  1. Michele: YOU ROCK!!!! I'm *so* happy for you!! You did it!!!!
  2. I hate to sound like somebody's mom here, but I'm gonna say it anyway: Go for the education! If you have a good job in a couple of years, making lotsa $$$, you can still jump your ass off!
  3. I don't have a tattoo, and whenever I think 'those tribal tattoos look really cool' all I need to do is remind myself of what it will look like in say twenty years..... Let's just say that some tattoos look really good......on other people! (Yeah, I'm a wimp)
  4. How many posts before you get 'Head Honcho' ?
  5. Nice pictures! I really like falling through industrial haze, for like 1000 ft. or something, although at one occasion it almost scared the sh*t out of me: I was waving off while I approached aforementioned 'haze', and I saw what I thought was another skydiver waving off almost exactly below me......I was really relieved when I realised it was my own shadow! When under canopy I flew through some wispy industrial haze once, which was really awesome as well!
  6. That is so unbelievably cool!! Have fun! (As if you wouldn't..........)

    boobies

That is a really nice backside! Love the packaging too! Do share the other pics!
  8. I know what you mean about needing to vent to people that understand!! I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing people got their (A,B,C,D) license! Congratulations
  9. I think Dutchboy is also a candidate!
  10. Although lots of people downsize before they get their A-license, I've been jumping a manta (280 sq. ft., loaded at approx. 0.75) until I had my license...I've only made one jump on a merit 210 so far, which was almost as exciting as my first ever skydive....I think it's like comparing a garbage truck to a sportscar. Are Dutch DZ's being overly cautious or is your DZ very progressive??
  11. I'm 6'2" just like you, and my favorite (home) DZ also has a Cessna (Grand) Caravan. On one of my solo jumps a video-guy for a tandem happened to catch my exit, and somehow I made onto the tandem video. When the tandem video was being shown, one of the J/Ms pointed out to me that I hit the floating handle with the top of my rig as well! Fortunately nothing happened, but it made me very aware of the fact that I do need to bend down on a dive exit! I'm glad no-one got hurt on your incident!
  12. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you will get well soon!!!!
  13. If I counted right, I'd have to fifth that BIG DEAL!!!!! (Not talking about amendments or volumes here I'm sure lots and lots of people would love to skydive but they're just too scared to take that first step!! Congratulations!!!
  14. ROTFLMAO!!!!!! Btw: My colleagues are now totally convinced that I'm a nutcase.....Good for them!
  15. Great story Slappie! Very well done! Do you jump 190 sq. ft. chutes during AFF??? Keep up the good work!
  16. Hey Bill, As lots of people already said: Thanks for posting those great stories!
  17. OK, I guess I didn't think about it that way, you're right that a 'simple' reserve ride is much more likely than 2 out. Thanks for clearing this up for me!
  18. Well, at least with a bike you don't have the problem of the steering wheel being on the 'wrong' side of the vehicle! I tried cycling in a biggish city in the UK once, and I felt more scared than when I'm skydiving!!
  19. Hey Sangiro, Could you PM me the IP address comparisons?
  20. Great pictures! I'm gonna have to talk my girlfriend into a honeymoon on Hawaii now....
  21. I'm not trying to criticize you, but I thought that main and reserve should be about the same size (or the same loading), I think it was related to a 'two-squares out' situation. Can somebody enlighten me on this, or should this go to safety&training or gear forums?

    Landing Out?

That's why I try to remember to look at the sun before boarding and where the sun should be when I try to land! Turned out to be very useful when I landed about 2km from the DZ! Very funny to see the guy that jumped before me trying to land in 7ft corn!
  23. Same here! The amount of time I spend on here seems to be proportional to the weather, which has been very good the last couple of weeks...
  24. Granted, playing with the different winds at different altitudes they can do a lot! I was trying to say that people seem to think that you can steer a balloon. To illustrate that many people haven't really thought about the concept of a balloon: I've had several people ask me how much wind there is when you're in the balloon.
