  1. Is that the original paint scheme? If it is, it looks like a collector's item to me.
  2. I cut my nusic teeth on Beatles, Stones and other British Invasion music. Got into bands playing Doors, Hendrix, Iron Butterfly. Played anything and everything at the DZ. Now I'm hardcore into jazz guitar. Let's Jam!!!
  3. Versatile and easy is the ticket - I have an Epiphone Dot($300.00) and people have asked if it's a 335 from the sound of it!
  4. Your electric collection is a dream. A guitar for every style. Love those Fenders! How does the Hamer sound? I've never heard one, but always liked the looks.
  5. Nice guitars! Taylor is a class act. I've had a 510 for about 12 yrs now. Used to play every Saturday night at the DZ around the fire. Jumping all day, making music all night, a great way of life!
  6. Rack up another slime ball! Too bad they didn't catch him alive and turn him over to the Kurds.
  7. Thanks Dave, Looks like it's time for some serious book time.
  8. He was a brilliant tactician indeed, and you can come out here and walk the same fields he did. Mosby wreaked havoc around here, too. That said, your point was not lost on me, I just get fired up about the subject. Peace The Iraqi Information Minister will still be claiming victory as they slip the noose around his neck.
  9. It freed the slaves in the confederate states, but initially only in areas NOT controlled by the Union.
  10. Never went to a public school in my life. The legacy of the war was one hundred years of Jim Crow. Nobody who has read anything about the conflict would say it slavery was the compelling issue. But the rhetoric from the rebels made it obvious it was one of the keys. The seditionists lost, get over it.
  11. Yes, we've heard all of that before. Maybe it would be more fitting to recall those who put freedom above sovereignty. That seemed to be the crux of the debate at the U.N.
  12. That's ironic. They are associating an army of liberators with a man who fought to defend a system of enslavement and repression?
  13. 56k Would like broadband, but DSHell has service issues here and Comcast makes you buy TV along with the ISP services - I pay people to haul trash away from my place, why pay someone else to deliver it?
  14. Sounds like you are SOL. I use Fireworks, maybe I could get it down to 60k fir you. Want to send it?
  15. Don't know about iPhoto. You could scan the photo at a lower resolution, save it, then upload it.
  16. Thanks everyone, Damn, this is getting complicated and scary. Can someone point me to one of those freeware programs for XP Home? I think I'll head to Borders and pick up CGI for Dummies as an intro.
  17. OK, I dumped FrontPage and rebuilt my site with Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks. Now I want to create dynamic pages, but I'm confused by the Macromedia forums. Can I get by learning CGI, or should I go for ColdFusion? Adding to the situation, Microsoft says XP Home will not support IIS or PWS. If this is true, they are real ****heads. How easy is it for a self taught web designer to download and use something like Apache HTTP?
  18. Okay, so now we are on a code orange terror alert. I heard on the news that restrictions have been placed for air travel over DC, NYC, and the Disney theme parks. So how do you folks in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, etc feel about this? Mickey Mouse is getting better protection than you!!
  19. They were actually two separate articles. One was about a couple of jumpers who were able to jump behind the Iron Curtain without ending up in a Gulag, and the other explained how the Moonraker jumps were done.
  20. They had reserves on their backs (Wonderhogs were the rage). The reserve on the front was an extra. They still had the original reserve to fall back on just in case.
  21. Way back in 1979 the folks at my home DZ were doing this: They would put together a biplane, then the bottom flier would cut away and deploy a tertiary reserve. The top flier would fly and land the biplane all alone. I saw them do a lot of these, and nobody ever got hurt. Jimmy, the guy in the pic was killed in a plane crash just a couple years after the picture was taken.
  22. What's really amazing is that he was speeding with the barstool? I wonder what the top end and MPG of one of those things are? Automatic transmission? CD player?
  23. Every time I'm working out and I hear The Beatles cover of Twist and Shout I get motivated. It's at a good tempo and is very upbeat. Then again, I'm old enough that I remember when it came out.
