    1600 ft.

The exit point is better and it is a little bit higher, +400ft maybe even close to 500ft more. Never measured it my self but it is higher. I'm not that tough ... but my team mates is use to me complaining about hard openings ;) I will come over to UK again next year, hope that we can hook up and share a few exit points and for sure have a pint or three ... Have fun playing! PerFlare Team Bautasten

Craig, I'm happy that you are okay. Two things, why did you choose that exitpoint for your fist low wingsuit jump, there are better ones on the other side? And please do not flare a big wingsuit (I do not recommend it even on classics and GTI's either) prior to pulling. Especially not with singelshot rigs at low altitude. Have fun! 3. Fantastic! Good job Yuri. I will be down there soon (20-26 Sept). Will there be someone there who knows the way up? PerFlare Team Bautasten

    BASE CRW Video

I do agree, it takes balls to really enjoy CRW with single shot rigs ... I wounder how big the balls was on the two guys who had a wrap and spiraled to the ground in Italy this year. That was the resoult of a canopy kollision but a wrap is a wrap. And, base CRW have been done for years.
  8. Well in my opinion, take your wingsuit to a DZ and practice. If you can't fly straight or without stalling you need to practice more. As stated before, It is pretty much the same difference between vTec and Standard as in regular jumping. So the things you are talking about, strikes, unstable exits and pulling ultra low ... well yes, vents do help. PerFlare Team Bautasten
  9. I agree with Yuri. I would say that the openings are close to terminal. And if you fly maximum and pull in full flight you are not only in terminal your opening are quite similar to pulling in headdown. Your body will been thrown around 180 degrees and it will be quite easy to induce a linetwist with your body, especially if you have a hard opening. I would strongly advice people to not flare the suit prior to pulling the PC. The burbule behind the suit will be large and flaring prior to pulling will increase the burbule and can make your PC hesitate or get in the turbulence behind your back. Jumping a wingsuit with a slider down rig ... well in my opinion. That is a bad idea, and I would not recommend anyone to try it regardless of the size of balls or ego. Vented canopys rules, but for bigwall jumping for good trackers and wingsuit flyers you do not need it. Allot of bigwalls need "glide" more than a fast opening canopy. PerFlare Team Bautasten
  10. Motherhucker, It is pretty much the same difference between vTec and Standard as in regular jumping. It's a little bit faster and harder. So it's important to have a heading and keep that through your deployment. PerFlare Team Bautasten

  13. For your amusement Tom :) No shit there I was ... in France solo jumping in Magland. On the day of my departure I followed the recommendation from a friend, Tom Aiello, to go to the pub "St. Jacques" and order a Giraffe. The conversation between me and the bartender goes something like this. Me: Hi, do you have something called a Giraffe? Bartender: Yes Me: I like to have one please. Bartender: ehh ... are you alone? Me: Yes Bartender: Are you sure about the Giraffe? Me: Yes, don't worry I'm a Swede. Bartender: okay The bartender pulls up the Giraffe and starts to fill it up ... Me (thinking): * the F-word but in Swedish* Bartender: There you go Me: Thanks! Me again: Can you check on my bag because I better buy the train ticket before I start on that Bartender: Sure Me: Thanks Do not have time to enjoy the Giraffe but I manage to drink it in a very short time span so I can catch the train to Interlaken :) The rest of the day are a little bit blurry but I'm sure about some things, I had more beers in my backpack ... they was not there when I arrived in Interlaken. I have a short episode on my video camera of me drinking with a girl on something that appears to be a train :) Thanks Tom for you good advice ;) PerFlare a Giraffe man
  14. Thanks to everybody who helped Team Bautasten on the trip. We had an amazing trip. I'd especially like to thank Remý Voog, Tommy Jamar, the three Aussies and the Hungarian crew for helping us out with exits and the logistics around cliff jumping. I hope to be able to repay the favors. Thanks again! PerFlare Member Team Bautasten
  15. Thanks, It was fun to meet you :) Hope to see you there next year. Have fun! PerFlare
  16. Faber, No haven't heard from that event and now I'm going to Europe for two weeks of jumping :) PerFlare
  17. No shit there I was ... Attended my third Heli boogie at Kjerag a week ago and I just like to say thanks to the hard working Norwegian's in Stavanger BASE Club. The boogie was great and people did more jumps in two days then you usually do in two weeks :) We made allot of jumps and had no accidents. Well done! Thanks again! PerFlare Member Team Bautasten

    My First BASE Rig

Thanks Dwain and Tom for making the effort to answer questions and trying to make basejumping safer for all of us. I agree with Dwain that you should mention you experience level so people know on what you are basing your opinion on. My opinion are based on just two 245 FOX vTec canopies and I have about 400 jumps on 245 FOX vTec canopies. Did only 30 jumps on one of them and the rest of the jumps are on the other. My vTec FOX (pretty old and not retrofitted with covers ... yet) with a multi. I do agree with the fact that the canopy opens faster with the multi and that if you are jumping low objects or are pulling very, very low it may make a difference. But I have removed my multi because my off-heading frequency increased using it. Not only did my off-heading rate go up but the off-headings was more violent especially if it was around 90-120 degrees off-heading. It was not unusual for me to have to push against the raisers to prevent my body to induce a linetwist. The problem with this are that it takes time, time that are better spent correcting your heading then pushing on your raisers. Please forgive my poor English. But I still think most of you prefer bad English over Swedish ;) PerFlare Member Team Bautasten
  19. Craig, Yes it is easier to just route the whole shrivel flap under your rig and it works fine. but if you make allot of jumps with the suit the male velcro are wearing on your harness. It is not a big deal but personally I rather have that little extra work to customize the system in the beginning. PerFlare Member Team Bautasten
  20. Craig, Maybe I do not understand you as my English is not ... well perfect :) You need to stich the shrivel flap to you bridle for it to work. So I do not understand how you can possibly take it on and off without much work. About the length of the sheet ... you just cut it so it fits you and your rig. If you have a big rig you may have to make sure that the velcro (that's goes under your rig) does not wear on your harness and then you can simply take some "female" velcro and put it on the part of the velcro that goes under your rig. In other word you do not need to use the full length of the velcro on the suit. If you do you may feel that the routing of the bridle looks weird. PerFlare Member Team Bautasten
  21. Kevin, The PC pouch has been jumped for quite a while both with skydive rigs and with single shot rigs. If you are a tall person you will benefit more then if you are a short person. Team Bautasten has hundreds of jumps with this system and it works well The shrivel flap is a good idea. Now to the serious part, especially if you are jumping single shot rigs. Practice and practice and practice and focus on the fact that your PC is located in a different place. When you are in trouble and scared and you need to slow things down it is a good idea to find your PC :) Have fun! PerFlare Member Team Bautasten
  22. Quite a few :) I fly wingsuits all the time. Some skydivers are freeflyers or formations skydivers who owns a wingsuit ... I'm a wingsuit skydiver who owns ... well tracking pantz ;)) Have Fun! PerFlare Member Team Bautasten

    ???? Jumping

Rduch, This is a answer for the third post in this thread … BASE jumping is not about rules … and not about breaking existing rules either … most of us just like to jump, and when you jump some (please forgive me for my bad English, I’m a Swede and English are not my mother language) “best practice” are in order, one of them are not to talk about sites in public. Whit public I mean, talk with skydivers and telling them about sites. I do believe that if you really like to BASE jump … so fine, get you self a mentor and learn from him/her. Usually it takes some work to get a base jumper to invest all the time and the effort to help you getting in to the world of base jumping … but when you are in you get to met great people. And sometimes even grand people. We play a game, the stakes in this game are our lives … it’s like rolling the dice, and as you and I know the house always wins … and sometimes when one of your brothers pay the ultimate price you think of what you can have done to make base jumping a safer place … one thing among others are not to mention sites … I do have the privilege of meeting both Tom and Dd0g (who post allot in this forum) and I have allot of respect for both of them, I think of them like their was my brothers. Please take their advice … please … I can’t tell you what to do … but I can ask you to please reconsider PerFlare
  24. Hi, Yes it was me who managed to almost get my self killed there, fortunately I did turn my camera on so I could please my brother and sisters with the footage ;) It scared the crap out of me but it was quite a ground rush, at least when you consider that I was using skydiving gear ;) On a serious note. Me, and especially my mother, was pleased to see that reservride come out okay. I do hope nobody are jumping those wingsuits without the modification made after this ... well ... incident. SeeYa PerFlare
  25. Here we go :) I did register ... so now I can spend even more time on the www instead of jumping. I just like to emphasize this. I have one of the early Prism. It came with this configuration (with a long velcro stripe along the side). On my third jump I did go head down and had quite a hesitation as a result. No big deal when you go slider down and take one second delay from 250m ;) but anyway. You do really need to be careful with a Prism with this configuration. If you have one or are buying a Prism and intend to use it for sub terminal jumping I recommend you to get the rig updated. But as always, who am I to tell you what to do ... or not to do. And Tom, thanks for putting in all the work to manage this forum. SeeYa PerFlare Please forgive my English. It is not my first language.
