  1. Not on my first, but I now have 16 tandem chops.............. Did you go buy your beer ????? If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  2. Just a few weeks ago moved into an apartment and last night we were trying to waltch a movie and the kids in the complex stomp up and down the stairs atleast 15 times a night and go out the front door and let it SLAM SHUT!!!!! the girl across the hall put a note on the door but it still continued to slam, so we went outside and sat down and as the door came flying open and the kid comes out... I really nicely explained to him how it was to live in that apartment with the stomping and slamming of the door and asked him not to let it slam..... Problem fixed, he also told all his buddies
  3. Having not known when the girl got her "A" license, one of the requirements to get your "A" license is to "Demonstrate the understanding, use, and disconnection of a reserve static line"????? 4. Thanks for posting the great photo's. I was lucky enough to make a jump with Robin and Pudd at the WFFC out of the super conie and I got to give Pudd a kiss pass
  5. I was wondering, at the dropzone where you teach. Do you use ripcord and SOS or pilot chute and 2 handle system? Also, what are your opinions on the diffrent systems.? If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  6. The DZ where I jump, all the tandem master carry hook knifes with them. good thing because one gal was jumping with pig tails and on deployment her hair got caught in the three rings and got stuck . The only thing the TM could do was cut her pig tail off to relieve the pain of her hair being pulled. I've seen girls with long hair put it up in a silk swimming cap looking hat. For me...... my hair is stuck at one length and doesn't tend to get past my shoulders due to split ends and getting hair cuts to keep it healthy. If God wanted man to stay on the ground. 7. I teach at a dropzone where the corn is now towering at 8-10 ft tall and I was wondering, what do other teach or suggest to teach the students about landing in the corn if they can't avoid it???? 10. Hey Maxx, I have been trying to learn to sit fly in the tunnel and I have spent probally 40 minutes or so. I'm learning more and more each time I enter the tunnel. although the last time I went, one of the tunnel instructors whom was not even in the tunnel chamber with me, just watching from a distance gave me some much needed advice. He told me even though I am still on the net, doesn't mean I'm not flying. I spent a whole lot of time going "boing...boing...boing..." off the net. and I thought why can't I stay up...very fusterating. any how, just learn to sit on the net stable and feel the air flow in the right body position and when the time comes you'll lift off. Now, I'm no tunnel instructor but it made alot of sense when they told me that.... Also, be prepared for some REALLY SORE upper body muscles. I can sit fly pretty good in freefall but we don't have wall up there. good luck with it If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  11. hhmmmm, the syllabus isn't right???? Well, the "syllabus" say's right there in black and white in SIMs section 4-3 E that you need to teach PLF's. I highly doubt thats wrong. I hate to think if you ever had a student that couldn't understand things, you'd let them jump. And you can continue to have your opions about instructors, however, I'll continue to make my judgement call as a instructor. I've had students that I suggest tandems as first jumps to in the past, and I'm sure I'll have them in the furture. I don't think that makes me a bad instructor, I think it takes a good instructor to be able to spot a student like that. If God wanted man to stay on the ground. 12. I have to disagree with you there. sure they will probally be alright in freefall because the instructors are there, but once they pull...they're on there own..no matter how well you taught them, every decision they make is there own. I've had a time when the student could not get the emergency procedures right, they kept wanting to fire reserve into malfunctions. Also had times when student kept getting left and right wrong. "When stress happens in real life they may or may not react correctly..." We are not riding bicycles or snow skiing/boarding, we are jumping out of airplanes high above the ground and us as instructors need to be able to make the decision weather or not our students are ready and competant because if they don't react correctly it could mean the difference between life or death. 13. eeewwwww....That's just wrong...not a good choice If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  14. I think that if I was ever giving the opt. to work at such a place, I think I'd step in and voice my concern and if unsafe, chose not to jump. Besides the students don't know any better, they look to us as the professionals. We've had them show up at the DZ with the winds howling at 40+ on the ground and they don't understand why they can't jump, its crystal blue skies. If God wanted man to stay on the ground. 15. It took a little while for me to get it. I've had a lot of fun in the tunnel. though I don't really do a lot of "fun jumping" I seem to find myself in the tunnel more often than fun jumping. but it will "click" just having to learn the way the air is flowing. keep working on it If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  16. I really don't think that just because he is a "new" instructor he should have a finger pointed at him. There can be sometimes that even an old AFF I with three radios, a good spot and opening up at the correct altitude you can have a student land off the drop zone. Thats why us as first jump instructors take the time to instruct our students what to do if they have a off drop zone landing. We can tell students to fly back towards the DZ after they open, but what if they have line twist and can't face in the right direction, or the uppers picked up and they can't make it. Things for us to keep in mind is that if we teach in a place that does have very tall corn or sugar canes remember to tell them how to find there way out, and tell them try not to take rides from someone other than a person from the DZ because we need to know someone didn't run off with you, and make sure they have the DZ number on the student helmets from a bumper sticker. 17. I'm going to miss you Erich. Life is so precious! I am so lucky to have you for a friend and you will forever be in my memories and heart. You were a great friend who always was happy, and you sent that good energy to everyone that was around you. I send my very deepest condolences to your family, Especially your wife and lil' Max man. See you again some day, until then. Scooter.... "aka" Sergeant Sunshine If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  18. I have to agree with the tandem master should loose there rating if they have a tandem cypress fire and they were conscious. If God wanted man to stay on the ground. He would of put roots on them instead of feet. loving life GO-N-UP
  19. I used to wear a full face helmet, but I now just wear a hard helmet. but I've also seen how much a big smilecan help a student relax. I too have been clocked in the jaw and learned that I need to watch because you never know what the students are gonna do. I have also made it my rule that I will never jump without a cypress on AFF jumps, or jumps with more than just myself because that one jump with out it could be the one you need it on. 21. One of my favorites that I hear my fellow TM say is after they are all hooked up and the door is open they hand them a hand to shake and say "Well it's you and me against the world...hopefully not literaly" If God wanted man to stay on the ground. 23. Ya'know, I always told myself that if I dreaded going to work because I didn't like my job I would find something eles to do because there are so many jobs out there and you spend alot of time at work, why not love your job. so I quit a fairly decent job with good pay and benifits and started doing something that I really LOVE all though I can't so this job for the rest of my life I'm getting ready to go back to school to study another passion of mine so when I have to stop my current job I'll have another

  25. this is a pretty cool thing to check out, be sure if you have volume on your pc to turn it up. don't give up it took me a while too. Subject: This is Spooky--Just in Time for Halloween This is interesting because it is about about a house in thehistoric district near the U. Read the story below before you go to the link. Apparently the owners of the house had been seeing images and hearingvoices for quite a while. They did some research and discovered that a woman once lived in the house who lost her husband during a war with nativeAmericans. Legend says that she used to sit at the table near the window and look across the fields in anticipation of her loved one returning home. He neverreturned. They caught this photo (using digital imaging and sound) of what they say is the ghost of the woman. This is wild and a little spooky once you find the ghost in the picture. It took me about 30 seconds to find it, but when you do, it stands out, like an optical illusion. To save you some time, concentrate around the table and towardsthe window. Also, if you have volume, turn it up as you can hear some faint murmurings which they say is the ghost talking--very interesting...keep looking and listening you'll discover it. Go to this link and check out the picture. http://home.comcast.net/~n9ivo/whatswrong.swf http://home.comcast.net/~n9ivo/whatswrong.swf I'm not sure how to make it where you can just click on it so write it down and go see.
