. Not sure if you can fit them under the fenders but that is your problem :p
  9. Congratz! My wife just finished 2 years of night school, and a year before that was getting all of the prereqs out of the way. It was a TON of work for her, way more than she ever expected. It is all over now, she just needs to schedule her NCLEX exam. Good luck!
  10. you want this http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/uploads/icarus_extreme_team__out_of_the_blue_trailer.mpeg You'll need to buy the DVD in order to see the whole thing.
  11. Yep, I sold my Mirage G3 last fall. I didn't jump all last year, I kept it in the closet always hoping to go again but it isn't a reality for me now. Maybe when my kids are older, I have more time & more money. I dunno, I miss it, but I can live without it. Basically, I didn't have enough time to jump enough to feel safe and current.
  12. Skychimp, Thanks for the post, and the donation. I don't manage the website, Pilotdave does that. I simply provide the machine (which was purchased with donations last year) and the bandwidth. Right now SDM is using 10mbps of bandwidth, sustained on my network. That is roughly $1000/month in bandwidth from my upstreams. That doesn't include the cost of my infrastructure (Cisco 12000 routers, 6509 switches). The site itself takes very little of my time to manage. I occasionally have to kick it but it has been stable the past few months. I currently have 135mbps of bandwidth @ $100/mb. In 120 days I'll have 2 Gbps @$35/mb. I'm currently policing the traffic at 10mbps, once I get my cheaper bandwidth I'll open up the flood gates and let the site use 30mbps. Donations help alot, they don't come close to paying for the service but they do let me know you value the service and want to see it continue. Also, I don't skydive anymore, I stopped jumping 2 years ago when my daughter was born. I still look to the sky and I miss it, someday I may return.
  13. I don't manage the website, I just provide the machine, power and bandwidth for it to operate (i.e. the expensive bits). I don't control the upload/download sections. I just notice when the bandwidth usage spikes and I have to throw the policer on it. There is a lot that goes into supporting the site, hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment. Granted it isn't all for SDM and I would still need the equipment even if SDM wasn't here but it does increase the load on my network and take service away from paying customers when it is abused. A little bit of respect is all I ask NOTE: There is no sex/porn in the video. If you are downloading it to see Nicole naked, don't bother.
  14. 727 downloads so far that is roughly 44 Gigabytes of data transferred on my network from a free service. This one video is averaging about 10mbps of traffic, that is $1k worth of bandwidth. Thanks. At least you can do is push the donate button. Why didn't you host this on http://www.nicolesheridan.com/?
  15. Don't forget the '6 stripe' field. Did my AFF at the Ranch, aaah, those were the days...

I own a Mac already, OS X 10.4 (PowerBook G4). I have yet to find a good way to run Visio. Some of my software just will not run under Mac, Virtual PC (Win XP). I'm hopeing I can get VMWare Workstation for my new Intel MacBook Pro and run XP. The PPC-> Intel Emulation is sllloooowwwww World of Warcraft works great on my Mac, don't need much else :p (Carriun on Aggramar/Alliance)

    New Laptop

Digital Photos, iPod, Internet? Get a new MacBook Pro. runs Intel, OS X and will eventually run windows apps. really nice laptop. I have a PowerBook G4 that I love, have a MacBook Pro on order (shipping in Feb). iPhoto is a great photo management package and it is FREE
  18. Howdie, I know SDM has had a lot of issues over the past couple weeks. I've been wiped out by a family wide plague 'I'm not dead yet!'. Anyway, I just upgraded the server to a newer linux distro which will hopefully fix the crashing issues. It will hopefully be more stable moving forward. I will have to bounce the server a couple times today to get the new kernels installed. -Matt
  19. Assuming you have some sort of broadband connection you could pick up a nice firewall (www.sonicwall.com). A firewall can enforce a bunch of stuff, like limited online times. shut down Instant Messaging, provide content filtering for web/e-mail. I would avoid the snooping route but you can safely protect what she does online with technology. She can probably IM through her cell phone also so you may want to restrict that. My 17 y.o. cousin can type pretty fast with her thumbs on her cell phone. A stand alone firewall is a good choice because you can protect it and make sure she doesn't bypass it like a software only firewall running on her machine.
  20. For the record, I don't have a filter to your mail. I didn't get the first mail you sent a couple days ago. Spam filter musta ate it. And, although I run a mac. I would never be stupid enough to run a websever on a Mac. Skydivingmovies.com is Intel running Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP. Dedicated hardware and all that. It just barfed and needed a power cycle. Anyway, it is back up and running as of about an hour ago (didn't want to tell anyone so I can download the newest movies first) -Matt
  21. My son when he was 3 got a superman cape from grandma for xmas. He proceeded to jump off the 4th step with it on. After slamming off the door at the bottom of the stairs he got up and said 'Hrm, must have run out of gas' I bought a mini-backpack which looked a lot like my Mirage G3. I just caught him before he jumped of the stairs, wearing the backpack which was packed with a towel. I'm not sure what his wingloading would have been.
  22. Yeah, a lover named bubba living in the next cell of your new pound you in the ass prison home.
  23. Tip 1: Paintballs are SLOW. Your best bet is to run at your opponent in a zig-zag pattern. They will have a hard time figuring out how much to lead you. They will also probably be standing still while they try to hit you. You move, they stand still, you shoot the crap out of them. Tip 2: I bet they will have a LOT of armor on the front of their bodies, 3 or 4 well aimed paintballs into their calf will slow them down in the next rounds.
