  1. You could do the exact same thing with the secondary motor burning fuel.
  2. I misunderstood. He's not saying that--he's saying unfavorable torque effects of the critical engine can be eliminated. e: or I guess it would be mostly the slipstream effects. But, all of the adverse yaw effects apart from asymmetrical thrust
  3. Why are you convinced this will be more efficient? You're going to burn through that 5 minutes before you're done with your initial climb out and then it's dead weight. Forget about climbing to your cruise altitude or the ability to go-around at your destination. Is it even usual for a twin to cruise at 50% or less power?
  4. Yet it's been done, and a commercially-viable hybrid electric hasn't. Would the latter not also be a real PITA? Pretty ironic that you criticize the need for two different engines, but then your solution involves multiple engines that are orders of magnitude more different from each other.
  5. I'd like to know why you're convinced these things are true. I'm not convinced they aren't, but I'm highly skeptical, and it really seems hypothetical on your part.

IDK, I had about 24 oz or so of high gravity beer which is mostly water and I didn't feel so great.

i thought we were just riffing off trumpisms
  8. We already have jet aircraft with all the engines in the back. When I say advantages are less obvious and more speculative, I'm not suggesting there wouldn't be any, just that you'd have to look really close to determine if they outweigh the costs. The costs seem much more obvious.
  9. I think a membership campaign would be a good idea. I would want to fix the technical glitches first though--it can't be going offline on a daily basis.
  10. Don't give up dude, once you master Katana openings you'll be able to handle anything! 29 Navigator 240 @ 0.9 2 Safire2 209 @ 1.0 56 Triathlon 190 @ 1.15 70 Triathlon 190 @ 0.95 2 Sabre2 190 @ 0.95 12 Pulse 170 @ 0.95 7 Sabre2 170 @ 1.05 25 Echo 150 @ 1.2-1.3 80 Katana 150 @ 1.2-1.3 Moving to a Katana 135 next month when I get my new rig together.
  11. Wow, this is disappointing. If you want a healthy membership, this attitude won't get you one or help you maintain it.
  12. I see this complaint a lot, but I never see anyone explain why it's a bad thing. If we don't want to give people bragging rights, should we stop holding competitions?
  13. Hybrid would be a huge advantage for intracity VTOL transport where noise is the limiting factor, by allowing slower, higher torque blades. Outside of that specific application, the advantages are less obvious and more speculative.
  14. I don't get it. Unless you jettison the batteries after takeoff, I'm lost to the advantages. Yes, you have a smaller generator... But now you're back to heavy batteries.
  15. Exactly. And what I would add from what I've heard from the education PhDs is that there's a difference between putting a student in an adverse situation and having the student put himself there through practice of incorrect actions.
  16. I think it should be obvious that something is broken here, and it has absolutely nothing to do with how many are using the site or how they are using it.
  17. Happy to continue the discussion with anyone else who's interested in being civil and actually putting thought in.
  18. That's just another result of not many people being here. It looks like a dead, abandoned forum because it is.
  19. 25 deployments, check. 40 repacks, check. Do you have a reference for 20 years?

    covid-19

I'm 24 hours out from my second dose of Pfizer/BioNTech. I didn't sleep well and I might feel slightly yucky, but very slight. My arm is definitely more sore than after the first.
