  1. Could be an F#7b5 fragment
  2. Doesn't Eudora or any email program other than Outlook reduce the chances of receiving a virus? I heard that most viruses (vira?) are written to work on Outlook because it is the prevailing email program world wide. Plus, it's just another reason to stop using another Microsoft product
  3. Great explanation. It would also help to ease the frustration by barring higher up on the neck at first, then bring it down to first position as you build strength.
  4. I'd like to infect the SOB that wrote the virus with bubonic plague
  5. No big thing, hey we're all calling them bar cords in this thread when, really, the proper term is barre.
  6. I remember trying to learn bar cords way back 30 some years ago :-(. They are one of the hardest things to learn. Just keep at it, it will seem like it will never happen, but one day it will work like out of nowhere, trust me. Hey your embouchere took a long time to get right , didn't it?
  7. You're right Jack, although your major 7th is actually a dominant 7th, commonly called a 7th. The 3rd fret on the B string is a D natural. Move it up one fret to D# and voila, you have a major 7th cord!
  8. Thanks, Wow, those are some scary instructions. Looks like one wrong move and my PC is locked. I think I might just delete the file. I did a system scan, and it looks like everything is clean except for the quarantined mail.
  9. Many thanks, I will destroy it.
  10. Norton intercepted and quarantined an email infected with the WIN32.KlezD@mm virus on my PC.When I go to delete the file (size.exe) from the quarantine folder, I get the old "Are you SURE?" message. Does anybody know if it's ok to delete it? I figure it's alright since I never opened the email. I guess it's true, Outlook is vulnerable to the virus problem because it's so widely used.Is Eudora the way to go to avoid this nonsense???
  11. It's an E cord alright, but with the Eb on the B string, it becomes an E major 7th
  12. Like Duke Ellington said, if it sounds good, it IS good. I grew up listening to British Invasion, Hendrix, Doors, etc, while my parents played classical and jazz. Started guitar lessons at 13 and nevre stopeed playing. I like any music that comes from the heart and hasn't been packaged by some marketing department. If I had to pick a genre I couldn't live without, it would be bebop jazz. I actually get up an hour earlier then necessary every day so I can practice jazz guitar before work. Am I crazy or what???
  13. Well, SOMEBODY has to keep us honest! I'm 98% sure I've never punched a cloud.
  14. The only thing to do is keep on playing. When it starts to hurt, take five (not the song, a break). But you want to get calluses on all your fingers, so IMHO major scales up and down the neck in all 12 keys are the way to go. You'll toughen up your finger tips and learn the fret board at the same time. And remember, right hand technique is just as important.
  15. I don't remember there being a glove involved....
  16. Oliver Stone usually has an axe to grind when he makes a movie. The "facts" are then presented to prove his case. I would try to find historical sources of information instead of relying on Hollywood.
  17. Yes, we can, absolutely. Hard to believe, given today's headlines, but we humans are progressing, slowly but surely. When I was a kid minorities were forced to live as second-class citizens. If a woman had a professional career she was an object of curiosity. War was actually considered a glorious undertaking. People's interactions led to the social movements that brought about paradigm shifts in the way we think. Not a simplistic notion at all. The work is never finished.
  18. Does this mean the gerbils' union is going to demand hazmat suits?
  19. Yeah, because the tops of the drops are pointy.
  20. They took a poll once and asked jumpers if they ever purposely dove through clouds. 2% said yes, 98% lied.
  21. Not to change the subject (though it's already happened), if you screw up a line, repeat it in the same place next time around, the squares will think you are playing "outside".
  22. And do you ask the Amish women how many men-a-night they can handle?
  23. HILARIOUS!! Thanks Why do they call it freefall when it costs $20.00 a pop?
  24. Working today and tomorrow. It's like a morgue in here. I wonder what people who work at the morgue say on a slow day?
  25. I don't blame you for being upset. I feel lucky, my company only had a so-so year (c'mon, don't all you guys want to upgrade your copper networks to secure fiber?). But we got turkeys on thanksgiving, a great Christmas party, and enough cash to burn a hole in my pocket. And not one person complained about anything! I thank my lucky stars I work for and with such a great bunch of people.
