  1. HaahhaaahahhhaahAHAAHAAAHAAAAA . . . . Best post of the whole thread. To the OP. . . . Breathe, relax, smile. Take the class. Practice what they teach. Enjoy.
  2. Kapowsin air sports. Come on up. You ain't got the skill to take me down...
  3. Dirty rotten mf-ing low puller! How the hell ya been? Good to see you back. A season or two ago I actually did do a level 1 with a student who, unknown to me, had about 1000 jumps, including tandem rating, but had been out of the sport for almost 20 years. He did a HELL of a lot better than you, Nippley!
  4. I've heard that hippos, big water loving animals that eat only plants, are the most dangerous animals to man in Africa.
  5. Doesn't anyone wear a jock anymore? That might have kept him in the game. . . You mean he should have been wearing a "pole" "vault" ?? Perfect pun!
  6. While is has been 20-25 yrs ago, they did pull Ted Mayfield's 'certification.' Jerry Baumchen HE was a group member? OMG! BTW, that DZ was in my airspace. Not once did I ever get called for traffic advisories prior to jumps. I've got a story about that.
  7. Umm, are you sure you know what a tailwind is? It's the same as flying your parachute downwind. You're going faster across the ground, but you're still moving forward through the air. You ain't flying in reverse. A bit of a possibility, yep. One of my pet safety peeves. After opening, your spot is less important than "Where's the next conflicting freefall group?" Absolutely. Premature openings, hard pulls, malfunctions, distracted jumpers; all make vertical separation unreliable. Longitudinal and lateral separation are the only ones you can count on, and that's only if people work together to make it happen.
  8. Just yell "Sorry about your penis!"
  9. Doesn't anyone wear a jock anymore? That might have kept him in the game. . .
  10. I'll admit to occasionally driving under the limit. North Shore of Oahu and Nor Cal Redwoods are two places that come to mind. But I keep an eye on the rear view mirror and pull over if necessary. In my book, you ain't the jerk; he was.
  11. I sleep on the right side of the bed. If I sleep on the wrong side, Vskydiver gets squished.
  12. Women used to ask me if they should get a Triumph Spitfire like I used to have. I'd ask "Do you like to work on cars or can you hire a full time mechanic?" If they replied "no" I'd advise them not to get one.
  13. Love the moose pic esp. I've never seen one in the wild myself. Next time put your pretty smile in those pics too, maybe next to the glass of wine.
  14. He could have been a coach teaching a new jumper how to pack for themselves. If you're jumping the parachute yourself, there's NO requirement for you to be supervised by a rigger. It's only if you're packing for someone else.
  15. Some rigger got a nice bottle.
  16. Never forget it can happen. A good cautionary tale.
  17. For sale: reserve canopy, only used once, has some stains. "never been opened"
  18. It hasn't been mentioned much, but his wife, whom Vskydiver and I have had the pleasure of knowing for years, is a very experienced skydiver herself, including AFF ratings, video work, etc. She and Luke are familiar with stunt work, and she's seen, more than anyone, all the research, preparation and practice that went into this project. She knew, like the rest of us, that if Luke says he can do it, he can.
  19. The "hill" part you talk about is correct. It's how much forward throw one gets after exiting the airplane, and is directly related to your terminal velocity speed, regardless of wind drift, etc. A good backflyer can fall at belly speeds, but can easily go faster. I vote the idea of them getting out after belly, but before sit/head-downers. Once again, beginning freeflyers of any discipline, try to face perpendicular to the jump run line. That way, if you backslide (very common while learning), you won't slide up or down the jump run line into someone else's airspace.
  20. that was pretty damn nice. Thanks.
  21. One was a 26' lopo (old fashioned round, for all you youngsters ). One was a Raven reserve, so bridle included. Last one was a 202, can't remember the brand, but I just spotted well and found the bag. Yep, detachable bag would be nice. I'd love to jump some of the new PD reserves. I was hoping PD would be at LP, but I guess not.
  22. I've test jumped several of my reserves as a main before putting it in my rig.
  23. No $hit! People are so f-ing slow getting off of airplanes as it is. If I was on that plane and some @$$hole in front of me was trying to save his luggage I'd kidney punch him and step over him to get out the door. They are lucky they didn't lose a bunch of passengers in the ensuing fire.
  24. Matt's not too far behind this guy. I can pick them You also have great taste in friends.
