  1. While it would be great if someone could invent a tarmac-proof jumpsuit, I meant from normal wear and tear! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  2. Go to www.joereger.com play section october and check the video's from Nationals...me and my teamate Emilee have matching pants! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  3. There would'nt be a drug problem if people did'nt want to do drugs! We live in a country founded on the ideals of freedom (or so they say). Really though, with all of the U.S.'s technology why can't we stop the drug smugglers? MONEY! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  4. here ya go http://www.fireflysuits.com/ I have 300 jumps on mine and barely a stitch is frayed michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)

    Whew!!!

the sitflyer escaped with slightly bruised ribs the tracker was unscathed Could have been a lot worse but stuff happens. Both are very good freefliers and are not considered dangerous...just kinda complacent in this instance. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  6. Dude... go with the cobalt! Call Dan sometime this week and try to set up a demo. I jumped a nitron once, and this is what happened: Pitched at 3000 opened in line twists with a violent dive at 2000 the slider would not come all the way down at 1600 the slider would not come all the way down at 1500 I grabbed both rear risers and managed to climb the lines enough to grab the slider while nearly stalling the canopy did not have quite the flare of a Cobalt probably will take some convincing to jump a nitron again! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  7. Just give it a shot...and let me know how it goes. When I psycho packed a stiletto it opened up kind of inconsistently, but that is what you get when you jump a high performance canopy. Just keep everything really straight. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  8. Just curious...why only pants? I found that with my weight (205 naked) I could not fly slow enough head-down to stay with the formation. I now have a beautiful pair of firefly pants crumpled up in my closet. To get back on topic several people at skydive atlanta jump in michigan suits and seem to like them... I even remember hearing that one of the suits had some minor errors and was fixed for free in an expedicous manner. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  9. If you can, get out to AZ and jump. Coolige is pretty cheap I think...can someone help me out...$14 but that may be for boogies michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  10. Oh yeah, if you have a chance jump the hot air balloon. It is worth every penny and I found that balloonists are about as strange as skydivers...a very unique crew. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  11. I personally would recommend the Toltec, but it depends. If you like camping then it is great staying at the dz, but I prefer my own shower and climate controls. All that really matters is you are going to have some great skydives! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  12. Call precision, icarus, and atair and demo all three canopies! People will tell you what canopy they like but all that really matters is what feels right to you! I jumped a nitron at 1.6 and a cobalt at 1.6 and bought the cobalt. Or you could come out to skydive atlanta and I will let you jump the cobalt and you could probably convince tim to let you jump his nitron. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  13. I grew up all over, korea, england, germany, FL,... but never lived in maryland. But there are a lot of us out there...and no one seems to forget my name...wonder why? michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  14. I would probably join the Navy again, but it has to be on submarines. The submarine community is in its own little world and I have never met so many intelligent, down to earth people anywhere except the dropzone. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  15. My friend posted some really cool skydiving video on the server space alloted to his website. However, he did not put a link up on the main page. He emailed me the /whatever to put after the web address but I deleted the email. Is there a way to bring up an index of the site? michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  16. Did'nt realize that you already had a stilleto...sorry about the shameless plug. The main reason that I did not like the stilleto is that I psycho pack and out of my three jumps with a stilleto psycho-packed two resulted in line twists(probably just my packing but who knows). michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  17. It depends on who you ask. And what you can get used to. Most people (with relativly low jump numbers) think that the canopy that they fly is the best, and consitently try to get others to get under the canopy they are flying. I have about 40 jumps under a stilleto and I would say that jumping a camera would be fine. For me, the canopy opened briskly...not to hard but you definantly knew that it was going to open fairly quickly. For more than 150 camera jumps I have been jumping varying sizes of cobalts...they rock! The openings are snivelly and soft. I started on a 150 and have moved down to a 135. I'm about 225 out the door and my first canopy was a triathalon 175. The openings on my cobalt are awesome...I suggest you demo one...oh yeah I can surf my cobalt much further than I was able to surf a stilleto. Not saying they are better, that is just my personal expierience! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  18. Born in Mountain Home, ID Currently live in Auburn, AL Jump at Skydive Atlanta First jump in Walterboro, SC michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  19. I will be there too. Just do not get too close to Clay...he is prone to explosions of the stomach! With someone new coming to the dz we may have to bring Jenga out of retirement! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  20. I have both a suit and a pair of pants from Firefly and they are awesome! I am a rather large guy as well (210 naked) and the extra wide legs and arms are plenty to slow me down. I have had the suit for a year and as far as I can see there are no threads out of place. Really durable suit. I have seen some really cool looking jumpbubble suits as well. Firefly will make custom suits as well, just let them know what you are looking for. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  21. My friend joe at has an unusually descriptive personal website that contains his entire logbook with videos and pictures for most jumps. Go to the play section and then skydiving. It is also a really interesting site, Joe is a great guy! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  22. When should someone start learning how to hook? How do you make a dz a home away from home for the jumpers and avoid being a "tandem" factory? pillows or handles of reserve? How many jumps before a camera should be used? michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  23. Hey guys, I am up at Ft. Bragg visiting my parents for christmas. I thought that I would be able to go without skydiving this weekend, but one look out of the window at the beautiful day that we are having convinced me that I was wrong. I have one large problem though...my rig is in atlanta getting a repack! If anyone has any information on where I can rent/borrow a rig it would be greatly appreciated. I normally fly a cobalt 135 and jump an extremefx 119 on occasion so anything 120 and up would work. I remember hearing that the green beret club rented rigs but I don't remember. I would like a rig that is freefly safe but would go flat (crazy RW people) if that is all that is available HELP michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
  24. check out www.skykat.com and a device called the wedge. I love mine! michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)

    Exiting

A good drill dive that I was taught for solo's was to climb out like you are going to do a poised exit, then close your eyes. Exit the plane and roll forward into the relative wind, keep your eyes closed. When you start to come off of the hill you should be feeling an equal amount of resistance on both sides of your body (I fly the daffy position so that means both legs should be feeling the same amount of pressure). Just relax and remember to keep your hands below your elbows and concentrate on flying with your legs. Fifteen seconds later open your eyes, are you headdown? Worked well for me. Let me know how it goes for you. michael hunt (yes, that is my real name...and i've heard them all)
