  1. Slut, Offer him a free skydive! Hope all is well and your new wife has you trained by now! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  2. Bill, Agreed. Also, performance is also determined by your frame of reference not just the capabilities of the canopy. The base line that needs to be established for this type of "rating" to work is constantly shifting due to the experience level and perception of the canopy pilot. Good thoughts however very difficult to utilize. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  3. Shaun, Send me their names. I've got some great jokes we can post using their names in the punch line. Keep doing what you do. Live and learn. Be safe. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  4. Hey, It's Monday! If that's your worst problem........ Life Is Good!!!! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  5. Dave, Change me brother! Your info is spot on 99.999% of the time! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  6. Let me clarify. If you cannot reach the toggles except with your finger tips, then when you do have the toggles in your hands the canopy will not be in full flight as you have the toggles pulled down further than normal. In that case you will not have full flight or full range of control movement which may not be apparent during flight at altitude and only become obvious during the flare. Give it some thought and see what you think. Blues, J.E. James 4:8

    New AffI

CONGRATS! Who was your course director? Did you learn the "handshake"? Welcome to the world of AFF! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  8. Shaun, Remember what I told you in the course? Now you have the rating to go out and really learn! Students should not be the first load of the day or the first loac after a wind change if you do not use a WDI and, a WDI should be used for students. Experienced instructors have an "idea" of where the spot should be depending upon the winds if they jump at the same DZ all the time. After their first "WAG" they then adjust, and adjust, and adjust. It's part of learning! Keep on keeping on Shaun, you do a great job. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  9. Derek, Give him time. Everyone has to go through it if they stay around long enough. Ron said it correctly, skydiving is not everything and even with 3500 jumps other things do/may have a higher priority. DZ politics are the primary reason people leave DZ's or quit. The old joke how do you make a good friend a A--H---? Make him a DZO! How do you make a DZO a real A--H---? Get him married! There are people such as you and I that try to do everything right and there are those who try to do everything and tell people it right. We all must decide on which we will be. The truth will shine through after time. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  10. Bill, I must disagree with you here my friend. This sounds exactly like a "how to". During an ICC last month I'm student on the Vengeance 107 (late Sunday, last jump, dumb choice) and it functions. Clean cut-a-way and I locate the freebag and follow it down. Main lands on the airport. All go home. Why be in such a hurry to snag the freebag or the main? It's simply not worth the risk. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  11. Nightjumps hit this one directly on the head. It's called responsibilities, priorities, and timing. Focus on family and money at this time that way when the skydiving time arrives you will still have them all. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  12. Remember Bill, only half a pill!!!!!! James 4:8
  13. Hey, when you are 72 years old you don't have to listen to "us kids"!!!! It's not your fault at all!!!!!!! Hard headed men.................................. wait a minute, that's me...................................... Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  14. Yes Chris there is.................... call me when you think of it!!!!! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  15. Congrats to Ella!!!!! On Friday this young lady completed her training and received her "A" license!!!!!! Thanks for letting me be there!!!!!!!!!! Love to you and Jason!!!! (he's next!) Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  16. Guys & Gals, I asked you to PM me if you were interested. Bill does not need to know what I've got working up my sleeve. Or, if you post here I'll PM you. Blues, J.E. P.S. Bill, I received your PM. Sit down and be quiet before I break your ankle!!!!!!!!! Brenda sends her love. J.E. James 4:8
  17. Migliore, Glad it worked out that no one was injured. Let's consider the cause of the collision. When you start tracking the first thing you should be looking for is clear airspace. While tracking you should be looking below to first confirm no one is low and in that airspace, while also checking above. It appears that neither of you did so. If either one had cleared the airspace this should not have happened. Lesson learned, all survived, it was a good day. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  18. Brian, You, Sparky, and Tom have put up some great ideas. Doing "I" and "Coach" courses the most common error I see is lack of efforts with the book-work. That being the problem, too many wanting "instant gratification" without the work. I am criticized "experts" telling people, "go to the book and look it up". They prefer to be told, it is so much easier. I'm with you guys all the way. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  19. 96 hits and no replies? No PM's from you guys. Come on! Who wants to help out Bill Cole? 72 years old, TWO chutless parachute jumps! Take a few minutes to support part of skydivings history, living history! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  20. I've had the honor of having Bill Cole stay with me and my family this week. What a world of experience and history! I'm looking for some help with a project we are working on for Bill. If you would like to help please PM me for information. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
